MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 3 Episode 4
John snapped, “Where is she?”
“We haven’t found her yet,” Amy replied. “Good-for-nothing!” More than a dozen well-trained guards couldn’t keep tabs on one woman.
Nina peered through a tiny gap in her hiding place. She could see that John was absolutely livid. No one dared to breathe too loud, and everyone was nervous under John’s gaze.
“How long has it been?” Richard asked.
Lena answered, “More than ten minutes. After the power was cut in the North Yard, she smashed the glass and ran off.”
“Someone cut the power?” Richard was confused. “Who did that? The North Yard is on a separate circuit. There shouldn’t be any problem, unless someone…”
A thought suddenly dawned on Richard. It startled him. “Mrs. Lu is a hacker.”
So she was the one that did it.
John’s face even more darkened. Hadn’t he already confiscated all her devices? How could she hack into their power system?
John looked at Helen with a sharp, cold eyes. “What happened?”
Helen was pretty confident she was blameless. “I don’t know what went wrong. I grabbed her devices and locked them in the storage room. They’re all there. See for yourself.”
Helen wouldn’t lie to him.
Then how did Nina do it?
There was no time to work that out, though. He just wanted to find her as soon as possible and get her back. There was only one way out of the North Yard. He asked the guards at the door, but they saw nothing unusual, and no one left.
She didn’t get out that way, so she must have climbed the walls.
There was only one way down the mountain. On his way back, he scanned the roadside, seeing if he could catch sight of her.
It had only been ten minutes. She couldn’t have gone that far.
“She must be around here somewhere. Keep looking. Even if we have to turn the North Yard upside down, we must find her.” John raised his voice and was angry by now.
“Yes, sir.” Everyone resumed their search.
Nina was nervous. She was not a prisoner; why did John need to do this? She gritted her teeth and glared at the man.
John sensed something. His gaze swept past the trash can and he returned to it, staring at it intently.
At this moment, Nina shivered. She felt much less safe now, hiding in the trash can. It was like the man’s sharp eyes could pierce right through the trash can and see her.
‘No way. I’m just paranoid…’
Nina murmured in her heart. Even if his eyes could see into people’s hearts, it was impossible for him to penetrate a trash can like an X-ray.
Besides, it was really smelly inside.
John was a neat freak. He hated trash so much he’d get Helen to empty the trash bins twice a day. There was no way he’d pay attention the dirty, stinky trash can. Unfortunately, John was fixated on the trash can.
Although he cursed his subordinates, he also knew they were quite good at their jobs.
It was impossible for them to not find her unless she hid somewhere everyone thought it was impossible to hide.
How could an ordinary person hide in a trash can?
But Nina was not an ordinary person.
“Where’s Nine? Bring him here!” John stared straight at the trash can with his sharp eyes.
Soon, Helen appeared, leading a large dog. John squatted down and stroked Nine’s head. “Nine, go find Mommy.”
‘Bah! I’m his sister.’
Nina didn’t like the way John referred to her. She always referred to herself as Nine’s sister. But John lied to Nine every time, saying Nina was his mommy and he was his daddy.
Nine turned him down and lay on the ground, refusing to move at all.

John’s face darkened again. “Are you going to protect her?”
John was losing his patience. Who was the master of the house?
It was John who bought the dog. But the dog didn’t listen to the man.
Nina breathed a sigh of relief. Nine was more her dog than his.
It helped that she had always been nice to him. He helped her out later on. Like now.
Before she could calm down, she heard John talking to the dog. “Nine, if you can’t find her, she’ll leave you and run away.”
Nina was astounded. How could he lie to a dog? She didn’t know to what depths John would sink.
Hearing this, Nine immediately got to his feet and started sniffing. Then the dog got excited and trotted over to the trash can. When he got there, he sniffed again, and started running in circles.
He barked as he ran around. Then he looked back at John and as he jumped at the lid, trying to knock it open.
John smiled coldly. He said, “I found her.
Open that thing.” John walked over and stopped in front of the trash can. Nina could only see his long legs. She almost couldn’t breathe.
Richard heaved the lid open.
A terrible smell arose from it, strangling him.
John raised his clenched fist and covered his nose. He fixed his eyes on the dirty little woman.
John was angry and worried about her.
She hid in such a foul place. Why? To escape him?
With an icy expression, John ordered, “Get out of there.”
‘Fine! You wouldn’t have found me without Nine.’
Nina reluctantly climbed out. She smelled like garbage. Everyone held their breath.
Nine was excited. He didn’t mind how dirty Nina and kept rubbing against her. Nina wanted to scold the dog. She was icky, and he might get that way too. But when she saw how clingy the dog was, she decided not to.
John raised his hand and said, “Bring her home.”
“No, I can walk myself.” When Nina walked forward, a hint of slyness flashed through John’s eyes.
How could she give in so easily?
John didn’t believe her. He gave Richard a look and asked him to follow her closely.
He strode forward to catch up with her as well.
Seeing no other way, Nina sprinted away, knocking the bodyguard off balance.
When Nina thought she was going to make it, Amy and Lena grabbed her as she tried to pass them. Richard dusted himself off and was there, too.
“Mrs. Shi, this way please.”
Nina pressed her lips tightly and gritted her teeth. She cocked a fist, intending to clock one of the guards. But soon she felt a tightness at her throat, preventing her from moving forward.
John was holding her collar. He bent down and picked the woman up. Then he threw Nina over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and walked back to the bedroom without saying a word.
“John, let go of me!” No matter how much Nina punched or kicked, John was as unyielding as a mountain.
The more Nina resisted, the angrier John became. After throwing her on the bed, he ordered Amy and Lena, “Hold her. Take her watch.”
John had noticed the watch Nina wore was a high-tech one.
