New Romance in Marriage - Season 1 Episode 14
Drop Her Off at School
Paige’s fidgeting startled Chris awake. He opened his eyes and looked at her, his hands up to no
good.
She blushed.
“I–I have class today…” Paige said, deflecting his advances.
Chris looked at the clock on the wall. It was 7:00 AM. He nibbled her ear and said, “We have time.”
Paige had no words.
Paige and Chris went downstairs for breakfast.
Chris walked ahead while Paige followed behind him with an embarrassed face. Most of the family members were there by the time they got to the dining room.
The Jewells had strict house rules. Everyone had to be home no matter how late unless they were away on business. They would enjoy breakfast together as a family.
It was a rule set by Zander.
All family members had to abide by the rule.
Paige and Chris wished everybody a good morning before taking their seats at the dining table.
With Zander present, the family enjoyed a pleasant breakfast together. They appeared close–knit and happy.
After breakfast, Paige went back to the room to retrieve her books. She was ready to go to school.
Ann stopped her for a chat in the living room downstairs.
In truth, Ann was not fond of Paige. She had always believed Sierra was not good enough for Chris. If Sierra, who enjoyed the love and support of her family, did not deserve her son. Then, Paige, the scapegoat of her family, could not possibly be any better in Ann’s eyes.
“Paige, it’s your first year in college, right?” Ann asked with a smile.
Paige gave a nod. “Yes.”
“Study well. Now that my daughter–in–law, you represent our family,” Ann said with a grin.
Paige’s heart dropped
She knew Ann did not take to her.

“I don’t ask for much, but I expect you to excel in every test,” Ann commented with a smile.
Paige nodded her head. “I understand.”
The commute to and from campus will take up an hour or two of your time, and that wasted time. will reflect on your studies. In my opinion, you should live on campus. That way, you’ll have an extra couple of hours to spend on your studies.” Ann smiled faintly, but anyone could tell it was fake. Her perfect smile could not be faulted, though.
Live on campus?
Paige’s eyes lit up.
She wanted to live in the residence hall.
At least then, she would not have to be alone with Chris.
Although Chris did not take out his anger on her, Paige was afraid, anxious, and stressed to be alone with him.
Paige left the house in a good mood. At the entrance, she saw a Mercedes parked. However, she did not know who was inside.

“Get in.” Chris‘ flat tone reflected his displeasure.
Paige was at a loss for words.
She hesitated for a moment before approaching the car. She bent over and talked to Chris, who was inside. “I want to go to school.”
“Get in.” Chris‘ voice was cold.
Paige had no choice but to get into the car.
Chris started the engine right after she buckled up.
Paige said nothing, not even asking where Chris was taking her. She would not dare to annoy him
when he was in a good mood, much less when his mood was foul.
However, Paige slowly realized they were en route to her school.
A’s her college came into view, Paige debated whether to bring something up.
“I want… to stay in the residence hall,” Paige said in the end.
Chris furrowed his brows. “The residence hall?”

Paige’s stomach dropped when Chris frowned. Still, she mustered the courage to nod. “Yes.”
Chris stayed quiet, but it was clear that he was not happy. He looked gloomy.
“My course load is very demanding now. The commute will take almost two hours every day, and
it’s time I can spend learning,” Paige replied.
The look on Chris‘ face was not any better, so Paige grew nervous.
It was not as if Paige could tell Chris that it was Ann’s wish for her to live on campus.
What if Chris questioned Ann about it? Ann would think Paige was trying to drive a wedge
between her and Chris. It was as if things were not hard enough for Paige to live with the Jewells.
“I’m… your wife now. I can’t afford bad grades… I don’t want to embarrass you and the family,”
Paige said.
Chris did not seem as upset. However, he still had not said a word.
Paige believed she had said her piece. She was always nervous and cautious around Chris, so
there was no point in saying anything else.
The journey to Paige’s school was quiet.
Chris pulled up at the school gate, and Paige got off. Outside the car, she bent over and said to Chris, “Thank you for dropping me off. Bye.”
He did not respond to her.
Paige gave Chris one last look before turning around and hurrying through the school gate. She walked as if she were being chased by a monster.
