MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 84
Vivian felt wronged and didn’t understand why John was against her. He was not like this before.
Even if he never took the initiative to talk to her, or even bothered to respond to her, at least he had never treated her badly, much less joined in with others to bully her.
She was a Ye, how could she be expected to serve others?
She was not at all willing to take care of her aunt, and she knew the older woman did not like her either.
But her aunt held 37% shares of Ye Group, more than anyone else in her family. Even her father only had 13% shares, while her brother had 22% shares.
Kristina was the biggest shareholder of Ye Group. She had the most right to decide who would be qualified to be the company president in the future.
Vivian knew the stakes, so she heeded her mother’s words and strove to suck up to Kristina.
Still, she didn’t seem to be succeeding in earning her favor.
Vivian only intended to grab the opportunity to cozy up to Kristina and get an idea about how the older woman’s mind worked. She had to learn what made her aunt tick so she could anticipate her future plans and movements, especially when it had to do with Kristina’s share distribution.
This was the only reason Vivian was doing this. Otherwise she would never want to be of service to a woman she despised.
“Noah, it doesn’t matter,” Vivian said gently and shook her head. Then she turned to John. “Mr. Shi, I’m willing to take care of Nina.”
“Don’t call my wife’s first name so casually in the future. Remember to address her as Mrs. Shi,” John said coldly.
Vivian’s breath caught in her throat. She had always called Nina by her name, and she hated that she had to publicly acknowledge the other woman as John’s legal wife.
‘Did Brother John just ask me to call that bitch Mrs. Shi?
Nina doesn’t deserve that title!
Why? I don’t want to call her Mrs. Shi!’ Nina was floating in the clouds with joy at her husband’s sweet and protective display.
Somehow, she felt bad at seeing Vivian get bullied like this. It was indeed cruel for a woman to be forced to lower herself to the wife of the one she loved.
Vivian had never done anything wrong to her anyway, so there was no reason to be so petty with these things.
“Miss Ye is from a prestigious family. It’s rather inappropriate for her to address me so formally. Just call me Nina,” Nina said kindly.
“Thank you for your understanding,” Vivian quickly replied. She was smart enough to know when to take advantage of the situation.
Luckily, John did not refute his wife’s suggestion.
As long as it wasn’t another man that Nina was being kind to, he could find it in himself to listen to her, albeit reluctantly.
“Noah…” On the hospital bed, Kristina’s fingers twitched as she tried to call for her nephew. Her voice was low and raspy, and her eyes blinked a couple of times to reveal a still dazed look in her eyes.
“Aunt Kristina! Are you awake?” Since Nina was the closest to the bed, she was the first to hear Kristina’s weak voice. She clutched the older woman’s hand with hopeful excitement.
“Aunt Kristina is awake?” Noah strode over and stood on the other side of the bed. He bent over and stared at his aunt, his eyes moistening. “Aunt, you’re awake. How do you feel?”
Kristina finally opened her eyes wide, and the first thing she saw was Noah. She didn’t want him to worry about her, so she gave him a faint smile. “I’m fine. I just passed out because of fear. I made you worried. By the way, where is Nina? How is she?”
There was worry in her eyes as she asked about the girl.
“Aunt Kristina, I’m fine. I’m here.” Nina took her hand. She turned around and felt awash with relief when she saw Nina’s smile.
“That’s good. That’s good. And so is Noah. He has come back safe and sound. Now that you are both fine, I’m relieved. ” Her nephew was the one that she cared about the most, the very person who made her worried all the time.
“Aunt Kristina, everything is okay. The case has been handed over to Tom, and Director Shen has approved my leave of absence. He even asked me to take care of you until you leave the hospital.” Noah tucked the edges of Kristina’s blanket and put her hand, which was attached to an intravenous drip, beneath the sheet.
“Really? Ouch…” Kristina was so excited to hear it that she tried to get up from the bed. She had to press on the bed with two hands to do so, and hurt her injured elbow in the process. She took a deep breath as the pain coursed through the rest of her body.

Nina was instantly anxious. “Aunt Kristina, why are you trying to get up? Just lie down.”
Noah was even more worried. He held his aunt’s shoulder and slowly helped her back down to her pillows. “It’s my fault,” he said regretfully, blaming himself for the incident. “I’m always too busy to come back to see you.”
“So you know it, too!” Kristina rolled her eyes and winced at the pain on her back. Tearing up from the sensation, she motioned at Noah. “Raise the bed a little. It’s too uncomfortable to lie like this.” Noah hurriedly did as he was told.
“Aunt Kristina, are you okay?” Vivian took the momentary lull to interject. “My parents asked me to come to see you.
I’m so relieved to see that you are fine.” It was not until then that Kristina noticed her presence in the room. She looked at her niece indifferently. “I’m fine. Don’t worry, I won’t die.”
Embarrassed, Vivian stood aside and kept silent to keep from aggravating her aunt any further.
“Noah, how long did Uncle Shen approve your leave for?” Kristina turned back to Noah with a warm expression on her face.
He had just finished adjusting the height of the bed, and he clapped his hands to dust off his palms as he straightened.
“Just three days. But I don’t have to show up at the police station until you leave the hospital. I can work remotely from here.”
“Really?” Kristina’s eyes glinted bright with glee. When Noah nodded in confirmation, her whole face lit up. “Then how long do I need to stay in hospital?”
“A week. The doctor said you could be discharged from the hospital after a week of observation. That way they could make sure that there really is nothing seriously wrong with your body.”
“Only a week? That’s too short.” Kristina was dissatisfied. Having Noah around for just a week was not enough.
A streak of cunning flashed in her eyes, and her expression changed. She began to scream in agony. “Ouch, ouch, it hurts, my back hurts, my hands hurt, and my head is so dizzy…”
“Aunt Kristina, what’s wrong, where does it hurt the most?” Nina immediately moved closer to check on her. She stopped halfway when Kristina winked at her, resembling a sly fox. Then the older woman continued her cries of pain. “Oh, I think my body is not in good condition at all. I think I may need to stay in the hospital for half a month.”
Nina could only stare, speechless.
Noah, on the other hand, was ridden with worry, and he shuffled around, not knowing what to do. But when he heard the last part of her aunt’s monologue, he finally sighed in understanding. “Aunt Kristina…”
Kristina knew that he had seen through her trick, but so what? She persisted on her charade. “Oh, I really can’t do it. I feel so depressed, I’m having difficulty breathing…”
She started gasping for air. Holding back her laughter, Nina asked, “Aunt Kristina, will you really recover after staying here for half a month?”
“Yes, I will.” The older woman nodded in earnest. Then she put a hand to her head and fainted right into Nina’s outstretched arms. Her eyes were closed for only three seconds before she risked a peek at Noah, then promptly shut them tight again.
Noah rubbed his forehead. “All right, half a month then.”
“Oh, I’m feeling better now.” Kristina opened her eyes and sat up on the bed, indeed looking much better than she ever had since getting admitted. “You had better keep your word, I have a witness here. Nina heard it clearly just now. I’ll be in hospital for half a month, and you have stay and take care of me the whole time.”
Kristina shook Nina’s hand, and Nina joined in on her con act. “Noah, a word spoken by a gentleman cannot be taken back, I’m sure you know.”
“I know, I know. I will stay with Aunt Kristina in the hospital for the next half month.” Noah was helpless about it, but he still smiled gently.
It would indeed be better to spend more time with Kristina.
Kristina laughed happily as they sealed of the deal, and Nina laughed alongside her.
John was sitting on the sofa this entire time, and after what he just witnessed, his back straightened unconsciously. A slight frown furrowed his brow.
He had just learned something.
He had just learned a new technique from Kristina, and it could be summed up succinctly in two words: acting shamelessly.
He had to hand it to her; despite Kristina being a little rascal, her underhanded move worked well.
