MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 75
Early the next morning Since they didn’t make love the night before, Nina had a long and good sleep last night which caused her to wake up a little late.
She glanced over the clock the moment she opened her eyes, and realized that it was already eight in the morning. In fact, her class started at eight twenty.
Nina’s eyes widened upon seeing the time. She gasped loudly and immediately scrambled to get some clothes for her to change into before rushing towards the door.
Her loud footsteps echoed through the floor while she practically made a run for it.
Nina dashed down the stairs with her eyes now wide awake.
“Helen! Give me the keys to the car. I’m late for class!” She sprinted so fast that she failed to notice the man sitting at the table who was currently waiting for her to have some breakfast.
Nina thought he had already left for work.
“Since you’re already late for class, let’s go after breakfast.” John took his time pouring some milk in a glass for Nina and placed it next to him.
Hearing his voice, Nina stopped and turned around to realize that he was still at home. She had a surprised expression on her face for a few seconds before it returned to normal.
“Car keys.” Nina stretched her hand out in an impatient manner.
Seeing that she was seriously in a hurry, he grabbed the keys and threw them over to her. Nina reached her hand up and caught them perfectly.
“Thank you, ho…” She immediately pressed her lips shut. Nina had almost addressed him as honey. She then cleared her throat and changed her tone. “Thank you, John.”
After getting the car keys, she hurried out the door.
John wasn’t able to hear her because of her soft voice. His lips slightly curled upward before he reached out to grab the glass of milk. He drank only half of it before he stood up as well and left for work.
Since the Rolls-Royce Nina had been driving had a special and distinct license plate number, the road had been steered clear for her as she made her way to school.
She was already late for her first class the moment she had arrived.
Nina hoped to enter the classroom before the next class, but the professor seemed so eager with today’s lesson that the ten minute break between classes had been occupied.
She let out a deep sigh and felt helpless. Nina had no choice but to miss her next class as well.
On her way back to North Yard, Nina decided to take a detour and steered the car to the direction of where Time Group was located.
It was already nine in the morning and rush hour was over at Lexingport City. Classrooms were already occupied with students, and companies were already filled with employees. The previously congested roads were already clearing up and the traffic was already calming down.
Nina drove past the entrance of the park, and she caught a glimpse of the many flowers in white, red and yellow blooming happily inside. They reminded her of a starry sky. The river under the bridge was clear and sparkling as the sunlight reflected on its waters.
The weather was nice today.
Half of Nina’s face was touched by the sunlight. With one hand on the wheel, she placed an earphone on her ear and made a call.
“Aunt Nina, you lied to me last night! I won’t be telling you anything about Uncle John today.” James’s loud voice roared through the phone.
Nina couldn’t help but chuckle.
James guessed it correctly. She actually called him to learn how to make John happy.
She shouldn’t have hidden her identity from John.
Because of this, she had to find a way to please him.
“Aunt Nina, if you want to know something this time, transfer the money to me first.” James made sure that he wouldn’t be fooled twice.
He didn’t want to make the same mistake as before. Last time, John took back all of his living expenses. Right now, he didn’t even get to own at least three dollars a month.
The tone that prompted a successful money transfer could be heard by James from the other side of the line. Nina had transferred the money to his WeChat account, but he didn’t know how much it was.
A smirk formed on his lips. “You can ask questions now, Aunt Nina.”
Nina didn’t waste any time. “What can I do to please your uncle John?”
John raised an eyebrow. “Well, isn’t that supposed to be easy for you? Just do whatever you think he likes you to do.” ‘He wants me to call him honey.
He also wants me to have a baby with him.’
She shook her head. None of those would work. She couldn’t address John as honey, and she couldn’t consider both of them as a real couple at the moment.
Nina also didn’t want to have a child so casually. It would definitely affect the child’s life if she wouldn’t be able to properly raise them.
“Is there anything else?” Nina asked desperately.
James started scratching his chin while he was deep in thought. “Why don’t you cook a delicious meal for him? They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach after all.”
“That saying is absurd. Besides, a lot of women have already suffered from believing that.” Nina now had a frown on her face. “It’s basically telling women that they need to be able to cook well or else they won’t be able to keep their men. That won’t work at all. Think of something else.”
“Oh, don’t worry. That will definitely work on Uncle John. It’s exactly what he wants. Even if you end up buying food at a restaurant and tell him it is cooked by you, he won’t expose you.”

Nina bit her lips. It somehow made sense. “I see.”
“Okay, then. Let me see how much money you have wired over.” A few seconds later, James was furious. “Hey! Aunt Nina!” He roared through the phone once he saw the amount that was transferred to him.
Unfortunately, Nina had already hung up and James couldn’t seem to reach her when he tried calling again.
James had a deep scowl on his face as he stared at the numbers that showed “10 cents” on his phone. Nina was more evil compared to his uncle.
John made him feel hopeless.
On the other hand, Nina gave him hope and then took it all away at once.
If the two of them weren’t together, they would be definitely alone.
Nina hummed and drove to a Sichuan restaurant. After she had arrived at Lexingport City, she learned that spicy food was very delicious.
Thinking that it would be the perfect kind of food to serve him, she ordered some for John.
She made her way to John’s office with the packed food in her hand when the assistant noticed her. “Mrs. Shi?”
Nina smiled politely. “Is he inside?” Nina tilted her head to get a glimpse on the inside of John’s office yet she didn’t see anyone.
The assistant shook her head. “Mr. Shi has been very busy recently. He is currently in a meeting at the moment. Please wait for him in his office. He will be done in half an hour.”
The assistant smiled and opened the door for Nina.
Half an hour had already passed but John hadn’t returned yet. Nina waited for him patiently, but the dishes she had placed on the table had already gone cold.
She knew that it wasn’t healthy to eat too much cold and oily food, so she made her way downstairs to buy something new.
However, John and Henry had returned the moment Nina left.
His assistant immediately stood up. “Mr. Shi, your wife came to bring you lunch half an hour ago. She just left, but she told me to inform you that she would be back after buying something. She asked you to not eat the food on the table for the time being.”
John raised his brows.
The aroma of something spicy had enveloped the room as soon as he opened the door. He couldn’t help but frown a little bit.
John didn’t like spicy food.
“Mr. Shi, do you want me to order something else?” Henry asked upon noticing his boss’s reaction.
John stared at the food on the table. “No.”
He thought that maybe Nina had personally cooked the food.
“Okay.” Henry was already accustomed to this. John had changed ever since he met Nina.
When Henry left the office, he was surprised to see Jessica and Vivian outside.
Vivian held Jessica’s arm in one hand and a lunch box in the other.
Both of them seemed to be in a good mood. They looked intimate and had bright smiles on their faces.
The two women ignored Henry and went inside John’s office.
Actually, Henry wasn’t really that surprised. Jessica was John’s sister and it was not the first time for her to enter his office without informing John.
Everyone in Lexingport City was aware that Jessica would only consider Vivian as her sister-in-law.
Henry was confused, though. Why was Vivian with her?
“Henry, what’s going on?” the assistant whispered.
Henry stared at the closed door and could only shrug. “I don’t have any idea either. When will Mrs. Shi return?” It was obvious that he was worried.
“She did not give any specific time.
What’s wrong?” Curiosity was now evident on the assistant’s face.
“I just hope that Mrs. Shi won’t be returning so soon.” Henry was worried that the situation would cause a scene if Nina had returned with the two ladies inside John’s office.
It was too late, however. The assistant glanced over to the direction of the elevator and announced that Nina had returned.
Henry was rendered speechless.
He found himself staring at the beautiful figure that appeared.
