MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 88
Remembering Albert’s advice, Noah answered, “Just a guy I know. We played together as kids.”
Hearing it was a man, Nina lost interest.
When Kristina heard that, she guessed who was outside. She also deliberately concealed it, pouted and said, “You should know better. He only hangs out with guys, and there are only two women in his life—you and me.”
Noah retorted, “Well, most of the victims in the cases I’ve taken on are women.
Sometimes I meet their families—”
“Stop it! Just shut up!” The more Kristina heard, the more upset she became. Her eyes trembled in their sockets. “How did my sister-in-law and brother give birth to a monster like you?”
Nina couldn’t help laughing. Realizing that it was not appropriate, she immediately stopped smiling and pretended she didn’t hear a thing.
Most of the time, Nina and Kristina passed the time with pleasant conversation, and John sat on the sofa, busy with phone or laptop keeping the company running.
But John stayed busy to keep his mind off things. He could stop thinking about Nina joking around with Noah. If he weren’t busy, he wouldn’t stand it.
Right now, they were talking and laughing, having a great time. Of course, what they were talking about bored him. He stopped focusing on the documents he was reviewing and started looking around the room. His gaze was far-ranging, his jealousy surged from all directions and almost devoured him.
Finally, he couldn’t bear it anymore and closed the laptop. He raised his eyes slowly and began to spout lies, trying to get her to break up this little soiree. “The doctor said you can leave the hospital now.”
It was the second day that Nina was hospitalized.
Her sprained ankle was still swollen.
The conversation in the ward suddenly stopped. Six pairs of eyes regarded the jealous, domineering man on the sofa. John checked the time. “Might want to wrap things up here. It’ll take a bit till I can get her discharged. You probably have another half-hour or so.”
Rolling her eyes, Nina raised her blue and swollen foot and moved it around. “Are you sure I can leave the hospital like this?”
John was indifferent as usual. “It won’t kill you.”
Kristina was speechless. How could he say that to his wife?
Noah had an idea of what was going on. Albert once told him John got jealous easily. And this proved it. Nina was spending more time with them than she spent with John.
“Nina, you need to pay more attention to your ankle. Take care of yourself when you get home. I’ll take care of my aunt. Don’t worry.”
Nina wasn’t bothered too much by her sprain, but she was still worried about Kristina. “Aunt…”
“It will only cause problems if you stay here.” That was John. His voice sounded strained, and he shook the newspaper in his hand angrily.
After a while, Kristina realized that it was not Nina causing the problem. It was them causing problems for John.
For the past two days, they hadn’t been intimate at all. Kristina began to wonder if there were some kind of rift between them.
If Kristina hadn’t investigated the noises coming from the bathroom, Nina might have gotten a nasty shock.
John was being as polite as he could, probably because Kristina had saved Nina’s life.
“Nina, I’m fine. Noah’s taking care of me here. But maybe you should go to Kanner Hospital instead. They’ve got better equipment. Your ankle might get better faster. Even if you don’t go there, Mr. Shi will hire the best orthopedist for in-home care. You’ll be on your feet in no time. As for me…” Kristina gave Nina a look. The girl should know what Kristina was getting at.
It was crystal clear to Nina. Kristina just wanted to keep Noah around for a few more days.
“Okay.” Nina nodded in agreement.
After a while, he hooked his hands under her armpits and hauled her up.
“John, what are you doing? People will stare at us!”
Her face turned red when she saw that Kristina and Noah were indeed staring at them. She buried her head in the man’s shoulder. But the glint of her wet eyes was still visible, like the glow of the sunset half-hidden by clouds.
“It doesn’t matter.” Noah was calm, but Kristina was worried.
Noah had never liked anyone in the past. Perhaps he didn’t know he had other feelings for Nina.
It was good that Noah didn’t know.
Now it was better to see more about the love between John and Nina. Noah could wipe away the blurry feelings before it was too late.

Noah’s chest tightened, and he didn’t know why. He shrugged it off quickly. “Need any help packing up?” he asked. “No, thanks.” John had always been indifferent.
Then John left, Nina draped over his back. With her legs swaying, she patted him on the shoulder and said, “Didn’t you say we had a half-hour? It’s only been ten minutes. Why are you in such a hurry?”
‘Why? Because I can’t wait to get back to North Yard. That way I get you all to myself!’
She was obsessed with Kristina. She wanted to hang out with her all the time, and even sleep in the same bed. That wasn’t going to happen–not if he had anything to say about it.
She already hurt her foot. He didn’t want to get angry and hurt her more.
But day by day she became more demanding, even thinking of staying with Kristina for a week or more.
Did she think he was dead?
“Because I know you need to get some rest. I want to get to North Yard ASAP.” Then John clapped his hand on Nina’s waist and said angrily, “And quit squirming. It’s kinda turning me on. I might have to take care of those urges.”
Nina immediately stopped moving around so much.
She just let him carry her away. As soon as they walked out of the hospital, Henry dealt with the checkout arrangements.
John held her in his arms on their way back. He hadn’t been able to hold her for a day and a night.
Nina was also a little greedy for his embrace. She was obedient and lovable like a cat, satisfied with being held this way.
His scent made her feel right at home. She fell into a light sleep on the way to North Yard.
By the time she opened her eyes, John had already taken her upstairs, opened the door and entered the master bedroom.
“Did you get enough sleep?” John smiled and his mood improved now that they were home.
This was a place for the two of them. They two could do whatever they liked and no one would disturb them.
He set Nina down on the bed, and sat there himself. She smiled, stretched her body languorously and asked, “Am I heavy?”
“Yes, like a pig.” Then John patted her slender waist gently.
The little girl’s waist was so thin but she wasn’t bony.
Nina’s smile vanished.
Why did he sometimes spit poison like a viper?
She curled her lips and looked up, only to see a large painting of the photo on their marriage certificate hanging on the wall.
John was in that painting, and he looked ugly.
The anger in her heart subsided. She couldn’t help snickering when she thought of John tearing down the painting in the middle of the night. Countless times.
Every time John destroyed a painting, she would paint a new one and hang it up the next day.
She could create as fast as he could destroy.
Reluctantly, he resigned himself to fate. He stopped tearing the paintings down. Every time he saw it, though, his face would turn as dark as the bottom of a pan, and so he simply stopped looking in that direction.
“You’re smiling? Did you hit your head when you came in just now?” John asked in a deep voice.
The corners of Nina’s mouth froze. Was there no end to his vitriol?
“How about we take this painting down?” Nina thought he was a proud man. This painting hung here every day really hurt his ego. She didn’t complain and bit back a retort.
There was a trace of suspicion on his face. John felt something was off.
Was she trying to please him?
