MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 3 Episode 3
“Why did the power turn off?” Amy’s voice sounded in the yard. She looked up at the second floor and said, “One of you guard the stairway and the other, guard Mrs. Shi’s window. You have to be very vigilant.”
“Go and find some flashlights. Use your phones if you can’t find one. Guard North Yard at all costs. I’ll go and see what’s going on,” said Lena in a dignified voice.
Amy pitched in, “I’ll contact Mr. Shi.” North Yard was filled with people now. With the vast number of footsteps, you couldn’t be sure who was coming or going.
In order to stay hidden, Nina dressed in full black so it would be a whole lot easier to escape.
Nina picked up the chair beside her and swung it towards the locked glass window. The broken glass instantly attracted the attention of the bodyguards who were downstairs.
“There was a sound from upstairs.” The guard stepped away from the window, avoiding the glass. He waved over the other bodyguards for some backup.
“What happened?” Immediately, two bodyguards ran over. They guessed that Nina was going to break the glass window to escape.
The approaching footsteps didn’t worry Nina at all. Instead, she smiled, clasped her hands and said, “How could I be so stupid to try and escape from here?”
She deliberately smashed the window to attract all the guards to her.
She turned around in the dark and went into the bathroom.
This afternoon, when she was surveying her surroundings, she found that the window of the bathroom was locked from inside, and there was a pipe outside, which would be more convenient for her to climb down.
Nina opened the window and leapt upwards. She grabbed the window sill with both hands and climbed up. She shimmied her body, moving along the window.
She grabbed the pipe with both hands and slid down.
She landed safe and sound.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, she stared at the green plants in front of her and rolled forward, hiding behind them.
The bodyguard’s voice came to her ears. “She can’t come down here. We should stay here to guard it though. You’d better go back to your position as soon as possible.”
“Okay.” The other bodyguard shone his phone torch around, checking the area and eventually returning to his position. A cold light, swept over the top of Nina’s head. She held her breath.
In the blink of an eye, the light disappeared. Nina took a deep breath, and once again hid in the shadows of the night. She vigilantly monitored her surroundings, ducking and hiding while following the route she had planned in her mind.
There were bodyguards patrolling back and forth around North Yard. They walked steadily, in line with their stern exteriors.
John’s bodyguards were much more powerful than the guards at her house. There were at least ten bodyguards guarding the North Yard, equivalent to one hundred normal guards. Nina didn’t underestimate them at all.
About ten minutes later, Nina was still in North Yard. Her messy hair fell on her forehead and had been stained with sweat. She was on high alert at all times.
This was not exactly a hasty escape, but a planned one. However, she did only conjure up this plan in the afternoon. She knew the basic terrain of North Yard, but she didn’t have it all figured it out yet.
In addition, these wary bodyguards were really choking her movement. She planned to escape in eight minutes. But ten minutes had passed and she hadn’t even finished half the route.
‘Damn!
John is so hard to deal with.
I really don’t know how I offended him. He just knocked me out and trapped me without even saying anything.’
The first day was about to pass, and now there would only be two days left. If she couldn’t prove John’s innocence, Noah was going to take him away for sure. Nina once said that if Noah ever went into his family business, he might have ended up sharing the limelight with John.
Both of them were strong but Noah’s maturity might give him the edge.

“No, it’s too late now. I have to escape as soon as possible.” Nina believed that with Amy and Lena in charge, the power supply would soon return to normal. She had to give it all she’d got.

Nina stood up slowly and made a break for it as soon as the bodyguards turned their backs. She dodged three or four bodyguards in a row, sprinting her life out.
As she was nearing the wall of North Yard, the darkness was shattered by the illumination of the power supply.
Lena seemed to restore the power quicker than expected.
The sudden light dazzled Nina’s eyes. From darkness to light, it seemed like a flare had exploded before everyone’s eyes.
Nina clenched her fists tightly. Her round nails pinched her palms. Her hands began to sweat.
There was an uproar not far away.
“Oh my God! Mrs. Lu is missing!” Helen stood in front of the broken glass window and shouted out loud.
All the bodyguards panicked, and noisy footsteps stomped all around the place.
Amy informed John.
“Find her. Hurry up. It’s impossible for Mrs. Lu to escape from North Yard in ten minutes. Don’t let her get out.” Lena led the bodyguards and began the hunt. They methodically swept through the area, scouring for Nina.
Helping out, Nine also took some action.
Nine had a keen sense of smell and could recognize Nina’s scent no matter what.
The dog’s bark completely stunned Nina. When her vision focused after the blinding light, she saw a blue trash can not far away. It was around the size of a car.
Nina’s eyes flashed.
Without thinking too much, she stood up and ran to the trash can. She opened the lid and jumped in.
All kinds of sourness spread across Nina’s face as she sat in the trash.
“Ewww…” Nina covered her mouth and almost vomited. The smell was vile. The horrific stench was her saving grace though. No matter how acute Nine’s smell was, the smell from all the garbage masked her scent completely.
If Nine managed to find her now, then Nina would have to just accept that at least she tried all she could.
At least Nine loved her enough to find her.
John, however, trapped her and held her against her will.
All that she could hear in the trash can was the sound of her breath and a few flies, buzzing around.
A few mosquito bites popped up on her hands, but she had no time to even pay any attention to them. All she cared about was the people who were searching for her outside. She perked up her ears to listen to what was going on. They searched and searched, but found no trace of her.
When Nina heard the search party’s voices gradually fade, she felt a sense of relief. It was short lived though.
She heard the sudden thud of approaching footsteps, followed by a respectful salute. “Mr. Shi.”
When she heard John’s name, the blood seemed to stop flowing in her body.
Judging from their voices, John was only a few meters away.
Why did he come back so soon?
