- Season 2 Episode 66 - (Don't play with a girl on her period)
At half past seven in the evening, they sat down to dinner.
It was a lot more relaxed here than in Sam’s house. Laughter was often heard above the din of the six talking to each other. They were still well-behaved, but happy.
Angela was more than 40, but her skin was still silky and lovely. Her every move and smile exuded a mature charm. Not only that, she was easygoing.
“Nina, don’t be so polite. Dig in.” Angela smiled generously and gently at Nina. Angela was very grateful to Nina because she helped her block the wine. “James told me you enjoy seafood, right?” she asked Nina warmly.
“Yes.” Nina nodded.
Angela smiled, “Next time you come here, I’ll ask the chef to whip up some fish for you. I’m sorry. There’s no seafood in the fridge now.”
“Thank you, Angela.” If anyone was very polite, Nina would be polite in return. Daniel praised him. “You have an awesome wife, John.”
“Thanks, Daniel.” John raised his glass and smiled. “I have good taste.”
Daniel laughed. “You always have.”
The two brothers had been chatting with each other this whole time. Daniel praised his wife a lot. It made Angela so happy her eyes almost narrowed into a seam.
John was usually a man of few words. But now he felt so at ease that he practically became a chatterbox. He couldn’t say enough good things about Nina.
“I didn’t know she’d be my wife when I met her, but pretty soon I could imagine spending my life with her.
My wife’s a good girl. She doesn’t hit people when she’s drunk.
My wife is pretty agreeable. She does what I want.
She’s also really smart. She solved a serial murder case.”
With a complicated expression on her face, Nina sat in silence. She was leery about everything he said. Especially the part about not hitting others when she was drunk.
She glanced at James in silence and he shook his head. She felt depressed.
Last time she drank heavily, she’d pummeled him good. He sported bruises and bandages for several days afterward.
“Did you take those pills which make you shake your head? Why are you shaking your head like that?” Dora’s innocent voice attracted the attention of the two men.
“Got a problem with what I said?” John asked indifferently.
“No, of course not. Why would I?” James hated his sister so much as she often plotted against him behind his back. She took any chance she had to frame him. After a moment’s silence, John asked, “So, do all the students in the L University claim that my wife is your girlfriend?”
James was stunned.
Knowing he was going to take the blame again, James tried his best to explain, “Uncle John, those are just rumors. Fake news. How can a smart person like you believe that? If you blame me for that, Uncle John, you will lose your cool.”
He looked around for help and Nina explained in the end, “Just rumors.”
“I know,” John replied to Nina in a gentle voice.
James looked at Nina gratefully.
Then John looked him in the eye and said, “I don’t care if I lose my cool.”
James was speechless. His chest felt tight, and he was short of breath.
In the end, he had no choice but to accept his bad luck. He lowered his face like a stray dog. He felt like crying, but had no tears in his eyes.
The others snickered. At last, Angela gave him a bowl of warm soup to make him feel better.
During the meal, Nina drank half her glass of juice. Going down, it was cool and delicious.
But after returning to the North Yard, it felt like someone stabbed her in the gut. She thought the juice might be the culprit.
“John, I have a stomachache.” Nina bent down and sat on the sofa, her face wrinkled in pain. “Can you get me a hot-water bag? And a cup of brown sugar water.”
John didn’t know she was in pain because it was that time of the month. He ignored her and called the doctor.
Nina reached out and grabbed him. “You don’t need to call the doctor. Just do what I tell you. Ask Helen to make a cup of brown sugar water. You can find something to warm my stomach.”

After hesitating for a moment, John got Nina off the couch, supporting her in his arms. His broad hand touched her lower abdomen, and his palm was like a small furnace, constantly sending warmth to her.
Even through her clothes, Nina could feel the heat. She needed that. She looked up at John, as if she had seen a treasure.
“Your hand’s just right. Can I borrow it?” When Nina put John’s big hand on her belly, she found his hand was much better than a hot-water bag. Not only could it keep her warm, but also massage her belly.
When his palm touched her skin, John withdrew his hand. But Nina held his hand tightly. “Thank you.”
After saying that, she kissed the corner of John’s lips and fell into his arms, eyes closed.
John’s body was like a big furnace. It should be very comfortable to sleep with him during the winter.
The sleepy Nina nestled into his arms again.
“Sweet little girl,” John whispered and smiled.
By the time Helen came out with a cup of brown sugar water, Nina had fallen asleep.
“Don’t disturb her,” John said. “Wait until she wakes up.”
Helen lowered her voice and said, “But the brown sugar water must be drunk before it cools down, or she’ll be in pain again once she wakes up.”
Heeding Helen’s words, John woke her up and pinched her face. “Get up and drink the brown sugar water.”
John took his hand away to grab the drink. Nina frown and quickly pulled his hand back.
Then she opened her eyes in a daze and took the cup from him.
After drinking it, she threw herself into his arms again.
John carried her upstairs. As soon as he let go of her, Nina was angry again. She pulled John down and climbed into his arms.
John chuckled. He had no choice but to lie down and sleep next to her.
The man remembered last month, when she was experiencing her monthly visitor, she seemed practically invincible and energetic.
This wasn’t normal. So he figured she hadn’t paid attention to her health this time.
He took out his phone and called up a ton of websites, all of which detailed what girls should pay attention to during their menstrual period. He kept it in mind so he could remind her when he felt she needed to hear it.
After browsing for a while, John found a special message. This wasn’t meant for girls, but guys instead.
He clicked it curiously. It said that guys were supposed to obey women during that time of the month.
Why? Because women were very touchy at that time. Anything could set them off.
But John didn’t take it seriously. He turned off his phone and lay down, holding his woman in his arms and closing his eyes.
The dim orange lamp at the head of the bed was still on, casting its pale yellow glow over the couple. Nina spooned with him, and the two slept soundly.
Two hours later
Nina was sound asleep. But the more John slept, the hotter he got.
He listened to her deep, even breathing as she slumbered. That let him know she was getting a good night’s sleep. John wanted to take a shower, so he removed his hand from underneath her.
As soon as he pulled out his hand, Nina turned over and faced him.
The woman held his hand too tightly.
His upper body was suddenly covered by an arm, and her elbow came smashing down into him, hard. His chest was on fire. He almost suffered internal injuries!
John’s face darkened as he took a deep breath.
She was so strong and weird. When she was drunk, she liked to lie on him, making his legs and feet numb.
During her period, she liked to hold his hand to sleep. If he pulled his hand away, she would attack him with her elbow.
Nina asked as she put two spoons of sugar in her coffee. No
