MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 63
Obviously, Jessica didn’t treat Nina as family though she was John’s wife. Since she didn’t show Nina any respect, Nina wouldn’t treat her respectfully, either.
“Ms. Shi.” Nina was the perfect picture of calm, and her gentle smile held neither discontent nor provocation.
All of the people present were stunned when Nina called Jessica Ms. Shi.
It was not a good omen.
Expectant eyes were focused on Sam and John, who were both key players in this scenario.
One woman was Sam’s daughter-in-law, while the other was his favorite daughter.
One was John’s wife, and the other was his sister.
“Nina, your sister-in-law is spoiled, and it’s all my fault for spoiling her. Forget about it. Just call her Jessica.” Sam smiled and tried to mediate the dispute. Jessica opened her mouth to speak, but he quelled her with a stern glare.
Sam knew that Nina was wronged, but he had only one daughter. He could only put the blame on himself. He hoped that, for his sake, the two of them would not be too stiff with each other.
Nina didn’t say anything. It was human nature for a father to love his daughter. She envied Jessica.
Nina was about to dismiss the matter when the man next to her moved, instantly attracting everyone’s attention.
He pulled out his chair, leaving an empty space in front of him.
There was no emotion on his handsome face. “The North Yard is our home. It’s okay for you to call her Ms. Shi here.”
Afterwards, he walked over to Nina’s side, bent down and held the top of the chair with one hand, while the other hand slid under her legs. In the next moment, he lifted the entire chair with Nina still seated on it.
Shocked and a little afraid, Nina trembled uncontrollably. She scrabbled to hold John’s arm, her mind registering the hard muscles through his shirt.
What was he planning to do?
Nina looked searchingly at John’s eyes, confused but also a little happy. Subconsciously, her little finger gently caressed his arm.
She used to think only his abdominal muscles were seductive, but now she couldn’t resist his arms.
Her breath got caught in her throat at the proximity of his face to her own.
She was fascinated by John!
A thud resounded in the room.
In a decisive motion, John lowered Nina and her chair on the space that had just been vacated.
“Little girl, sit here from now on.” John reached out his hand and caressed her head. Then, he pulled back his chair and sat in Nina’s original position, separating Nina and Jessica.
In the Shi family, every position was personally appointed by Sam. Each post indicated in how much regard Sam held the particular family member and that member’s position in the whole family. John’s seat was on the left side of Sam and was exclusive to him. Even if he rarely visited, no one dared to sit in that seat.
Now, in front of everyone, he gave up his seat to Nina, which told everyone that he considered her to be more important than him.
His family felt shocked by this development, but they strove not to let their reactions show on their faces. Dora’s mouth was open in a dumbstruck expression.
James smiled. He had already known that the Nina held an important place in John’s heart.
He didn’t know what was wrong with his aunt and why she insisted on going against Nina. It seemed like she wasn’t afraid to ruin her relationship with her brother.
His mother had told him that after he got married, he had to break away from the shackles of his original family. His real family would include his wife and children, and then his original family would become his relatives.
However, it seemed like his aunt did not understand this concept. She often disciplined John as an elder.

“John, what do you mean?” Jessica was irritated by his brother’s action.
Regardless of Sam’s warning, she still wanted to criticize him. “Why should you let her take that seat? She was lucky enough to have married you. Why would you let her sit there?”
Nina knew that the seating arrangement was not a simple matter.
She wondered what John would say. She had heard that the man had the best relationship with his sister.
She didn’t want John to favor her—she only hoped that he could be a little fair and stand in the middle.
“That position is mine, so I have the final say.” What John said sounded fair, but he was being biased toward Nina.
It wouldn’t even matter if Nina stepped on his head.
At that instant, Sam said in a domineering voice, “That’s his position, and the decision lies in his hands alone. Just mind your own business.”
“Dad, are you blaming me?” Jessica stared incredulously at her father and her most obedient brother. These two people were blaming her on the account of an outsider.
She couldn’t believe her eyes.
She was so angry that she glared at Nina, but her brother’s body shielded the other woman from her wrathful glare. She could only see half of Nina’s body. ‘The woman must be feeling so smug right now!’
Jessica thought to herself.
She needed to vent the unpleasantness in her heart. “Dad, John, do you know what kind of person Nina is? Do you know her?”
Nina frowned. Did Jessica try to have her investigated again? However, there was only limited information that they could gather about her. Hadn’t Jessica investigated it all?
While she wondered, Jessica gave her the answer.
Jessica stood up and pointed at Nina. “She is a wanton woman. She had an affair with Albert. Not only that, she also…”
Jessica glanced at James and hesitated for a moment, but she had to let everyone know what kind of person Nina was. She continued, “Everyone in L University knows that she is James’ woman.”
The faces of the people in the room underwent a change. Before anyone could say anything in response, Jessica lashed out at Nina. “Nina, you’ve fooled around with two men in our family. You first played around with James and then married James’ uncle. I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you.”
Nina was stunned speechless. ‘Have I ever been with James?
Why didn’t I know that?’
“Aunt, don’t talk nonsense. I don’t have that kind of relationship with Aunt Nina!” James was not a man to be trifled with. He had always been arrogant and domineering. However, he was afraid of one person within the family—John.
Now, another person had been added to that short list—Nina.
But no, he was absolutely not afraid of Jessica. He slammed his hand on the table and tried to clarify the matter. “I’m not in a relationship with Aunt Nina. That gossip is nonsense. Aunt Jessica, how could you believe such rumors?”
His aunt was making trouble for him! How could she be so thoughtless? Did she automatically take other people’s words as the truth?
John’s face gradually darkened. When James saw his uncle’s expression, a shiver crept down his spine, and his knees started to tremble.
Angela’s face turned cold. She reached out to grab her son’s hand and said in a sarcastic tone, “James, how could you talk to your aunt like that? She is your elder, so don’t offend her. Although your aunt is quite unreasonable, you can’t argue with her.”
It sounded like she was blaming her son, but she was in fact criticizing Jessica. She knew what kind of person her son was. Although he liked playing, he would never mess around with women. If anyone could confirm whether James had a girlfriend, she would be that person.
Anybody who dared slander her son did not deserve her respect.
