“I see,” Nina nodded.

Kristina’s last letter before her death showed how much she loved Noah. She had been worrying about him till the end of her life.

Something was odd, though. Kristina was so worried about Noah, so how would she choose to commit suicide? Nina frowned. She was pretty sure that someone killed Kristina instead.

The number one on her list of suspects was Kristina’s boyfriend However, she still couldn’t figure out the reason behind the murder. She still needed to find the exact evidence to support her theory.

There was also a bold assumption that kept on circling in Nina’s mind.

Kristina had probably gotten into a heated argument with the said person and the latter stabbed her in the belly in a fit of anger.

Nina had to continue to investigate on the matter. She needed to find out what they were fighting about.

Her frown deepened at the thought of the bracelet that appeared on the scene of the crime.

There were so many ideas going on through her head at the moment that when she finally thought that she was going somewhere, her thoughts ended up being in a mess again.

It might have helped if she knew more about Kristina and her boyfriend.

“Albert, I wasn’t aware that Kristina has a boyfriend. Apparently, you know about this, so you have at least some information about them right?” Nina blinked at Albert and gave him a look that left him no room to deny the fact.

Albert looked confused for a moment. Afterwards, the corners of his mouth lifted into a small smile. He looked approachable at first glance, but his expression was actually distant.

“Nina, you are too smart sometimes.” His response came out more of as a warning.

Judging from his reaction, Nina could only suspect that the person in question wasn’t someone ordinary.

“Is there anything wrong with being smart?” Nina feigned ignorance.

The fake smile on Albert’s face disappeared and he continued to stare at Nina coldly. Nina, on the other hand, didn’t even flinch as she met him with fearless eyes.

“Nina, aren’t you afraid that you will get yourself into trouble if you know too much?” The warning in Albert’s voice was much more evident this time around.

He was totally different from his usual gentle and elegant appearance.

Nina had never once believed that Albert was as gentle as what he made others see him. Her expression remained unfazed.

After all, how could someone calmly pour a bowl of boiling soup on the back of a waiter’s hand? No good person would respond the same way.

This wasn’t strange at all. He supported the Song family at such a young age. It would be strange if he was not a ruthless man.

“I really want to know more about Aunt Kristina. I want her to be happy.” It was the truth. If Kristina’s boyfriend had nothing to do with her death, she hoped that the man would be able to give her a proper goodbye for the last time.

That way, Kristina would be able to rest in peace.

Albert gave Nina a sidelong glance. Her words had greatly affected him.

As he observed her features, he couldn’t help but agree how she looked very much like Kristina.

Looking at Nina from the side made her appear very much like Kristina.

They said that everyone had a stranger they looked very much alike with, and they were out there somewhere around the world.

Albert thought that it was fate that Nina and Kristina had met.

‘Kristina, is this one of the reasons why you like Nina?’ he thought.

Nina felt awkward. She felt that Albert was seeing Kristine through her.

She was Nina. She wasn’t anyone else.

“What are you looking at? Is there anything on my face?” she asked with a frown.

Albert seemed to have snapped out of his daydream. “No.”

He then turned around and walked to the living room. “Since you want to know the story of Kristina and her boyfriend, I’ll tell you what I know.”

Hope flashed through Nina’s eyes as she hurriedly followed him.

As soon as the two sat on the sofa, Albert first poured a glass of warm water for Nina before starting to tell his story. He didn’t mention that the man was him. In fact, he used another name.

Twenty-three years ago,

Albert’s mother, Ella Tan, was pregnant with him when she discovered that her husband, Andy Song, had a mistress.

She didn’t make a scene when she found out about this. Instead, she tried to ignore the truth.

Even though Ella was an illegitimate daughter of the Tan family, Andy still favored her because of her beauty. He accidentally got her pregnant, and the baby turned out to be a boy.

The baby was Adrian.

The members of the Song family were scarce, so the arrival of a new one brought great to joy to them. Because of this, Andy ended up happily marrying Ella.

Thus, Ella was able to marry into the Song family because of Adrian. However, she didn’t have her family to back her up which left her no choice but to just turn a blind eye to her husband’s affair.

Because she kept it all in, Ella gradually became depressed. This resulted for her to give birth to a child prematurely.

Albert was only eight months in his mother’s stomach when Ella gave birth to him.

Ella continued to suffer from postpartum depression. The light slowly disappeared from her eyes and she looked gloomy all day long. This affected Andy as well. The gloomy aura she was emitting made Andy go home less frequently. Instead, he stayed with other women all day long.

Occasionally, he came back just to check on Albert. He was indifferent to Ella.

Ella felt distressed. In order to keep her husband, she would secretly pinch Albert, who at that time was still a baby. Albert would end up crying hard which put a halt to Andy’s plans on leaving the house.

Albert just kept on crying. His cries were loud and nonstop.

Andy would end up picking Albert up with nervous eyes. Then, he would scold Ella.

“You call yourself a mother? You can’t even take good care of Albert. You even allow him to cry like this.” Andy glared at Ella, and then tried to shush his son. “Good boy, don’t cry. If you keep crying, Daddy will be very worried.”

“Honey, it’s not that I can’t take care of the baby. It’s just that your son wants you to hold him a little longer.” Ella smiled happily in response.

Andy ended up staying at home to be with his child.

The moment Ella discovered this as a means to make her husband stay, she started to twist Albert’s thighs which later on formed bruises. She never really cared about the child. All she only cared about was to make her husband stay.

Her plan became somewhat successful. Andy ended up staying at home for a long time. He eventually became suspicious, however, when his son couldn’t seem to stop crying. After calling for a doctor to check on his son, he finally discovered what was wrong.

Andy was furious. He slapped Ella across the face and ordered her to not get close to Albert. He handed the child over to the nanny and left home in a fit of rage. Three years had passed and he never returned.

Ella continued to hear about various rumors about Andy. The only thing she thought that she could do was to threaten the nanny to give back her baby to her so that she could hurt Albert and make him cry every day. Then, she would call Andy and beg for him to come back.

Although her actions infuriated Andy, he still felt sorry for his son. He actually wanted to return to the Song family, but his mistress kept on stopping him from doing so all the time.

“Andy, why do you care so much about that woman? You already have an older son. Why are you still worried about the younger one? If you want another one, I’m willing to give birth to your children.”

The woman ended up pouncing on Andy, and they continued to make love. Andy gradually forgot about Albert after that.
