“Nan, we are almost ready. Hey, Judy,” Chester said, coming up behind Nan, who released her hold on me.

She motioned for me to follow after her, so I did. Gavin and the others followed as well.

She brought us to a table with a gorgeous bouquet in the center. She left after we were seated at the table, and almost immediately, a young man approached and took our drink orders.

“Nan did such a good job,” Irene breathed. “It’s beautiful here.

It was nice going out to dinner with the 4 of us, gathering to support my best friend. It was almost like we were a real family.

Our drinks came shortly after. And after glancing at the menu for a moment, I knew what I wanted to order. We put in our food orders and fell into a comfortable silence as we people–watched. Nan was running circles around the place, making sure everything was going smoothly.

Chester was in and out of the kitchen, making sure everything was being cooked to perfection.

When we received our orders, it smelled like heaven. My mouth watered at the sight, which was incredible because lately, food has been doing nothing but making me want to vomit. But this might be the first meal I’ve eaten in weeks that didn’t make me throw up.

I would have felt bad if I threw up in the middle of her opening night.

The food tasted incredible, and I ate it as if I had been starved.

Overall, opening night for the Howling Spoon was a success, and Nan looked more than happy by the end of the night.

Gavin entwined his fingers through mine, giving them a gentle squeeze, though his eyes remained on the monitor.
