In the next few days, Ye Moxuan did not chase Shen Qi out of the Ye residence, nor did he prohibit her from coming to the company.

As long as she was at his side, Ye Moxuan would think of all kinds of methods to torture and abuse her.

Shen Qi was worn out after completing various high-intensity work for one whole week.

This morning, Shen Qi was about to get up and go to the Ye Group as usual, but she felt discomfort everywhere and her head was dizzy.

She even felt nauseous when she was brushing her teeth, whereupon she held onto the basin to support herself and gagged several times before she could finish brushing.

Shen Qi was unceasingly confused. She had been gagging quite frequently nowadays. Did I eat something wrong? My throat feels dry too. I think I got the flu. I’ll go to the hospital today to have a check.

Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan arrived at his office early. While he was working, he kept on glancing at his watch.

It has been one hour since work started. Why is that woman not here yet? Ha, and I was just wondering how determined she would be. Has she finally given up?

Knock-knock. Just then, someone knocked at the door.

“Come in.” Looking at the person who came into his office, Ye Moxuan suddenly felt disappointed.

“Young Master Ye, these are the documents that you need to sign, and this is today’s schedule.” Xiao Su passed over the documents dutifully and continued, “We’ve sent people to check on the hospital, and we haven’t found any suspicious woman at the Gynecology department.”

“Alright.” Ye Moxuan waved his hand to signal Xiao Su to leave. But as Xiao Su was about to leave the room, Ye Moxuan acted as if he didn’t care and asked, “Is she absent today?”

Xiao Su was stunned for a while, thereupon he immediately realized who Young Master Ye was referring to, and he quickly replied, “Yes. Miss Shen is absent. It seems that she has beat a hasty retreat.”

Ye Moxuan nodded and continued to focus on his work. However, deep down in his heart, he felt a little discouraged.

Meanwhile, Shen Qi was queuing to take her number in the hospital. When it was her turn, she told the doctor about her situation, and the doctor looked at her with a strange gaze.

“Do you often feel sleepy, nauseous, and that your urination frequency has increased recently?”

Shen Qi nodded fervently. “What’s wrong with me, doctor? It doesn’t seem like a common flu…”

The doctor looked at her helplessly and continued, “When is the last time you had your period?”

Upon hearing that, Shen Qi tried to recall. “More than one month…” She paused when she realized, and her expression changed gradually.

The doctor smiled and said, “Have you had sexual intercourse recently? You should pay more attention to your situation now. I won’t prescribe you any medicine yet. Why don’t you go take a new number to check if you’re really pregnant first.”

Shen Qi then left the hospital in distress.

She didn’t dare to get herself checked in the hospital. Instead, she went to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test strip and locked herself in the bathroom once she got back to the Ye residence.

Anxiously, she waited for a long time after taking the test. When she saw the pregnancy test strip revealing a positive line, her face turned paler even though her face was already pale from not feeling well.

She lowered her head to look at her flat tummy, finding it hard to believe.

Back then, everything happened so unexpectedly. She had never experienced such a thing, and she ran back home in a hurry only to find out that she was forced into a marriage. She was so heartbroken that she didn’t think much about the matter, nor did she take any emergency contraception pill.

And now, she was pregnant with that man’s child!

Shen Qi covered her mouth in shock.

No, I can’t afford to panic. Maybe the pregnancy test wasn’t accurate. It’s better for me to go to the hospital to check!

Shen Qi immediately threw the strip into the dustbin, got up, and went out of the bathroom. Feeling guilty, she looked around after walking out of the bathroom, worrying that Ye Moxuan might suddenly appear.

Due to her flu on top of her pregnancy, Shen Qi felt dizzy, and she simply lay in bed to sleep from the afternoon until the sunset.

She woke up from hunger, and so she went downstairs to find some food while rubbing her belly.

While she was walking down the stairs, some of the maids passed by, and one of them bumped into her on purpose.

“Ah!” Shen Qi lost her balance and fell on the staircase.

“Oh! It’s the Second Young Lady! I thought you were a maid. I’m sorry! Do you need me to help you up?” Despite saying that, the maid didn’t have any intention to help her up.

Shen Qi took a glance at the sassy maid without saying anything. She then got up in silence and continued to walk downstairs.

However, she didn’t expect the maid to not let her go even when she didn’t want to cause any trouble.

“Tsk, do you think that you’re Cinderella who got married to Prince Charming? You can’t even be a maid if our Second Young Master doesn’t like you!”

“That’s right! Look at her shabby looks; who would recognize her as the Young Lady? I heard that the Second Young Master called her his care worker!”

“If I were her, I would have packed my things and left instead of being a disgrace like this.”

“Women like her are shameless! What wouldn’t she do for money?”

Upon hearing the insults, Shen Qi’s face turned even paler, and her weak body was wobbling unsteadily.
