MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 93
On the top floor of Time Group, Henry was at his desk when he received a call from Richard.
Henry knocked on the door and entered John’s office. “Mr. Shi, one of the branches caught a traitor. Richard is interrogating her as we speak. A video feed has already been established.”
Henry held the tablet screen in his hand in front of John. On the screen, there was a woman with messy hair and a formal suit with a company logo on the jacket. She was the CFO of Time Group branch.
She was not only an established employee but a senior manager no less.
John had been searching for so long that he didn’t expect the traitor to be holding such a high position.
“Katy Xu, it’s you!” John’s voice was so calm, you’d never believe he was confronted with such treachery.
Anyone who was familiar with John knew how enraged he could get and what misery would befall Katy Xu.
“Ah…” Katy Xu’s desperate scream sounded on the screen, but it didn’t arouse any emotion out of John.
After a while, when Katy Xu appeared on the screen again, her face was swollen, and the red palm print on her face glowed even in the dark room. There was blood at the corner of her mouth and her clothes were stained a bright red.
“Please forgive me, Mr. Shi. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.” Katy Xu cried. “I have a family and children. Please let me go, Mr. Shi. I was deceived by Albert. I haven’t done anything to the company yet.”
Richard said coldly, “If you didn’t get caught today, who knows what you would have done to the company.”
Katy Xu kept groveling, crying and pretending to be sorry. “Mr. Shi, please forgive me. I have parents and children. If something happens to me, who will take care of them? Mr. Shi, I’m really sorry. I’m sorry…”
Her incessant begging made John frown. He said calmly, “I have a family too. If something happens to the company, how can I support my family?”
Hearing this, Katy Xu knew that her fate was sealed.
If she fell into John’s hands, she would experience something worse than death. And if she fell into the hands of Albert, she would suffer, maybe equally as much.
The only hope was that there was still a chance of survival right now. She still had a trick up her sleeve. She had some valuable information on Albert that John would probably love to have.
Katy Xu immediately surrendered, “Mr. Shi, please let me go. I can tell you a secret about the spies that Mr. Song has planted.”
“Oh?” As expected, John was intrigued. He leaned forward slightly and waved at the person in the video. “Help her sit down.”
After Katy Xu sat down and drank some water, she began to negotiate slowly.
“Mr. Shi, after I tell you this secret, will you let me go? I will take my family away from Lexingport City and never come back.”
Katy Xu wasn’t dumb by any means. She was the CFO after all. She still had a firm gaze even though her face was swollen and red.
This was her only bargaining chip to survive.
“Whether I can let you go or not depends on whether the secret you give me is worth your life.” John leaned against the chair behind him, crossed his long legs, and put his hands on both sides of the chair. He looked noble yet nonchalant.
John seemed to be in a good mood.
Whether he would be willing to let go of her or not depended entirely on her now.
Katy Xu calmed down and began to tell them what she knew. “Mr. Song is a suspicious man by nature. Even if I was hiding in the company for five years, he would never really trust me fully. He will constantly be planting spies and not a single one of them will know the others’ identities. But I have worked for Mr. Song for a long time, so I know a lot of tried and tested ways to get information.
Mr. Song’s spies are all over the city, ranging from the three giant groups to some promising companies. We have been working for him for many years and we’ve been placed in many different departments throughout different companies. He usually only places one in a department. Mr. Shi, you have already found the one in the IT department.
But there is still someone else that is very close to you,” she looked at the screen and said affirmatively.
With a frown, John sat up upright, aggrieved. “Go on.”

Katy Xu swallowed and continued, “The spy that Mr. Song arranged for you has the following traits. First of all, the person knew the details of your life, but only details. If they knew any more than that, they would have exposed themselves by now.
Second, they have tried to get close to you but in a very coincidental manner so as to not arouse suspicion.
Third, the person’s family background is clean, or you couldn’t find out anything about them. They could have been an orphan, or they have no living family left.
Fourth, the spy knows Mr. Song, but hasn’t been friends with him for a long time. If the spy meets Mr. Song, they will talk to him very normally and avoid creating any suspicion.”
Katy Xu’s voice didn’t waver at all, echoing throughout both the punishment room and John’s office. John and Henry heard her words crystal clear.
John’s deep eyes stared straight through Katy Xu and he came to the conclusion that she was telling the truth. He wondered who the spy was.
As she had said, Albert was paranoid and he wouldn’t trust anyone.
But since Katy Xu had worked for Albert for such a long time, she had to know him inside and out.
“Send her out of the city.” John trusted Katy Xu and chose to keep his promise. Tears welled up in her eyes. She stood up and bowed, “Thank you, Mr. Shi. Thank you for sparing my life.”
After Richard took her away, he stood in front of the camera and said to John on the screen, “According to the several conditions that Katy Xu gave, I have already selected a few people around you. I have identified a very special person that I can only disclose with your permission.”
John raised his head and stared at Richard as if he already knew what he was going to say.
John scrunched his face, furrowing his eyebrows.
“Who do you suspect?”
Henry was standing in front of John. He couldn’t see what was happening on the screen, so he could only listen intently. Richard said confidently, “Mr. Shi, I think Mrs. Shi is the culprit. First of all, we failed to investigate her family background. Secondly, she knew Albert two years ago. Lastly, you and her met…”
“How dare you!” With a sullen look in John’s eyes, he slapped the table with his forceful palm, with the tablet crashing to the floor. Looking through the screen, Richard couldn’t see John anymore but he could feel his anger.
Henry held his breath. After a while, he said cautiously, “But Mr. Shi’s father found Mrs. Shi and chose her to be his daughter-in-law.”
Richard’s mission in life was to protect John. He disagreed with what Henry said. “Mr. Sam Shi got the marriage licenses for Mr. and Mrs. Shi two years ago, but Mrs. Shi only met Ms. Shi a little over two months ago.”
With his deep and unpredictable eyes, John snapped, “I don’t want to hear your suspicions again. Send someone to keep an eye on Albert.”
Then he stood up and drove back to North Yard.
He left the car window wide open feeling the piercing wind whistle against him as he sped home.
Richard’s guess was reasonable and the constant thought of it felt like a thorn in John’s side.
He didn’t want to doubt Nina.
But she had been acting suspicious recently. She was very attentive for no real reason.
It just so happened to coincide with his most turbulent conflict with Albert.
‘My little girl, don’t let me doubt you.’
