MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 92
When James turned around, Emma was gone.
“Go to L Communication University,” Emma told the cab driver.
“Emma, wait! Where are you going?” James yelled. But Emma did not look back. As soon as she shut her door, her cab sped away.
The employees of Sunshine Entertainment heard all the noise and ran out to see what was going on. The company security guards fought James’ bodyguards. It was not actually a fair fight.
All of James’ bodyguards were highly trained. These ordinary security guards were not enough to even rattle them.
The receptionist shouted, panicking, “Stop! Stop! What are you doing? Stop right now, or I’ll call the police!” She hurriedly picked up her mobile phone, dialed the police, and pressed the phone against her ear.
Since Emma left him, James was already in a bad mood. Upon hearing the receptionist, he was fuming mad.
He walked slowly with his head cocked to the side. His shoes made clicking sounds against the tiled floor. He looked like a ruffian, but one who hailed from a very rich and powerful family.
“Call the police, you say? Do you not know who I am?” James asked menacingly.
“I don’t care who you are. Nobody walks into Sunshine Entertainment building, messes things up, and gets away with it. You’re screwed,” the receptionist spat.
James flashed her a crooked smile. The lady clearly had no idea who he was. He pointed at himself and said arrogantly, “My name is James Shi.”
The receptionist froze as if someone had just dumped a bucket of ice water on her head.
Everyone in the city knew who James was. As soon as James’ introduction reached her ears, the receptionist lost her grip on her phone, sending it clattering to the floor. She felt her knees buckle.
Nobody dared to offend anyone from the Shi family, especially someone like James who was close to John. Anyone who offended him offended John.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Mr. Shi. I didn’t mean it.” The receptionist apologized in an instant, squatting down and picking up her phone that now had a cracked screen. Then, she turned around and ran to the elevators. As soon as she got in, she dialed Adela’s number.
When Adela arrived, James had already left with his bodyguards.
The lobby was a complete mess. Adela looked around and took a deep breath. Right then and there, she decided that many of her people were going to lose their jobs today.
The news soon reached the North Yard.
Henry narrated the entire event to John in his study. Instead of getting angry, John smiled.
He was finally seeing James’ courage and uprightness.
The Zhu family enjoyed a high status in the city. John thought that they were owed an explanation for what happened, so he ordered, “Go to the Zhu family.
Comfort them and give them a warning.”
“Consider it done,” Henry replied, turned around, and left the room.
Nina was sitting in one of the chairs in front of John’s desk. After Henry left, John picked up a bunch of papers and laid them in front of Nina.
“Sign my name here.”
Nina picked up John’s pen and held it in her hand. Since John’s hand was still hurt, he could not sign the document himself.
“Is it all right for me to do this?” she asked.
“Just sign them.” John impatiently tapped the table with his left finger.
Nina thought that since she was John’s hands now, she could sign the papers. Maybe she was just nervous because John was leaning too close to her again.
She could feel his warm, minty breath caressing her ear and cheek. Every time he was that close, she could hear her heartbeat going crazy in her ears. It was awfully distracting.
Then, she finally signed the papers, but she signed her own name out of habit. It took a few seconds before she realized her mistake. When she came to her senses, it was already too late.
However, John did not get angry. He reached out his hand and rubbed her head, pointing at the blank area behind her name. “That’s fine. Just sign my name behind yours.”
Nina was stunned. “Is that okay?” she asked.
“Yes,” John nodded, winking at his wife.
The document was the rehabilitation plan for the old town. Once that place was restored, it would be John’s gift to Nina.
In the following days, Nina helped John with anything that required the use of his hands.
Nina’s feet did not touch the ground at all. She was either lying in bed, sitting on the sofa, or getting a piggyback ride on John’s back.
Half a month passed.
When Kristina was discharged from the hospital on a weekend, Nina happened to have time to pick her up and drive her back to the Ye Group.
The entire trip, Kristina was frowning.
“Are you okay?” Nina asked. She guessed that Kristina was unhappy because Noah had to go back to work again. The dangerous nature of his job had always bothered her.

Kristina sighed, “There is something wrong with the company.”
It was not the Ye Group but the Song Group.
She did not hear the news until last night. John had cut off half of the Song Group’s overseas businesses. Now the Song Group was facing a huge financial difficulty. Albert had been so busy that others could not find him. Nobody had heard from him for a long time.
It drove Kristina crazy.
After thinking for a while, she said to Nina, “Please drive me to the Time Group. I have something important to discuss with Mr. Shi.”
Kristina wanted to beg John to leave Albert alone.
Nina agreed to Kristina’s request and drove her to the Time Group. Kristina did not want Nina to know about what she wanted to talk to John about, so she sent her on an errand to keep her busy.
Handing Nina a list, Kristina said, “I asked someone to buy these things, but they got sent to the company address by accident. Can you please help me send them to No. 4 West Forest Street?”
“Okay,” Nina just nodded without hesitation. She knew that Kristina was sending her away on purpose. She did not mind at all. After all, she had no interest in business affairs.
After waving Nina goodbye, Kristina entered the Time Group. After introducing herself to the nice lady manning the front desk, she took the elevator that went straight to the CEO’s office, which was at the top floor.
Henry was startled to see Kristina. “Miss Ye? What brings you here?” he asked.
This was not the first time that Kristina had seen Henry, but this was the first time that she had seen him in close proximity. He was a gentleman with a kind, scholarly face. She could not help taking a few more glances.
“Are you here for Mr. Shi? Please wait a moment. Let me inform him of your arrival.”
Without waiting for a response, Henry turned around and walked into John’s office.
Looking at Henry’s back, Kristina felt that he looked like someone familiar. She said thoughtfully, “Henry, your surname is Ye, isn’t it? Do you think we may be related?”
Henry paused and turned to look at Kristina. “I doubt it, Miss Ye,” he simply answered.
He then proceeded to enter John’s office, keeping Kristina from seeing that his face had turned pale. His heart started beating madly against his chest.
Kristina almost recognized him.
Shaking off the building anxiety, Henry approached John’s desk. “Mr. Shi, Miss Ye is here to see you,” he announced.
Sitting on his comfortable executive’s chair, John raised his head and looked over Henry’s shoulder. He saw the anxious, pacing Kristina through the crack of the door.
“All right. Send her in.” John guessed that Kristina and Noah had always been on good terms with Albert. She must have come here to persuade him to let Albert go.
Kristina had saved his little girl, so it was natural for him to meet her.
As for letting Albert go, it was impossible.
“You may come in, Miss Ye.” Henry did not look at her. He stepped aside and ushered her into John’s office while maintaining a considerable distance. Kristina walked into John’s office and closed the door behind her.
Any CEO in their right mind would build their office with good soundproofing, so Kristina was confident that whatever she told John would not leave the four walls of his office.
Twenty minutes later, an expressionless Kristina walked out of John’s office and entered the elevator. Obviously, her request was turned down. She looked depressed.
She rushed out of the elevator where she bumped into a short man, knocking the gift bag off his hand as a result.
The box in the bag tumbled out and rolled into a corner.
“I’m sorry, I’m not feeling well,” Kristina murmured.
“It’s okay. No harm done,” the man replied, picking up the box without really looking at it and stuffing it back into the gift bag.
After the man left, Kristina caught a glimpse of something white and shiny on the floor. It was a pearl bracelet. She picked it up and realized that it must belong to the man she just bumped into. It must have slipped out of the box.
There was no way she could find that man now, so Kristina just decided to leave the bracelet at the front desk and let them sort it out.
Before she reached the front desk, her phone rang. Albert was calling.
As soon as the line connected, Albert’s angry voice came through. “Kristina, why did you go see him?
I’m at West Forest Street. I need to see you now.”
Kristina had never heard Albert use that tone on her before.
As far as she knew, Albert had a grudge against her for worshiping John before. No man could ever tolerate his woman worshiping other men.
“I’m on my way.” Afraid that any more delay would make Albert even angrier, Kristina hurried out the Time Group, shoving the bracelet into her pocket.
It was an ordinary bracelet, but it was about to stir up a tidal wave of trouble.
