John heaved a sigh of relief and said, “As long as you’re fine, then everything is alright. I’ll let Lisa come in.”

He picked up a coat and put it on Nina. Then he went out to ask Lisa to help Nina.

John left the store and went to a jewelry store to fetch the diamond necklace which was custom made for Nina.

In the store, a bracelet on the counter caught his eye. It was decorated with white pearls. It was simple but so incredibly elegant.

The bracelet reminded John of Nina and he couldn’t help but buy it.

The saleslady asked, “Sir, are you buying it for a loved one?”

“Yes.”

“We provide an engraving service. Would you like to engrave something? We can engrave your name and your loved one’s name on it if you want.”

‘Engraving?

That’s a good idea.’

John took out a business card and quickly wrote down the words that he wanted engraved. “Engrave the words written on the card and send the gift to the address printed on the card.”

“Okay, take care, sir.”

The saleslady took the business card and saw John’s name. She watched him leave in respectful awe.

After John left, two people entered.

“Albert, I should thank you for bringing me here.” Kristina didn’t look like the tough business woman she usually was. She wore some delicate make-up accentuating her gentle exterior.

Today especially, her smile looked as kind as ever.

“No need to thank me. I’ll bring you here and take you home later,” Albert smiled and said lovingly.

They kept a distance from each other because no one knew that they were actually lovers. Considering various reasons, they did not intend to make their relationship known to the public.

In people’s eyes, they were seen as just good partners or like siblings.

“Don’t worry. I won’t take up too much of your time,” Kristina smiled.

“It doesn’t matter. I’ve got a lot of it.” Although he couldn’t outwardly show any affection in public, Albert just tried his best to accompany her everywhere.

He loved Kristina deeply.

“Last time I came here I saw a lovely pair of earrings, but I didn’t have time to buy them. I’ll just pop in to buy them today and then we can leave.” Kristina knew that he was a little busy recently. She was thankful that he could spare some time to come with her.

Kristina turned to the saleslady and said, “Excuse me, I want to buy the pink diamond earrings.”

“Okay, please wait a moment, Miss Ye.” The saleslady took out a box and opened it. “Miss Ye, are these the pink diamond earrings you want?”

“Yes, they are. It’s like love at first sight. I definitely want them.” Kristina looked at the pink diamond earrings in the box.

They were delicate and sophisticated. The more she looked at them, the more she liked them.

She took out a bank card from her bag and handed it to the saleslady. The saleslady said, “Mr. Song already paid for them the day after you reserved them.” “How did you know I wanted them?”

Kristina turned her head to look at Albert, who was gently smiling.

Albert didn’t answer. He took the box and said gleefully, “I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch with me today. Let’s have a talk.”

He didn’t want to talk about work though.

Kristina was so moved, but she pretended like nothing had happened.

“To thank you for your gift, I’ll treat you.” “It’s my pleasure.” Kristina loved Albert’s warm smile and how much of a gentleman he was.

When they were about to leave, Kristina saw the saleslady taking out the pearl bracelet. Her eyes lit up and she froze.

“This bracelet is gorgeous. I want it. Please wrap it for me.” Kristina took out her card again.

“I’m sorry, Miss Ye. Someone has already bought this bracelet.”

“Someone has already bought it?” Kristina wanted nothing more than this bracelet. It was exquisite, low-key and elegant. She adored it. “Is there another one?”

The saleslady shook her head. “I’m sorry, Miss Ye. Every product in our store is one of a kind.”

“What a pity!” Kristina was so disappointed that she saw it too late to buy it.

Seeing that she really liked it, Albert asked, “Who did you sell it to? I’m sure that I can buy it from that person.”

“Mr. Shi. He bought it as a gift for his loved one.”

“Mr. Shi?” Albert was stunned. If it was for John, things would be a lot more difficult.

When Kristina heard that it was for John, she had lost all hope. There was no way that she could compete with the likes of John.

“In that case, forget it.” Kristina decided to just leave with Albert.

In the car, Kristina couldn’t stop thinking about the bracelet but for different reasons.

She asked, “Albert, do you think Mr. Shi bought it for Nina?”

“I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not.” Albert was thinking about what the saleslady said just now and he continued plotting his scheme. He wanted to use Nina to cause conflicts between John and Noah, so he remained neutral for now.

“Why?”

“The saleslady said that Mr. Shi bought it for his loved one, not his wife. We know that Nina is his wife but we don’t know if she is his loved one for sure. As far as I know, it was Sam who handled their marriage for them. They had no idea that they were even married. Who knows if they have true love for each other?”

“I like Nina quite a lot. I think Noah likes her as well. Unfortunately, Sam has seized the opportunity quicker than anyone else.

Nina is not a simple person. Otherwise, Sam wouldn’t have handled the marriage so secretively. Jessica cares about people’s family background just like her father, but she doesn’t have her father’s insight.”

Somehow, Kristina liked Nina very much. Perhaps it was because they looked a little like each other, or perhaps it was because of her impeccable personality. “I don’t mind if you treat Noah well or like Nina. Kristina, do you still like Mr. Shi?” Albert asked in a tone of jealousy.

“I don’t like him. I did admire him very much in the past. He took over the Time Group just over the age of ten and managed it incredibly well. That was why I admired him.” Knowing that Albert was jealous, Kristina held his face with both hands and kissed him with a bright smile.

Albert held her in his arms and kissed her hair gently. He cared about her and wanted to protect her no matter what.

He never thought of himself as a very good person but he thanked his lucky stars that he fell in love with such a kind woman.

“Kristina, give me some more time.

I will be the most powerful person of Lexingport City and I will become the one you adore and love.”

In Albert’s arms, Kristina felt safe. She didn’t have a care in the world.

She remembered how Albert expressed her love for her. “Kristina, you may be six years older than me, but you also need someone to protect you. Let me be that person. You protected me once before and now I will protect you for the rest of your life.”

She was older, but that didn’t matter to him at all.

Since he made this promise, her life was infinitely easier. He was by her side and helped her achieve the position of Ye Group’s CEO.

With his careful protection, she now had her own home.
