As Kara skipped around the park, she tapped on her smartwatch and started a call.

“I’m with Rina next to the small wooden bridge.”

The moment she’d woken up, Kara had crafted a plan to go out and meet with Micah and Rina.

There were still some things she wanted to talk about in

person.

While putting together the plan, they found out that the three of them were equally close to Gallon Park. That was why they were meeting there right now.

“Micah, I think I see you.” Kara excitedly waved to her brother, who was beside the bridge like he said.

The two children happily threw their arms around each other in a warm hug.

Rina stood off to the side, eyeing them with envy.

Once Kara peeled apart from Micah, her eyes fell upon Rina. She reeled back in shock, noticing that they really did look exactly alike. “It’s no wonder that even Mommy and Mr. Handsome couldn’t tell. I would’ve done the same.”

Rina stared back at her, also wearing a look of surprise.

“Kara, how are you doing? Have you been getting bullied?” Micah asked worriedly.

After all, he’d learned that Rina’s mommy would beat someone as obedient and well–behaved as Rina.

With Kara’s playful attitude and troublemaking tendencies, Rina’s mommy would be punishing her nonstop.

Kara announced proudly, “It’s okay. I chased away that mean woman.”

Micah and Rina stared at her curiously.

Noticing their questioning looks, Kara wasted no time in bragging about what she’d done last night.

“Rina, your daddy isn’t just handsome. He’s also very very nice.”

In just one right, Kara had fallen in love with Howard.

Rina nodded in agreement before frowning. She spoke up nervously, “If you made Mommy angry, she’ll…”

She drifted off, her entire body trembling with fear,

“Don’t be afraid, Rina. We’ll help you.” Micah held onto her hand in an act of reassurance.

Although he was still unsure about her identity, he treated her

as if she was his own sister.

While his hand–holding was a small gesture, the warmth of his little hand sent a surge of encouragement through Rina. Her fear settled down.

Kara tilted her head to the side and wondered aloud, “Rina, is that bad woman really your mommy? Why did your daddy marry someone so mean?”

The thought of that evil lady hurting Rina filled her with rage.

“Daddy isn’t married to Mommy,” Rina whispered.

Now it was Kara’s and Micah’s turn to face her in surprise.

“Your daddy didn’t marry her? Why?”

Rina slowly shook her head. “I don’t know.”

“Huh!” Kara sighed, her demeanor carrying a seriousness that was better suited for an adult. “The life of grown–ups is so very confusing.”

“Kara, we shouldn’t stay out for too long. We should figure things out,” her brother reminded her.

At his words, she pasted on an expression that meant

business.

Micah continued, “I searched online yesterday. If we want to prove that Rina’s daddy is ours, we need something called a paternity test. We need to get hair from them.”

“Then that’s easy. I can just go back and pull out Mr. Handsome’s hair,” Kara shouted confidently.

Micah’s frown tightened. “The problem isn’t getting the hair. It’s the paternity test. We’re just kids. We need to get the test from the hospital, but I’m not sure they’ll let us.”

Meanwhile, Rina looked back and forth between the two.

“I know.” Kara’s little eyes lit up, the corners of her mouth. lifting to form a sly grin. “We can find someone online to order the test. They can help us get the results too.”

Micah gave her a thumbs–up, praising her for her idea.

Only a scheming troublemaker like her could come up with a plan like this.

The three continued to chatter on and on about the details. At last, Kara decided that it was time to return to the Logan family while Rina resumed her role beside Micah and Mommy.

When she’d heard that she could stay with Sally for now, Rina visibly relaxed. A slight smile lit up her face.
