MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 3 Episode 5
“What?” Nina’s eyes widened. Her watch was her lucky charm. It had saved her life more times than she could count. How could John order his people to take it?
“Do not touch my watch,” she hissed.
Both Amy and Lena were very skilled in martial arts and were astonishingly strong. No matter how hard Nina struggled, she was still pressed on the bed and could not move like a piece of meat on a chopping block.
When Richard was about to take her watch, John suddenly ordered, “Wait!” Tears welled up in Nina’s eyes as she breathed a sigh of relief. Her watch just might be safe after all.
Unexpectedly, John continued in a cold voice, “I’ll take it myself.”

When Richard was about to take her watch, John suddenly ordered, “Wait!” Tears welled up in Nina’s eyes as she breathed a sigh of relief. Her watch just might be safe after all.
Unexpectedly, John continued in a cold voice, “I’ll take it myself.”
Seeing that John was really coming to take her watch off her wrist, Nina felt her heart start racing again. “John, let’s have a talk, okay? What did I do to make you angry? Why do you treat me this way?”
However, John kept silent. He simply took her watch and stuffed it into his pocket. Then, he asked Amy and Lena to let go of her.
John raised his hand, signaling to the three to leave the room and shut the door behind them.
There were only John and Nina in the bedroom now. She no longer struggled. She still laid on the bed with her hair in complete disarray and a sour smell all over her body.
John sat on the edge of the bed. He looked at her slightly red wrist, frowning.
The two of them remained silent for a few minutes. Then, John stood up and went to the bathroom. He filled the bathtub with warm water. He reached out his hand to feel the water’s temperature before returning to Nina.
Hearing the sound of running water, Nina could not help glancing at the bathroom door. When she saw John come out, she withdrew her gaze and continued to stare at the ceiling.
“I drew you a bath.” John stood by the bed and looked down at Nina.
At the moment, she looked like an abandoned pet that took refuge inside a trash can for a few weeks before she was found and rescued.
Nina turned her head stubbornly and ignored John.
As long as she was here and did not run away, John would not be angry.
“Fine. I’ll bathe you if I have to.” John bent down to pick Nina up.
Nina sat up and moved away. She did not want his help at all.
She rolled out of bed and fell on the floor. She did not want John’s hands all over her.
Her body barked at the impact.
The fall hurt, but Nina just gritted her teeth through the pain. Lying on the floor, Nina closed her eyes tightly. She was so unlucky today.
She did not know why she and people around her were so unlucky recently.
“Are you…” John felt a little worried, but he stopped his words. He extended his hand to help Nina up, but she ignored him. He did not withdraw his hand until she was back on her feet.
Nina put a hand over her waist. She felt something pop in there when she fell. She grimaced in pain, bending forward like an old woman.
As soon as she turned her head, she saw a faint smile on John’s face. She felt like he was mocking her.
This was all his fault. How could he have the nerve to laugh?
“Get out!” Nina bellowed and angrily pointed at the door.
John stared at her hand for a while and noticed something.
“What are you looking at?” Nina withdrew her hand and thought that John must be fantasizing about cutting it off. She swallowed and said timidly, “Are you going to cut off my hand?”
She was afraid of losing her hands or feet.
“No,” John answered. “Don’t think about running out to meet him. Stay here at home where you belong. If you run away again, I will break your legs.”

Seeing that she was finally a little scared, John sneered in a low voice. He decided to punish her for escaping tonight. “You can only drink water in the next two days. Helen won’t bring you anything else.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and walked out, not waiting for Nina to protest.
“Why do you do this to me?
You can’t imprison me here. I’m your equal!”
Nina’s voice bounced off the walls of the bedroom, but it seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. John did not even stop walking. “John, please let’s have a talk, a serious talk. Please stop being so unreasonable.”
Unreasonable?
John stopped and turned his head at Nina. He could not believe what he just heard.
Without uttering one more word, he walked out and slammed the door behind him.
Nina heard the lock on the door click in place. Deep inside, she knew that she could not negotiate with John. With what just happened, it would be way more difficult for her now to escape.
Defeated, she made her way to the bathroom.
The bathtub was already filled with warm water, and there was a medicine box on the sink.
On top of the medicine box was a plaster designed to reduce swelling.
She raised her wrists and stared at them. They were a little red and only then did Nina feel the pain. Amy and Lena pinned her down too hard.
In truth, John was a nice man even though he appeared to be cold. Yes, he was arrogant, but sometimes he was also thoughtful.
However, she did not understand why he stopped her from investigating Kristina’s death. Why did he refuse to tell her where he was yesterday?
Did he know who the murderer was?
Nina carefully stripped and got into the bathtub. The warm water felt so good against her skin that she almost just collapsed under it. She soaked in the bathtub and thought about all her questions, but it did not quell her confusion.
She took a deep breath and let the water swallow her whole.
At this time, John was standing outside, lighting up and smoking one cigarette after another. Trampled cigarette butts now surrounded him like dead soldiers on a battlefield.
He felt utterly conflicted.
Truth be told, the case was not that difficult to solve. If they kept an open mind and came straight to the point, they would find that things were different from what they had imagined.
Nina was not Albert’s spy, and John had not seen Kristina since yesterday afternoon when she came to his office. The two of them were not worried about the same thing at all.
However, John did not like listening to others’ explanation. He did not want to hear Nina’s explanation. In fact, he was afraid of it.
As a powerful man, he was afraid of nobody except Nina.
He was afraid that she would say something that would make him angry and that she would lie to him, so he chose to prevent her from saying anything. It was not a bad thing to lock her up at home like this.
After all, North Yard was their home.
After he finished the last cigarette, he flicked it to the floor and crushed it with his heel. He then turned around and walked into the next room.
At night, he slept in the room next to his and Nina’s bedroom. During the day, he stayed in his study to deal with his business. He did not leave North Yard.
He went on with his life while Nina paced back and forth in the bedroom, anxious.
Looking out into the cool night, Nina frowned. She had been cooped up in the bedroom for a whole day. She had one day left to find the truth about Kristina’s death and possibly prove John innocent.
She had to find a way to get out of North Yard.
She had to go to No. 4 West Forest Street.
The night wind blew over her face, sending a strange yet comfortable sense of peace.
She closed her eyes and filled her lungs to the brim with the cool evening breeze.
The moment she opened her eyes again, she had already come up with an idea. If she could not escape North Yard, then she would have John send her out.
