MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 3 Episode 13
This was the second time that Albert expressed his love for Kristina.
The first time was when he was seventeen years old. Kristina did not take him seriously, and even got so frightened that she ran away.
As soon as the words left Albert’s lips, Kristina’s heart started pounding against her ribcage. Her ears started ringing, and her world was in slow motion. Albert wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her to his chest.
Truth be told, she wanted to stay there. She wanted to say the words back. But the next moment, she found herself breaking free from Albert’s embrace and running away with tears streaming down her face. She kept running without looking back.
However, Albert did not feel disappointed. In fact, his lips curled in a satisfied smile. He simply watched as Kristina rounded a corner and disappeared.
“Kristina, if I can hold you once, then I can hold you anytime I wish. We have all the time in the world,” he said to himself. Albert had always been very ambitious in business. When he took action, he almost always got what he wanted.
He just needed to be patient with Kristina.
It had been six years since he first met her, and he was not some anxious little boy now.
He understood that it would take some time before Kristina could fully accept the age difference between them.
After all, it was a six-year gap.
It might not be that many for Albert. But for Kristina, six years could qualify as a lifetime.
When she went to college at the age of twenty, Albert was only a junior high school student. When she joined the Ye Group at the age of twenty-three, Albert was only a senior high school student.
Technically, she had even taken care of Albert when they spent all that time together after they met.
He had grown up. Still, he felt this deep connection with her, and it was more than just a simple, innocent crush.
When he held her in his arms just now, she felt her walls crack and crumble. It was only a matter of time before she realized that she had always felt the same. Guilt gnawed on Kristina’s insides like a hungry mouse.
She was angry and a little embarrassed. She grabbed her quilt and pulled it over her head, hoping that it would somehow stifle the emotions that now loomed over her like an approaching storm.
She tossed and turned all night, unable to fall asleep.
She might be feeling all conflicted and confused right now, but one thing was for sure. Never would she turn into a cradle robber.
Kristina pretended to be aloof and calm for more than a month and so did Albert. He still actively cooperated with her and pretended that nothing had happened that night.
Albert was a patient young man. As a businessman, he bided his time when he planned on securing something big. He had all the time in the world to wait for Kristina to change her mind.
Still, he helped her when she ran into trouble. He occasionally asked her out to dinner but made sure to invite Noah along as well so that she would not feel uncomfortable.
Knowing that Kristina liked sweet and sour fish and braised spareribs, Albert hired a famous domestic chef to teach him how to cook those dishes for a whole month.
When he had achieved his goal, he wanted to cook for Kristina, so he invited her over to one of his restaurants. That night, he happened to meet a lady who came to his restaurant for meal. The lady liked Albert and wanted to have a taste of his dishes. Thinking that since it was his first time to cook, it would be best if a lady tasted his cooking and he heard her thoughts. He needed to get some feedback so that he could improve his dishes for Kristina.
However, Kristina saw how the lady batted her eyelashes at Albert. As her heart sank, she turned around and left. It was at that time that Kristina realized that she had already fallen.
She had fallen in love with some brilliant, young businessman who was six years younger than she was.
Looking to heal her broken heart with some liquid courage, Kristina went out drinking at a bar by herself after leaving Albert’s restaurant. Her alcohol tolerance was pretty low, so she passed out after a few drinks but not before calling a private car to take her home.
After telling the driver her address, she fell asleep in the back seat. A few minutes later, the driver woke her up and helped her to her front door.
That night, Kristina wore a silk slip dress under a light gray coat and a pair of high-heeled shoes. After sending the driver away, she fumbled for the keypad on her front door and entered the password. The lock clicked free.
The passcode to her front door was her birthday, and the passcode to Albert’s front door was her birthday too. Kristina staggered in, taking off her coat as she went.
Albert was sitting in the living room with his computer on his lap. He was in the middle of a video conference when he heard his front door open.
He looked up and found Kristina throwing her handbag, shoes, and coat all over the place. She was walking like a zombie, which Albert thought was adorable. The woman could not handle her alcohol to save her life.
“Why is it so hot in here? Why isn’t the air conditioner on?” Kristina moaned, tossing her high heels aside.

Albert immediately turned off the video conference, grabbed the remote control for the air conditioner, and turned it on. “Thank you,” Kristina yelled, raising her hands in the air. Albert just watched her flounder around like an injured cat. It took almost all of his physical strength to keep himself from laughing out loud.

Still in a drunken haze, Kristina turned her head toward Albert. She squinted her eyes, willing her sight to adjust. It took a few seconds before she realized who she was looking at.
“Albert?” she gasped. Her cheeks turned even redder than they already were. She shook her head and then said, “I must be hallucinating.
This is my house. Why are you here?” Without waiting for Albert’s answer, Kristina turned around and went to the bedroom. She fumbled around for a while before she found it.
Albert just followed her in silence. He just watched as Kristina peeled doors open one after another, trying to find the bedroom. When she finally found it, she entered and hurled herself face first on the bed.
It was Albert’s bed.
“How much have you had to drink?” Albert walked up to her, put her in the middle of the bed, and tucked her in. When she heard his voice, she opened her eyes slightly. Albert’s blurry face swam in front of her eyes. Kristina clicked her tongue in annoyance.
Then, she kicked the quilt away angrily.
“What the hell are you doing in my house, Albert? Or am I already dreaming? What the hell are you doing in my dream? Don’t you have a girlfriend to cook for?
Damn, you’re so annoying.” Kristina then grabbed the quilt and pulled it over her head.
Albert knitted his brows in confusion. What girlfriend was Kristina talking about?
Still, he could not help smiling from ear to ear. This was the first time that he saw Kristina in a drunken state. He never thought he would find her even more adorable.
He sat on the edge of the bed and explained, “I don’t have a girlfriend. If you’re talking about that lady at the restaurant, she was just a customer, and I was attending to her. It’s all a misunderstanding.”
“I saw what I saw,” Kristina muttered from under the quilt. With her cheeks puffed up, she bit her tongue to keep herself from screaming.
Albert smiled even wider. “Kristina, are you jealous?” he coaxed.
Kristina suddenly threw aside the quilt and looked at Albert indignantly. She turned away and pouted, “Yes. You said you like me, and then I see you flirting with another woman. It pissed me off.”
Albert looked back at her dotingly. Soon, his eyes were moist. He did not expect Kristina to be so direct about being jealous.
“I didn’t say I like you.”
“You did!” This time, Kristina sat up. Her hair was disheveled, and her dress was pulled up above her knees, exposing her snow-white skin.
Albert took a deep breath and swallowed. He covered her body with the quilt and hugged her tightly. “I said I love you,” he breathed.
Silence followed after that. Then, Albert said in a more serious tone, “I love you, Kristina.”
This time, Kristina decided to not run away. She would follow her heart this time. She returned Albert’s embrace, and let herself sink into his arms.
When they woke up the next day, Albert took advantage of the surprised look on Kristina’s face and said, “You took the initiative last night.”
Kristina could do nothing but cover her face with her hands. She was blushing furiously. She wanted to move and roll out of bed, but the arm wrapped around her waist was firm and strong.
Albert closed his eyes and said softly, “You even asked me to be your boyfriend and protect you all my life. And I said yes.
You know I can’t ever say no to you.” That morning, Albert and Kristina got together.
They got together secretly.
Kristina was not ready to make their relationship known. She was afraid that others would call her terrible names or worse, that Ye Group’s stocks would plummet.
Albert was in love with her, so he agreed to their private arrangement.
Still, Kristina felt guilty because of the age difference between them.
Albert could not bear seeing her suffer because of it, so he visited many couples. These couples were similar to him and Kristina—the women were older than their partners. Albert recorded their love story in a vlog, hoping that it would make Kristina feel better.
