MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 61
The car had been consistently moving on a slow pace.
Kristina tilted her head to the side. “Aren’t we going to have dinner? There is no restaurant in this street.” She looked at her surroundings outside the vehicle’s window.
“I’ll cook some lunch for you at home. What do you want to eat today? Sweet and sour fish or braised pork ribs?”
Albert reached out to Kristina and pulled her close. Once she rested her head on his shoulder, he gently pinched her cheek with his large hand.
The affection on his gaze was quite evident. Albert couldn’t help but smile as he looked at Kristina. It was already a habit of his to let her lean on his shoulder. It gave him a sense of assurance that she could rely on him.
Kristina, who was already used to him being like this, turned around and leaned on him. She lifted her feet and rested them by the car window while she closed her eyes casually.
“I think I’d like to have braised pork ribs today,” she answered.
“Okay, I’ll cook it for you then,” Albert said. He sat as still as he could so that Kristina could lean comfortably against him. He then ordered the driver, “Go to Lanting Road.”
“Lanting Road? Isn’t that a little far? We won’t be able to return to work this afternoon if we go there. That’s fine with me, but your busy schedule can’t afford it. Are you not going to renovate the abandoned factory in the northern suburbs for your new project? Won’t you be busy with that?” Kristina asked.
“No, I’m not busy. Don’t worry yourself too much about those things.” Albert’s eyes darkened at the thought of the abandoned factory. His thoughts quickly transferred afterwards to the woman beside him which made his expression recover to normal.
“Kristina, don’t let anyone else know about the factory in the Northern Suburbs. That includes Noah. Do you understand?” he said with a smile on his face.
Only Kristina and his confidant knew about this.
Kristina smiled back. She was aware that the project was confidential. It might also be the key to whether he would make the Song family as powerful as the Shi and Ye families.
Despite this being a crucial subject, Albert had still chosen to tell Kristina everything and not hide it from her. This made her appreciate the trust given to her.
After all, when two people loved each other, trust must also be present.
“Your secret’s safe with me. This project is very important for you. You must focus on your career. Let’s go to West Forest Street instead. It’s not that far from here.” Although she appreciated Albert’s gesture, she was still more concerned for his wellbeing.
They had a villa located on No. 2 Lanting Road. Only a few villas were around the vicinity and not many people resided there.
On the other hand, Kristina had another residence located at West Forest Street. She might not have been staying there that often, but people around the area knew that it was her property.
“Okay, let’s go to the West Forest Street then,” Albert said. He knew that she was doing this for him, so he obediently agreed and flashed her a gentle smile.
After being given the order, the driver turned the wheel around and the car made its way to West Forest Street. While on the road, Albert spotted Jessica and Vivian making their way to their cars. They seemed to be happily engaged in a conversation as the both of them giggled at each other while they talked.
Albert pointed out the window. “Kristina, isn’t that your friend and your niece?”
“Jessica and Vivian?” Kristina sat up and glanced at the direction. “Oh, it is them. They seem to have been frequently meeting up for the past two days.”
Albert stopped looking at the two ladies outside and faced forward. “Did you know that Jessica wanted Vivian to marry Mr. Shi?”
Kristina nodded. “Yeah, I know.” Although she had always known about this, she did not think that Vivian was sincere enough to deserve being John’s wife.
“Kristina, you’re a clever woman. Don’t you get it?” Albert might have not pointed it out directly, but he guided Kristina to the right direction.
“Well, not only does Jessica have bad taste, but she also seems to have a problem with her sight. I told her Vivian is not as innocent as she looks.
She has been deliberately avoiding me ever since.”
“It’s okay, you have me.” Albert wrapped an arm around her while the car continued to move slowly as soon as the traffic light turned green. “This is different.
Jessica is actually someone who is very kind. She isn’t that smart, though. Maybe Vivian tricked her. Vivian is a scheming woman. It was actually due to one of her tricks that Noah left home.”
It was currently noon and the sun was shining brightly. Vivian frowned at the rays that were blinding her and she lifted her bag over her head to form some shade on herself.

“I’m sorry, Jessica. I have to take care of my mother at the hospital later. I’m afraid I won’t be able to go to Stone Road tonight.” Vivian had a disappointed expression on her face and smiled sadly at Jessica.
It felt strange for her to be attending the Shi family’s dinner. Jessica had a frank personality, so she would probably end up comparing her to Nina. Vivian thought that it wouldn’t end up good for her image.
John would not blame his sister. In fact, he might end up blaming her instead. Vivian didn’t want him to end up despising her even more.
She didn’t want to go for this reason.
Jessica only smiled and gave her a sympathetic look. “You’re very considerate, Vivi. Go ahead and take care of your mother, she’s pregnant and she needs someone to stay with her.”
Vivian nodded. “The doctor said that being pregnant at her age is critical. My father and I take turns on watching over her.”
“Go ahead and say hello to your parents for me,” Jessica said.
“Thank you, Jessica.” The corner of Vivian’s lips lifted into a small smile. She then opened her bag and took out a rectangular box that looked like a gift. On the packaging was a logo of an international brand. She handed it over to Jessica. “Jessica, I had this specially made for you. It arrived just last night, so I was only able to give it to you today.”
Actually, the brand on the box was exactly what Jessica liked. Majority of her possessions had the same brand.
Upon recognizing it, Jessica’s smile had grown wider as she opened the packaging. Inside the box revealed an extremely expensive looking necklace. “Thank you, Vivi! I’ve always wanted this, but it had been sold out.”
Vivian giggled in response. “I know you’ll like it. To be honest, I’d been keeping an eye on when it would be arriving.”
Jessica didn’t notice the cunningness in Vivian’s eyes.
There was actually a micro bug implanted on the said necklace. “Jessica, let me put it on for you. I’m sure it will look perfect on you.” She beamed at Jessica and eagerly attached the necklace around her neck.
The diamond pendant that had been gleaming at the touch of the sun’s rays, and its stone was cold as the treacherous look in Vivian’s eyes.
As long as Jessica was wearing the necklace, she would be able to eavesdrop on the many secrets of the Shi family during the dinner that night.
After a few minutes of gushing over her new present, Jessica finally bid goodbye to Vivian and waved happily at her before she drove back to Stone Road.
Sam’s energetic voice could be heard around the villa as soon as Jessica arrived. Everyone was busy going back and forth making preparations while he made sure to repeatedly stress about how the decorations in the house should give off a happy vibe.
“Be careful when you move those flowers. And you, once they arrive, you should greet Nina in unison, okay?” The sight made it look like he was a teacher standing in front of his students. The two rows of servants in front of him listened attentively to his orders.
Jake asked, “Sir, will we be only greeting Mrs. Shi? What about Mr. Shi?” His brows furrowed in confusion.
Sam frowned at the question. “Why should we welcome him?” He had a disgusted look on his face once John was mentioned, but then it transformed to a gentle smile as soon as he thought of Nina. “You just need to welcome Nina. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sir!” Everyone chorused and bowed down in unison.
It was half past six in the evening when the two finally arrived.
Nina appeared by the gate of the villa holding John’s arm. The moment they stepped inside, they were greeted by a deafening welcome.
“Welcome, Mrs. Shi.”
Nina was somewhat taken aback from the scene. Her eyes grew wide for a split second before calming down. She titled her head to the side and whispered in John’s ear, “Do you ever lose your hearing whenever you hear this deafening sound every time you come back?”
“No, I haven’t.” John had a blank expression on his face.
In fact, he had never received this kind of treatment.
The sudden display of enthusiasm by the servants towards Nina made him uncomfortable.
