The cool air around him and the subtle smile on his lips would instantly make one comfortable in his presence.
“Speak of the devil.” Kate laughed.
Isla choked on her drink, and Heidi stared at him wide-eyed.
“Let me guess, you’re Steve!” Heidi stood up, not believing her eyes. From the moment Steve walked in, his eyes first landed on her, and he couldn’t look away.
His lips formed a ‘Wow’ shape, and he shoved both hands into his pants pocket, blinking slowly. “And you’re Heidi?” The words left his lips as a whisper.
Kate looked from her brother to Heidi. She smiled secretly, a mischievous look glinting in her eyes.
“Yeah, she’s Heidi.” Kate broke the awkward silence. “Stop drooling, Bro. Heidi’s my special guest, don’t make her uncomfortable.”
Steve collected himself and sat down, his eyes still fixed on Heidi. “You’ve truly grown into a beautiful woman. I’m amazed.”
“I can say the same for you.” Heidi laughed. “Where’s that lonely boy who would secretly sneak snacks into my locker?”
“If I didn’t do that, Kate would behead me.” Steve laughed at those silly memories.
“I was impressed by how you constantly wanted to book an appointment with Kate,” he said proudly. “Knowing that it’s for business, I have to commend your persistence.”
“Ms. Olsen didn’t want to give up. My confidence was boosted by her determination,” Isla butted in, extending her hand. “By the way, I’m Isla. Isla Kendall. Ms. Olsen’s assistant.”
“It is nice to meet you, Isla. You have a beautiful name.” Steve shook her hand.
“N-Nice to meet you too.” Isla blushed, quickly retracting her hand.
“Can you believe that Steve’s plan to lure you girls to this city actually worked?” Kate sipped her wine, carefully watching everyone’s interaction.
“How was he able to do that?” Heidi asked, surprised.”
“Guess the anonymous guy who sold you the information online. My brother’s a tech guy, he owns a big tech company.”
“Ah, really?”
Both Heidi and Isla nodded in disbelief, seeing the guy in a new light.
“I’m especially alert when the matter concerns my sister.” Steve shrugged, sipping a bottle of wine.

“Are you sure?” Kate laughed mischievously. “Didn’t you side with Heidi at kindergarten to bully me?”
“It was wrong of you to steal her snacks.” Steve shook his head. “You had to make me compensate for your silliness every day.”
“Hey, my stomach couldn’t differentiate right from wrong.” Kate pouted. Everyone laughed, reminiscing old memories, the booth echoing with liveliness.
After the laughter died down, Steve stared at Heidi seriously.
“You’re running a brand under the AG Group. How tough it must be for you. It is rare to see a woman running a company.”
“Don’t worry about me, I’m just managing,” Heidi replied.
If the guy knew what she was aiming for, would he faint in shock?
She chuckled inside.
What if someday she became the CEO of the AG Group at large?
That was like a far-fetched dream for everyone, but she wouldn’t back down until her uncle ate back his words.
“StriveStyle Co. is in a tight spot currently. Ms. Olsen is doing her best to revive it.” Isla spoke up amidst the sudden silence. “The main reason we came here was for Ms. Anderson to…”
Heidi nudged Isla a bit, gesturing for her to keep quiet. Isla was quick to understand Heidi’s signal.
Thinking back to Kate’s obvious hatred towards her uncle who had once managed the AG Group, they had to thread carefully to coax her to work for a brand under the AG Group.
Kate’s lips pulled into a smile. As if she didn’t want to discuss the matter, she held Heidi’s hands and said, “Forget about business, there’s a lot I should show you in this city.”
“GreyHills City must not be as popular as Phoenix City, but it has fantastic sights you wouldn’t want to miss. Steve, will you help me out in showing Heidi around?” Kate winked at her brother, sending him a secret message.
Steve scratched his neck in embarrassment, throwing her a secret glare.
“Sure. If Heidi would love that, I’ll be glad to show her around. Did you know, I’ve been planning for a while to break into the investment field? Phoenix City is a great place to run a business.”
“You’re right. We can always keep in touch, Steve. When you come to Phoenix City, don’t forget to find me.”
