New Romance in Marriage - Season 1 Episode 11
Not Easy
Paige’s face went red.
Those scratch marks… were from her.
Chris was a stallion in bed. Too much for Paige to handle, her fingers clutched at his back.
Paige used to be oblivious to the scratch marks she had left on his back.
The scratches on his back were raw and bleeding, but now they had scabbed over.
They must have hurt.
It was a good thing Chris was not mad.
On second thought, Paige believed Chris did not have the right to be angry after all he had done to her. The scratches she had caused were no more than the pain he had inflicted on her.
While Paige was lost in her thoughts, Chris had taken his pants off.
Paige snapped out of them and blushed even harder. She turned her face away in a fluster, her heart beating wildly.
Chris looked back at Paige. He then sauntered into the walk–in closet and changed into loungewear. By the time he came out, Paige was still standing in a daze.
“Take your things inside,” Chris said.
“…Oh.” Paige exhaled in relief. She felt out of place in the room. Chris‘ lingering scent played on
her nerves.
Paige carried the suitcase into the closet. It was huge, and even though Chris had a lot of clothes, some space was cleared out for her. After putting away her things, Paige came out to find Chris lounging on the balcony, talking on the phone.
Paige went to the bathroom, which was spacious, like the closet. It had a bathtub, a rainfall shower, a toilet, and his and her vanity sinks.
Paige placed her cosmetic products on the vanity unit.
Although Paige did not get much attention at home, the Quirks did not skimp on her material possessions. As the heiress to a wealthy family, Paige made sure to take care of her appearance. It was a woman’s nature to want to be pretty.
After putting away her things, Paige emerged from the bathroom.
Then Paige did not know what to do next.

If it was her bedroom, Paige would be on her phone in bed. However, now… she could not bring
herself to do it.
That was Chris‘ bed.
As Chris returned from his phone call, Paige looked up in a panic at the sound of his footsteps.
She tried to smile but found it difficult when faced with his chiseled but aloof face.
Chris looked at Paige. Then, without a word, he entered the bathroom to take a leak. Once inside,
he noticed the bottles and tubs on the vanity.
He had no words.
Truth be told, Chris was startled by the sheer number of cosmetic products.
He knew that women loved makeup and cosmetics. However, there were at least fifty bottles on
the vanity at a glance. They came in all shapes, colors, and sizes.
Did Paige slap that many products on her face every day?
So, it took a lot of effort to maintain Paige’s collagen–filled, baby–smooth skin.
It must not be easy being a woman.

Chris came out of the bathroom after relieving himself to find Paige on her phone on the sofa. His
presence made her freeze and straighten her back.
He knew Paige was afraid of him. After all, she was scared and awkward around him.
The Quirks raised two daughters with completely opposite personalities. One was immature and
lacked integrity, while the other was overly cautious and compliant.
It was a wonder how the Quirks raised them. By right, Paige was the youngest daughter, who
tended to be spoiled.
Chris would expect Paige to be getting all the attention at home and knew no boundaries.
However, that was not the case with the sisters.
Chris had no plans to ease Paige’s nerves. She could be afraid of him for all he cared. At least then,
she would not try anything funny like Sierra. The fear would stop Paige from betraying him or
making him angry.
He only married for one thing, and that was to procreate. He was a man of ambition, so his focus
was on his work and growing his career. As for marriage, he wanted a docile wife who would stay out of trouble and give him a child. In exchange, he would gladly provide her with riches.
Chris grabbed his laptop, sat at his desk, and opened it to start working

As the COO of the family business, Chris made a lot of decisions for the company. Although his
schedule was not packed, he was still busy.
Paige stole a glance at Chris. Seeing as he was working, she sighed in relief.
It was awkward for her to be alone with him.
Paige scrolled on her phone on the sofa while Chris took care of business behind the desk. They did not exchange a word. The room was silent, save for the occasional clicking of Chris’s keyboard.
Soon, the household help called the pair for lunch.
Paige and Chris went downstairs to the dining room.
Only one person was seated at the dinner table.
It was Mandy.
Mandy was Liam’s daughter. She was twenty–three years old.
Paige knew her.
She and Mandy studied at the same college. Although they were in different majors and years,
Paige knew Mandy from Chris‘ previous engagement with Sierra. The girls would exchange
pleasantries when they met on campus.
Paige nodded at Mandy with a smile.
Mandy nodded back.
