MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 87
Albert just sat there and watched Isabella stumble, the car chasing after her.
He watched it with great interest, like a cheetah savoring the hunt.
Isabella was the prey.
Albert regarded it as training.
The man was excited by Isabella’s struggles, and impressed by her determination. She was much smarter and braver than Hailee.
Albert gave her a simple task, but Hailee screwed it up. She killed the people who hurt her. She thought she did it flawlessly, but she was caught in the end.
She deserved her sentence—life in prison.
Isabella was different. Smarter, more tenacious. She learned from her mistakes. She could be trained to become a useful tool. Such a girl might help him remove many obstacles in the future.
But right now, she was just exhausted. She had used everything in her bag of tricks, but she just couldn’t shake the car that was chasing her. The car was like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Gum she couldn’t scrape off.
Albert figured she was probably done for the day. He pressed a button on his headset and told Ford, “She’s had enough. Let’s wrap this up.”
Ford deliberately turned the car around. Isabella stopped and collapsed on the ground.
But she wasn’t given much respite. Ford ruthlessly pulled her to her feet. He nodded for her to follow and stalked off. She staggered behind him.
Albert stood up and gave one final order. “Take her to wash up and send her back to the Zhang family.” With that, he climbed in his car and zoomed away.
Albert arrived at the hospital and headed for Isabella’s ward.
He guessed that Noah or John must be close by, waiting to interrogate Isabella.
He promised to help Isabella solve this problem.
As soon as he arrived at the entrance to Isabella’s ward, he saw Glenn pacing back and forth. Through the open door, he could see Amelia and Noah.
Amelia answered Noah’s questions with a calm face, never giving herself away.
“Mr. Zhang, what’s wrong?” Albert walked over, smiling.
Glenn raised his head and saw Albert. Glenn rushed over to him. “Mr. Song, please help Isabella. Mr. Ye says she’s the suspect in a vehicular assault case. Crazy, huh? The damnable thing is we can’t find her. Mr. Ye thinks she might have run off to avoid jail time. She’s one of the sweetest women I know. There’s no way she’d try to hit someone with her car.
Mr. Song, please help my daughter!” Poor Glenn. He had only one daughter, Isabella. He always turned a blind eye to her arrogance and unruliness.
Now she was suspected of causing intentional injury, and she might go to jail.
Albert comforted him. “Don’t worry. I’ve investigated it thoroughly. It’s not Isabella’s fault and she’s not a flight risk. I sent her back to your family because she didn’t want to stay in the hospital.”
Noah and Amelia walked out of the ward. They heard a familiar voice.
Noah was surprised. “Albert? Why are you here?”
Amelia was surprised and pleased to see her daughter’s future husband. She put on a flattering smile, and asked, “Mr. Song, are you here to visit Isabella?
Come in and grab a seat. I have no idea where she went. She should be back any time now.”
“I sent Isabella back to your family. Sorry I didn’t tell you. Kinda slipped my mind.” Albert looked at Noah and said, “Noah, I’ve got it handled. She was set up. The police picked up the guy who sabotaged the brakes.”
“Thank you so much, Mr. Song,” Glenn said excitedly.
“I’ll drop by the station later.” Noah had no doubts. He trusted Albert.
It was all thanks to Kristina.
She was six years older than Albert. She looked out for him when he was 14. Since then, Albert had been good to Kristina and Noah.
Kristina and Albert were Noah’s playmates. The three of them had gotten quite close.
Albert cared more about Kristina than Noah did. Noah kept this in mind.

Noah walked up to Albert and said, “My aunt is upstairs. Did you want to see her?”
“Sure. Lead on.” Albert also treated Noah sincerely.
Love me, love my dog.
Albert always knew that Noah was the only member of Ye family that Kristina loved.
Albert and Noah entered the elevator, talking, laughing, clapping each other on the back. Without other people around, Noah was free to get personal with Albert. “What’s going on between you and Isabella, anyway?”
‘She’ll be my hired gun, doing whatever I ask.’
Of course Albert couldn’t tell Noah that. He just smiled and said, “Isabella’s been a big help so far. That’s what’s going on.”
“Makes sense. When you were a kid, you said you wanted to marry someone like my aunt. From what I can tell, Isabella seems to be…” Noah didn’t go on. He didn’t want to say bad things about other people.
“Manipulative? Arrogant? Domineering? Are those the words you’re looking for?” Albert continued with a smile.
Noah didn’t answer, which meant he agreed with Albert.
Hands in his pockets, Albert teased him, “Kristina was also pretty bossy and demanding when she was a kid. She had to be, to stick up for you like she did. She even argued with Julie and Vivian for your sake, forcing them into stunned silence.”
Albert knew everything about Kristina, and he could talk all day about her.
But he didn’t. He knew her well, and no one else deserved to know how wonderful she was.
Noah slapped Albert’s back, giving him a jolt of pain.
“That’s enough!”
“Dammit, Noah! That hurts. Did you have to hit me so hard? Wait till I tell Kristina!” Albert pursed his lips, pretending to be angry.
“Well, she may be partial to you when we were young. But now, she will side with me,” Noah said proudly.
Albert didn’t know what to say.
Noah was right. Kristina was more likely to side with him.
Forget it. After all, Noah was the family member Kristina cared about most. Albert didn’t take it seriously.
They arrived upstairs and walked out of the elevator. The two men wound their way through the corridors of the hospital.
As soon as they approached the ward, they heard Nina and John talking. Albert stopped. “Are Mr. Shi and Nina also here?”
Confused, Noah asked, “You know Nina?”
“Oh yeah. We are schoolmates. She looks a lot like Kristina, doesn’t she?” Albert asked frankly. Then he looked inside and said, “Since Mr. Shi and Nina are in there, I think it would be best for me to go.”
Recently, John had been trying to get Albert’s overseas business. They were now competing so it was not appropriate for them to meet now.
Besides, John and Nina would figure out that Albert and Kristina were linked. And that meant nothing but trouble.
Noah looked at Albert curiously. He was acting strange.
Albert explained, “Actually, there was a rumor that Nina and I were boyfriend and girlfriend, but it was really just a rumor. I’m afraid that Mr. Shi might get jealous. So there will be less drama if I stay away.
I’m taking off.” Albert turned around and waved. “Don’t tell them I was here.”
Noah didn’t ask any more questions and walked into the ward.
Nina gave Noah a conspiratorial look. “Who were you talking to outside the ward just now?
A guy or a girl?” Everyone stared at her for asking such an odd question.
But all Nina wanted was to fix Noah up with someone, just like Kristina asked. It would be easier if he was talking to a girl.
