MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 3 Episode 12
Kristina could not believe her ears. Did the seventeen-year-old boy in front of her just tell her he wanted to marry her?
She shook her head and tried to remember a time when she could have possibly given him the wrong hint. She could not be with someone six years younger than she was. It was a terrible idea.
After that day, Kristina started avoiding Albert. She could not entertain him and his unrealistic thoughts. After a while, she decided to go abroad to study and did not return until three years later.
For three years, Albert did not interfere with Kristina’s life. Instead, he kept working hard, and as a result, he was able to seize control of the Song Group, all while silently waiting for Kristina to come back.
Kristina’s life abroad had also been very peaceful, but occasionally, she would think about Noah and Albert. She missed them very much the way a sister missed her brothers.
During the past three years, Kristina had a pen pal named George, a student of L University. The two of them contacted each other through e-mail and had good talks.
Kristina shared some of her life experience abroad to George, and George also shared whatever went on in Lexingport City. She shared a lot of things with him while entirely avoiding anything related to the Song, Shi, and Ye families.
Anyway, George’s e-mails to her had been questions about trivial things like the food she was eating and the place she was living in. Once in a while, he would ask about her love life, which was virtually nonexistent.
She had no time to worry about being in a relationship. The only thing she wanted to think about was how to improve her business skills and become CEO of the Ye Group.
While Kristina was studying abroad, Julie had managed to slip into the Ye Group’s board of directors. When Kristina found out, she immediately packed up and returned home even if she still had one year left to study.
At that time, Kristina was twenty-six years old, and Albert was twenty years old.
Upon her return to the Ye Group, Kristina was able to win a bid and achieve astonishing results in several new projects. She won the favor of the board of directors, who then unanimously appointed her the Ye Group’s new CEO.
Around the same time that Kristina became the Ye Group’s CEO, news of Albert taking over the Song Group was going around. Everyone in the business circle had nothing but praise for him. The Song family’s businesses were flourishing under his watch.
Kristina saw Albert in a totally new light.
Since the two of them were in the same business circle and held high designations, it was inevitable for them to run into each other.
The first time they met in three years was at a party thrown by the Song family.
There were few female CEOs in the business circle. With Kristina’s outstanding credentials and mesmerizing beauty, she won the favor of many.
On the flip side, she also invited unwanted attention, particularly from drunk, rich men at parties. In fact, one of them raised his glass at her and babbled confidently, “Miss Ye, I recently heard that you need to cooperate with someone for a project.
Our company meets your requirements. If you get drunk and party with me tonight, we will sign the contract immediately.”
Kristina glanced sidelong at the half-drunk man and knew that he just wanted to take advantage of her. How could she let such a person succeed? She dipped her chin and politely refused, “I’m sorry, we already found a partner.”
“What? You already found a partner? Who could be more suitable than our company?
Stop talking nonsense, Miss Ye. You need to start making smart decisions if you don’t want the Ye Group to be destroyed in the hands of a woman.”
The man’s words were full of sarcasm, and his eyes glinted with greed. He reached out and was about to put his arm around Kristina’s waist. But Albert suddenly appeared behind Kristina, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her behind him, just like what she did in that alley years ago.
“It seems like we have taken the same interest in the Ye Group’s new project, Mr. Zhou. Unfortunately, I’ve already closed the deal with Miss Ye.”
When Mr. Zhou saw that it was Albert Song who just pulled Kristina away, he slightly sobered up. He knew that young Albert had been doing well in business lately and enjoying a position of absolute power. Admitting defeat, he just smiled and acted according to the circumstances. “Well, congratulations. This is the first cooperation between the Song and Ye families, isn’t it?”
“Yes, Mr. Zhou, but I sincerely hope to collaborate with you in the future,” Albert smiled and replied politely. No one slapped a smiling man.
“We’ll see, Mr. Song. We’ll see,” Mr. Zhou muttered halfheartedly and then turned around and left.
After Mr. Zhou left, Albert turned around and looked at Kristina behind him. The smile on his face deepened and reached the bottom of his heart.
“Your hair is long.”
Kristina thought that Albert would say something like “long time no see” and then proceed to catch up with her. She was caught off guard by his comment on her hair.
Her hair was indeed much longer.
She had not gotten a haircut in three years.
“And you’ve grown taller.” Even in high-heeled shoes, Kristina only stood up to Albert’s shoulders.
Three years ago, they were the same height. In just three years, he grew much taller than her.

He had chestnut hair, a gentle smile, and a dashing suit. The youth he exuded screamed in a room full of old businessmen and women.
But he also looked steady and reliable.
Albert tilted his head and said with a smile, “I did grow a lot in the past three years. I look much older now, don’t I?” Kristina did not answer. She simply blinked.
Albert did not want to frighten her. He was afraid that she would run away again if he picked up where they left off three years ago, so he just smiled and talked to her about normal things.
The two of them chatted for a short while, and then Albert was called away. Kristina watched as a group of women almost swallowed him like a tidal wave.
It was obvious that Albert tried his best to keep a distance from them.
Looking at Albert from a distance, Kristina could not help feeling a little uncomfortable. “Yes, you now look much older, you silly boy,” she muttered to herself.
Kristina eventually got bored of the party and decided to head home early. Her residence then was at No. 4 West Forest Street.
In the following half a year, as a new female CEO, Kristina encountered a lot of difficulties. Every time she encountered problems that she could not solve, she turned to Albert for help and guidance.
One time, two times, three times, four times…
Kristina ultimately lost count.
She used to teach him how to solve math problems, but now he was the one teaching and helping her with business. She needed his help.
During the past six months of working together, Albert had kept a proper distance from Kristina and never mentioned anything about loving her or wanting to marry her.
However, he attended every dinner party that Kristina came to and drank every glass of wine that was meant for her. With that, Kristina just assumed that Albert could hold his alcohol well.
In truth, Albert’s alcohol tolerance was not that high. He thought that if he did not drink Kristina’s drinks, then she would get drunk. He would not have it.
He would rather drink for her and keep her safe than let her get intoxicated and invite all sorts of lurking trouble from arrogant men who thought they were entitled to every woman.
Besides, he already had a system in place. Whenever he felt like he had had too much to drink, he would just go to the bathroom, throw up, sober up, and then do it again. His system worked.
One night, Kristina noticed his sudden disappearance and went looking for him. She found him bent over a wash basin in the men’s room and vomiting his guts out. When he raised his head, his whole face was deathly pale.
Kristina felt the back of her eyes sting. When Albert exited the men’s room, he saw Kristina weeping quietly outside. He immediately put away the tiredness on his face and walked over to her.
However, every step he took toward her seemed to make her sob even more. “What happened? Why are you crying?” he asked.
Kristina simply raised her head and looked at him with guilt in her eyes. He smiled weakly and said, “Please don’t cry. I’m fine.”
Kristina shook her head. The mist in her eyes made her unable to see Albert’s exhausted face clearly.
She knew what was going on.
She could have made Albert stop, but she did not. Seeing him vomiting in the men’s room just now struck a painful cord in her heart.
“Why are you doing this, Albert? Why are you being so kind to me?”
Kristina’s tears were like throwing knives landing on Albert’s heart. He did not think he had ever experienced anything more painful than seeing the love of his life weep.
“Because I love you,” he breathed. It felt so good finally saying it out loud. Those words had been weighing on his chest for a long time. He wanted to put his arms around her and hold her close, but at the same time, he was terrified that she would turn around and walk away just like she did three years ago.
He had never held any woman, and no woman had ever held him.
But this time, Albert decided he would try and hold Kristina.
He walked closer, wrapped his arms around her shoulder, and pressed her against his chest.
He did not hold her too tightly for fear of hurting her.
But at the same time, he was afraid that she would slip away if he did not hold her tightly enough.
He whispered in her ear, “I’ve always loved you, Kristina.”
