The entrance of the hospital was crowded with people dressed in mourning attire, holding banners.

The banners read, “Incompetent doctors harm lives, return our loved ones.”

“The incompetent doctors harm lives, return our loved ones,” shouted the leader, holding a megaphone.

There were many onlookers around.

However, no one from the hospital came out to address the situation.

This had been going on for a few days, and initially, hospital staff members had come out to mediate.

But now, no one paid any attention to the protesters.

“Mr. Donovan, hello, I’m a lawyer from Justice Law Firm. My name is Join. Can we talk?”

Sally stepped forward and revealed her identity directly to the leader.

The leader glanced at Sally and coldly said, “I have nothing to talk to you about. I want to talk to the person in charge of the hospital.”

“I am here on behalf of the hospital management,” Sally smiled.

The leader gave her another look, remained silent, and showed no intention of talking to Grace.

“Mr. Donovan, I am familiar with your situation, and I think it’s necessary for us to have a conversation. It will help resolve the matter more quickly, don’t you think?” Sally suggested.

“Fine, we can talk, right here,” the leader relaxed his tone.

Sally nodded with a smile, “Good!”

“Donovan, male, 35 years old, mother and son relationship with the deceased. Sandra, female, 65 years old, suffered from myocardial infarction and diabetes. On May 20th, she had a heart attack and was brought to the hospital for rescue, but the rescue was unsuccessful, and she passed away,” Sally read the personal information she had about Donovan and the deceased Sandra.

“Mr. Donovan, did I state anything incorrectly?”

Donovan nodded, then shook his head, “Everything before that is correct, but the last sentence is wrong. It wasn’t an unsuccessful rescue that led to her death. It was the incompetence of the doctors in this hospital that killed her.”

“Mr. Donovan, sudden myocardial infarctions already had an 80% fatality rate,” Sally corrected his statement.

Donovan was exposed, and he instantly became irritated. “You’re just a lawyer, what do you know? I won’t talk to you anymore.”

After cursing, he picked up the megaphone again and resumed shouting.

“Mr. Donovan, what is the situation exactly? You should be aware of it better than me. Your agitation seems to be aimed at pressuring the hospital for additional compensation, which falls beyond the hospital’s responsibilities. The hospital has already engaged me to handle this matter. Donovan completely disregarded her suggestion and continued shouting through a megaphone.

“Article 274 of the Criminal Law states that extortion and blackmailing public or private property, with a large amount or repeated instances. Shall be sentenced to imprisonment for less than three years, criminal detention, or control, and shall also be fined. If the amount is huge or there are other serious circumstances, the punishment shall be imprisonment for three to ten years, and a fine. If the amount is

exceptionally huge or there are other particularly serious circumstances, the punishment shall be imprisonment for more than ten years, and a fine.”

As soon as Sally finished speaking, Donovan stopped and no longer shouted.

“Mr. Donovan, since I could come to see you, it naturally means I came prepared. Your mother, Sandra, was subjected to abuse by you on multiple occasions, and you even neglected her. It was one hour after your mother fell ill that you brought her to the hospital. After she was admitted, you

Seeing the wound on her forehead, his anger grew stronger on his face.

Howard didn’t speak, he just pulled Sally along, walking quickly.

Struggling to keep up, Sally could only run to catch up. The pain in her eye corner, combined with the hurried steps, made her feel dizzy.

Suddenly, Howard made a sudden stop, and Sally didn’t react in time, crashing into Howard’s embrace.

The faint scent of old–fashioned cologne was so familiar, it entered Sally’s nose and instantly opened up the long–sealed chambers of her heart.

Her heartbeat raced uncontrollably.

“Mr. Logan, what are you doing?” Sally quickly took a step back, creating distance between her and Howard.

This action deeply hurt Howard. “Am I so filthy? That you have to avoid me like this?”

Howard’s approach made Sally instinctively take another step back.

“Sally!” Howard reached out and embraced Sally, pulling her into his arms.

“What’s this? Are you playing a game of cat and mouse with me?”

He didn’t know why, but he hated this feeling.

He wanted Sally to stay far away from him, but seeing her evasive actions inexplicably annoyed him.

“Mr. Logan, I think it’s better for us to maintain some distance in our current relationship to avoid misunderstandings,” Sally said, but she couldn’t even meet Howard’s gaze.

Her heartbeat had skipped several beats.

If it were in the past, being so close to Howard, she probably wouldn’t be able to sleep for several nights.

But then, everything had changed.

Howard’s hand around her waist tightened with more force. “Misunderstandings? Who is this ‘someone‘ you’re talking

about?”

“Mr. Logan, why do you ask such questions when you already know the answer?” Sally feigned composure.

Howard’s grip grew stronger, and Sally felt a slight twinge of pain.

But she dared not struggle. The current position they were in was simply too intimate.

Howard despised his own weakness.
