Paige knew Mandy probably did not like her, but Mandy was a true lady. Despite her feelings for Paige, Mandy would always remain courteous.

In fact, Paige had an idea why Mandy did not like her.

Liam’s family and Frank’s family did not get along. Since Paige was Chris‘ sister–in–law at the

time, Paige was naturally on Chris‘ side. That was the reason Mandy did not like her.

“Chris, Paige,” Mandy greeted them with a smile.

Even though both families were feuding, their fighting was only behind closed doors. They presented themselves as one big happy family on the surface.

Chris gave a nod and took his seat.

Paige sat next to Chris. Soon, the household help began food service.

The household helpers served each of them different food items.

“Ma’am, let us know your preference, and we will prepare your meals accordingly,” the domestic help told Paige with a smile.

Paige nodded her head in acknowledgment. She glanced at the plate in front of Chris.

Chris had smoked haddock with poached eggs and steak tartare.

Paige wondered if that was his favorite.

The food seemed bland.

Paige then looked at what Mandy was having.

She was speechless.

By looking at Mandy’s plate, Paige realized the health and fitness influencers were not kidding

around.

All Mandy had was a small plate of salad and barely a mouthful of steak.

That was Mandy’s lunch.

If Mandy was not already skinny, Paige would have suspected she was on a diet.

Paige quietly ate her fill.

Compared to Mandy, Paige believed she ate a lot more. She often had a full–course meal paired with fruits and sometimes even two main courses. Although Paige’s appetite was average, she

The lunch was a silent affair, with no one talking.

After lunch, Mandy excused herself and left. Paige followed Chris upstairs.

“Take a nap. I’ll be working,” Chris said to Paige.

“…Oh,” Paige answered. She looked at the bed decorated with rose petals, then went to the bathroom. She changed into pajamas in the closet and came out.

Chris glanced at her. She looked young and fresh in her pink short–sleeved pajamas and shorts with floral prints.

He laughed to himself. It turned out she was a young girl at heart.

Paige was aware that Chris‘ eyes were on her. She sucked it up and got into bed.

The covers did not have any odor.

It was the scent of fresh linens.

The bedding was clearly new, with no hint of anyone’s scent. No one had slept on it before.

Paige lay in bed and peeked at Chris working at his desk. She found men most attractive when they were working. Chris stared at the computer screen intently, the light from the screen casting an almost holy glow on his face.

He was like a god, unattainable and out of reach. Everybody else appeared small in his

presence.

Paige thought she would have trouble sleeping, but the sound of Chris‘ keyboard tapping lulled her to sleep. She even dreamed of a mountain pressing down on her, suffocating her with its weight.

She opened her eyes to see a dark figure looming over her. She gasped in fear, nearly letting slip a

scream.

There was a scent that was both unfamiliar and familiar.

It was Chris.

Paige blushed.

She nervously squirmed, wanting to refuse.

Paige had taken a good look at herself during a shower. She looked… bad.

Still, she could not say no to the man.

In the end, Paige did not resist Chris‘ advances.

Since they were at the family home, Paige bit her lip to stifle her screams, in fear the other family

members would hear them. As the screaming began to escape, she bit Chris‘ shoulder to muffle

the sound.

However, it made Chris more excited than usual.

Once Chris finished, he went to take a shower, leaving Paige lying limply in bed. She stared at the ceiling in despair.

The thought that this would be her reality day after day drove her further to despair.

Chris came out of the shower to find Paige curled up under the covers. She was drained and did not have the energy to clean herself.

Without a word, he tucked himself in bed and closed his eyes to sleep.

The pair slept until the household help summoned them for dinner.

Paige felt a lot better after a nap. She got up, washed herself, and followed Chris down for dinner.

Most family members were around at night, except those who had business dinners.
