MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 51
Jessica’s appearance made her look younger. She wore a light yellow shirt that was loose and her skirt had floral patterns for its design. Her skin was fair and smooth. It was obvious that she had it well maintained. If one would take a look at her, they would think that she was around twenty years of age.
It was only the gloomy look on her face that made her scary.
Jessica glanced around her surroundings. She acted like she was looking for someone before settling into a frown. “Helen, where are they?”
“Mr. Shi is at work and Mrs. Shi is upstairs,” Helen politely replied.
“Upstairs? What is she doing upstairs?” Jessica had her eyes fixed up on the stairway leading to the second floor.
“Mrs. Shi is currently resting. She is not feeling well,” Helen said.
Jessica snorted and rolled her eyes. “She’s still young. She should be in good health. Maybe she’s just pretending to be sick. John is busy at work every day while she’s free to stay at home and do nothing but spend his money.”
She had never forgotten what Nina had said at the beginning. Nina wanted all of John’s assets.
In Jessica’s eyes, Nina was a gold digger and seduced John which explained why her brother was so infatuated with the woman. The news of their marriage had also been recently spreading throughout the whole city.
It took three days before Jessica could calm down. She wanted to ask her father and brother about it but the two only refused to see her.
She had always been the apple of the eye in the family ever since she was born and had never received a cold shoulder from them before.
It wasn’t until Nina came that she had started receiving this kind of treatment. Naturally, Jessica couldn’t accept it.
She made her way over to John and Nina to inform them about the family dinner tomorrow evening at Stone Road.
Normally, a servant would have done this but she made it a point to personally make an appearance.
Jessica wanted to discover what kind of tricks Nina had played on her brother to make him act this way. This was the reason she had a deep frown on her face when she learned that the said woman was sleeping during the day.
“Go upstairs and ask her to come down,” she ordered. She had an impatient look on her face as she glared at Helen who had been standing in front of her.
Although Helen used to be a servant at Stone Road, she was now serving at North Yard. Her loyalty now wasn’t on the entire Shi family, but only on John alone.
Helen could feel how dissatisfied Jessica was with Nina from her tone. The servant knew that she couldn’t allow something bad to happen to Nina or John would be heartbroken.
“Mrs. Shi wasn’t able to sleep well last night. You have gone through that as well. I hope you could understand, Ms. Shi,” Helen said. Her tone was gentle yet indifferent.
Jessica had clearly understood what she meant, but still she didn’t like Nina. Someone without any family background and had many rumors surrounding her wasn’t worthy of her brother.
She glanced at the time. “It’s afternoon. She should already be awake by now regardless of whether she is feeling sick or not. She is now John’s wife and he is my brother. Ask her to come down to meet me right now.” She stood her ground. She then placed her bag on the sofa and finally sat down while never taking her eyes off Helen.
Her legs were crossed and she acted like she was getting impatient with waiting. She must meet with Nina today.
Helen couldn’t help but sigh quietly. She supposed that this would eventually still happen.
The relationship between Jessica and John as brother and sister was great since both of them had similar personalities. Jessica cared for John very much that she wanted to be the one to take care of everything for him.
She interfered in his life so much that now she wanted to get in between John and Nina’s marriage.
Helen stood there for a few seconds before finally going upstairs to wake Nina up. “Mrs. Shi, please wake up. How are you feeling now?”
Nina had been deep in slumber when she felt someone gently shaking her shoulder. “What’s wrong?” She blinked a couple of times and squinted her eyes at the person who was crouching by her bed. After recognizing that it was just Helen, she closed her eyes once again.
Nina had trouble waking up and she felt like she was on the verge of falling out of consciousness once again.
She groaned as she tried to groggily recall what happened last night.
Everything was all John’s fault. He had made love with her the whole night which caused her whole body to be painful all over.
Helen’s eyes were filled with concern. She felt sorry for Nina, but she knew that she had to wake her up so she gently pulled her up. “Mrs. Shi, Mr. Shi’s sister is currently downstairs and she demands to see you.”
“Jessica?” Nina’s eyes suddenly shot open and she propped herself up.
“Jessica is here?”

Helen nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Shi. She says you have to receive her personally.”
Nina was quiet for a while. She seemed to be doing some thinking. “I see. You may go ahead downstairs. I will be there soon.”
Helen turned around and left the room. Nina got up from the bed carefully. Every night when she was asleep, John would apply medicine on her feet. Now, she was able to walk freely on a flat surface since they were almost recovered.
There were no women’s clothes at the moment. All of those that were only available were for men. When she had finally found a suitable outfit for her to wear, she fixed her appearance one last time before finally going downstairs.
Jessica sneered at the sight of Nina from the stairway. “I see that you’re up so early. The sun is already about to set.”
“Thank you for your praise, Ms. Shi.
Sleeping is one of my hobbies.” Nina did not react much and clearly looked unfazed. She took her time going downstairs and calmly strolled down the stairway step by step.
It was obvious to see the pure hate in Jessica’s eyes. She continued to glare at Nina as she watched her figure go down. As soon as she noticed what she was wearing, she raised an eyebrow at her.
“What are you wearing? You don’t even look like a woman in those clothes. People might begin to suspect that we have no money to even properly buy women’s clothes for you.”
Nina shrugged and looked down at her clothes before looking back to Jessica. She didn’t think there was anything wrong with what she was wearing. In fact, she felt comfortable.
“All of John’s clothes are specially tailored by international brands. They should be much more expensive than the clothes women usually wear, right? Are you not familiar with this brand, Ms. Shi?” Nina had formed a curious expression and blinked innocently at Jessica.
“Are you wearing John’s clothes?” Jessica hadn’t noticed at first and mentally smacked herself when she realized that what Nina was saying was true.
Jessica could feel her cheeks growing hot from embarrassment. She didn’t want to seem like she had poor eyesight in front of Nina.
Since she was starting to feel uneasy, she changed the topic. “Women shouldn’t be wearing clothes for men.”
Nina wished that she could roll her eyes. She knew that their conversation was just going around in circles. She didn’t want to keep beating around the bush. “John is my husband now. I’m free to wear his clothes anytime I please.”
Jessica’s face was turning red from anger. Everyone knew that she was trying to match John with Vivian. She had also made a promise to the Ye family that John would definitely be marrying Vivian.
What she didn’t expect was for John to fall in love with Nina and secretly get married. It felt like a slap in Jessica’s face the moment she learned about the news.
“You may be indeed the legal wife at present, but no one could be so sure that you’ll still remain as his wife later on.”
Jessica had a smirk on her face as she thought of how many people had divorced nowadays.
Once John and Nina would get a divorce, Vivian would be able to come into the picture and marry her brother. This would make both families closer.
Nina had a blank expression on her face. She looked like she wasn’t bothered at all with what Jessica had said. “What’s important is that I am his wife right now.”
Jessica couldn’t help but sneer. “You’ll soon realize that you aren’t a match for John. The only woman who would be good enough for him is Vivian.” Her eyes were glaring like daggers at the woman in front of her. No words could really describe how much she hated Nina at that moment.
Nina remembered something that John had once said. “No matter how good Vivian is, I’m still John’s first wife.”
Jessica gritted her teeth and breathed heavily. She pointed a finger at Nina.
“Why, you…” She was at a loss for words. All she knew at the moment was that she definitely hated Nina even more.
No one dared to talk to her like that. Even John showed respect for her.
Helen was watching the exchange and became worried so she contacted John in secret.
She kept glancing at the entrance every now and then. “Mr. Shi, you’re back,” she shouted the moment John appeared.
Upon hearing this, Jessica’s demeanor instantly changed. The frown on her face disappeared and was replaced by a bright smile. “John, how come you’re back so early today?”
Just like that, her earlier expression had quickly changed to the opposite.
