MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 64
The atmosphere in the dining room became more hostile, as if they were suddenly put into a battlefield.
Jessica began confronting Angela. “What do you mean? Are you saying that I’m brainless? I’ve investigated. All the students in L University said that Nina was James’ girlfriend.”
“No, it’s not like that.” While James was explaining, he peeked over at out of the corner of his eye. John sat dead silent. His eyelashes hid the emotion filling his eyes.
James knew John very well. The more silent John was, the more ruthless he would become. The whole family would be about to suffer.
On the other hand, Nina was still sitting calmly.
James swallowed and cowered in fear.
“Jessica, you are simple-minded. I know that you always believe whatever anyone tells you. You aren’t a little girl anymore.
You should know how to think for yourself. It’s fine to believe a rumor once or twice, but any more than that is foolish.” Angela was not a woman to be trifled with.
Nina opened her eyes and looked at Angela with admiration.
Nina really took a liking to Angela. However, Nina thought she spoke a bit too much.
Nina wanted nothing more than to slap Jessica. Knowing that she was John’s sister though, she had to suppress her anger and do her best not to interfere. “Angela, how dare you shout at me?”
Jessica looked a little ferocious.
She had never been reprimanded by anyone before.
Jessica was so angry that she picked up the wine glass and was about to splash it on Angela’s face.
“Honey, what are you doing?” Jason reached out and grabbed his wife. He didn’t mean to just sit idly by, but he wasn’t about to target his wife like everyone else.
If he also criticized Jessica, she would have nobody to rely on.
However, he didn’t expect his wife to be so hot-headed.
She could get away with picking on others, but she couldn’t bully Angela. Angela was the daughter of a high-ranking official in the capital city. Her family was nobler than the Shi family and even Sam had to respect her.
Nina stood up and approached the edge of the table. She raised her hands to flip the food on the table, pulled out the tablecloth, and took a step forward to block the red wine that was about to spill out in front of Angela.
The red wine splashed on the white tablecloth, staining it a scarlet red.
Everyone was stunned.
When the tablecloth fell away, Daniel was still protecting his wife. When he came to his senses, he took his wife’s hand and walked out. “Let’s go home, James, Dora.”
It was not until they left that Jessica realized what had happened. “Honey, I… I didn’t mean to do that.”
“It’s okay.” Jason stood up and comforted Jessica. “Try not to be so impulsive next time. I’ll apologize to Daniel and Angela personally later.”
“Honey…” With her eyes slightly red, Jessica leaned against his chest and sobbed. “I didn’t mean to do that. I wanted to splash Nina with the wine.”
Jason froze. He knew that John would get annoyed if he heard what Jessica was saying.
Predictably, John became enraged.
The tension was palpable. Daniel felt shivers down his spine as he felt the fear seep into his body.
“Nina, John, I’m sorry. She might…”
“How dare you!” Sam trembled with fear. Sam saw John’s murderous look. He also noted Jessica’s domineering posture. He had to do something to prevent the family from being torn apart.
Sam hadn’t lost his temper like this for a long time. Everyone could feel Sam’s dignified presence.
Jessica lay in her husband’s arms in a cold sweat.

“Jessica, if you continue to talk nonsense, you can get out and don’t ever talk to me again.” Sam wasn’t taking Nina’s side, but was heartbroken that he had such a brainless daughter.
“Dad, I’m not talking nonsense.” With red eyes, Jessica ignored Daniel’s dissuasion. “Dad, you’ve never scolded me before and now you’re shouting at me because of some outsider! Even if I have been gullible, it is a fact that Nina has a low status and doesn’t fit our family.”
Sam said in disbelief, “I’ve spoiled you. You think you’re some kind of princess. Every child is the apple of their parents’ eye and so is Nina.”
“What is she? She is nothing.” Jessica was so angry that the rage took over her and she fainted.
Nina was speechless. ‘How could you faint when I haven’t even hit you yet?’
With an anxious look on his face, Jason picked Jessica up and apologized, “I’m sorry. I apologize for her.”
“No, you needn’t. Take care of her. I don’t want to hurt my sister,” John said coldly. His tone of warning was unmistakable Nina stared at John with her sparkling eyes.
‘He’s taking my side over his sister’s?’ Outside the window, the night wind gently blew over the plants and wafted into the room. Her heart pounded faster.
“I’ll take you out to have seafood tonight.” John turned his head to look at Nina’s stupefied and affectionate eyes. Her amber eyes were so gorgeous.
They were captivating and commanded all of John’s attention.
John smiled and held Nina’s hand, giving her a sense of security. Before he left, he said to Sam, “We won’t be coming back again.”
He didn’t want Nina to be targeted again.
He couldn’t hurt Jessica though. After all, she was his sister and she had been so kind to him since childhood.
The only way to save their relationship was to avoid her.
This sentence was like a knife in Sam’s heart. His body staggered slightly and his eyes misted up.
Sam just wanted a harmonious family with filial children and many grandchildren, but he didn’t expect things to turn out like this.
He lowered his eyes and said, “Okay.”
Sam’s voice sounded a little colder. Sadness was hidden in his simple words.
Nina clearly felt his sadness. She stopped, turned around and said with a smile, “Dad, he is joking. We will visit you often in the future.”
“Really?” Sam’s gloomy eyes lit up in an instant and tears filled them in hopefulness.
Nina promised with a smile, “Yes.”
“That’s good.” ‘She is so considerate! She’s much more sensible than that little bastard.’
Sam looked at John and hoped that he would affirm what Nina said. Nina held John’s hand, indicating that he should say something.
“Do you have the final say?” John asked calmly.
“Of course.” Nina raised her eyebrows.
John didn’t refute, which could only mean he was giving in.
It was settled then. He would come back to visit.
Sam quickly gave up his gloomy exterior and the glee beamed from his face. This family dinner ended in discord.
As soon as John and Nina walked out, they met Dora, who was waiting for them outside and greeted them excitedly.
“Uncle John, Aunt Nina, my parents asked me to invite you to dinner.”
