MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 46
Hearing this, Noah smiled and said, “No one dares to say that about Mr. Shi but you.”
Nina paused and pursed her lips. Her long eyelashes covered a trace of light in her eyes. She returned the phone to Noah and said calmly, “Do you think he’s giving in to me?”
Nina did not think so. If she and John fought with bare hands, he was no match for her.
She didn’t think John was giving in to her.
What was more, her family background was no inferior to his.
There was only one thing wherein Nina admitted that she was inferior to John—she was not as ruthless as him.
Noah took the phone and smiled without saying a word. He acquiesced in it as John had many cruel ways to torture his enemies.
But based on what he had heard thus far, Noah was convinced that Nina was really important to John.
“Are you hungry, Nini? What do you want for dinner?” Noah asked, glancing at the kitchen.
If Noah had not mentioned it, Nina would not have realized that she was hungry. Her stomach grumbled right after Noah asked her about dinner. She touched her flat stomach and said, “Yes, I am. What do you have in here to eat?”
“I think I still have some fish in the fridge. But I’m worried that they’re not that fresh anymore.” Noah was often busy investigating crime scenes.
Sometimes he worked all day and all night and had no time to buy fresh food. When he did have time to stock up, he bought a lot ingredients and stored them in the fridge.
“That’d be fine. Thank you so much. Wait. Aren’t you a Ye? Can you cook?” Nina turned her head to look at Noah as if she had just discovered a new continent.
Nina and the members of her family did not know how to cook. Each of them had their own chef who prepared their food. Her brother was a famous gourmet expert in C Island.
“Of course I can. I had to learn it since leaving the Ye family. It has done me some good actually.” Noah took out the fish from the fridge and went into the kitchen.
With injured feet, Nina could only sit on the sofa and wait. The sound and smell of what Noah was cooking wafted from the kitchen to where she was sitting. It smelled so good that her mouth started watering. Her stomach grumbled more loudly.
A few moments later, someone rang the doorbell. Noah went to answer the door and saw his private doctor, Kelly Han. She wore simple clothes but her heroic spirit emanated from her like a perceptible aura. Her slanted eyes were slightly raised, making her look charming.
“Hey, Kelly. Thanks for coming. Can you check Nini’s feet? I don’t want her wounds to scar,” Noah told Kelly Han and took her to where Nina was sitting. “Nini, this is Kelly Han, my private doctor and also my cousin. She is a good physician, and you should listen to her.”
To Nina, Noah was always like an elder brother who cared about his younger sister.
“Okay, I will.” Nina nodded and gave him a comforting smile. “Nice to meet you, Dr. Han.”
When Kelly Han saw Nina, she told Noah bluntly, “Where did you meet this young lady, Noah? She’s so beautiful. Is she a victim in an ongoing case?”
“No. Nini is my junior, Professor Gu’s last disciple. Do you remember the series of killings I told you about a few days ago? It was her who cracked the case.” Every time Noah mentioned this, he could not help feeling so proud of Nina.
Kelly Han was visibly surprised. The girl looked quiet, but it turned out that she was so bold.
After thinking for a while, Kelly Han commented with a smile, “I’m starting to think both of you are not mortals.” Then, she walked toward Nina and sat in front of her. On the other hand, Noah just shook his head and went back to the kitchen. After Noah left, Kelly Han told Nina in a gentle voice, “Let me see your feet.”
“All right. Thank you, Dr. Han.” With a grateful smile, Nina put her feet on Kelly Han’s lap.
“You’re welcome. And just call me Kelly. Dr. Han is too formal for me.” Kelly Han looked at the wounds on Nina’s feet and frowned. She turned around and took out a little jar of ointment from her bag. “It’s not serious, but it’s not light either. It would’ve left permanent scars. But don’t worry. I’ve just developed an ointment that can stop bleeding and heal wounds. There won’t be scars left. But you can’t get your wounds wet or eat spicy food as a precaution. You’ll be okay.”
Kelly Han opened the jar of ointment and gently applied some on Nina’s feet. Then, she dressed Nina’s wounds in clean gauze. “I’ll give you this bottle of ointment and this bag of gauze. Change the dressing every morning after you wake up and at night before you go to sleep. Don’t put too much weight on your feet, or the wounds will reopen.”

“Got it. Thank you, Kelly.” Nina kept the doctor’s words in mind.
“You’re welcome. Anyway, it’s not free,” Kelly Han answered and winked. Then, she turned around and shouted toward the kitchen, “Noah, don’t forget to pay me for the treatment and medical fees.”
“I can pay you,” Nina interjected. She was about to pay the bill, but when she patted her clothes and realized that her phone must have fallen when she was running away, she felt a little embarrassed. “Just tell me your card number, and I’ll pay you another day. I need some time to get a new phone.”
“No, no. I’m not here to take your money. I’ll only accept Noah’s.” Smiling, Kelly Han stood up and went to the kitchen. She leaned on the kitchen door while Noah was busy preparing dinner. “You like that girl, don’t you?” she casually asked.
As Noah whipped his head at Kelly Han, his heart skipped a beat. He went back to fixing the fish while answering nonchalantly, “Nini is Mr. John Shi’s wife.”
Kelly Han’s suddenly widened in mixed surprise and remorse. She should not have let her big mouth say anything. That was just asking for trouble. “I’m sorry.
Forget I said anything.” Hearing John’s name made her shrink and decide not to push the subject anymore. She reminded Noah to pay for her services and then went to say goodbye to Nina. After that, she left.
After a while, a delicious smell came wafting from the kitchen.
Noah came out with a small hotpot in his hand. There were different kinds of vegetables on the table as well as raw fish, beef balls, and corn.
Nina and Noah had hotpot for dinner, which satisfied them very much on a slightly cold night.
Thinking of Kelly Han’s words earlier, Nina asked Noah, “Do you often help the victims in your cases and their families?”
“Not often. I just help whenever I can.” Noah put some fish into Nina’s bowl. “You should eat more, Nini.”
After dinner, Noah helped Nina to her bedroom.
After saying good night to her, Noah stepped out of Nina’s room. Then, he received a call from the police station. He left in a hurry.
Nina carefully walked toward the table in her room and sat on the chair beside it.
She took out her watch and fired up her virtual computer. She pulled up her and John’s scanned marriage licenses and checked their authenticity.
As it turned out, the person who got the marriage licenses with her was really John. With a little bit more digging, she found some information about the residence in Stone Road. The owner’s surname was Shi.
There was no doubt that John was really her husband.
She checked today’s headlines and found a lot of news articles about her and John’s marriage. The number of hits was already more than ten thousand as well as the reposts, but the comments were turned off.
Nina typed in a few commands and was able to see the comments posted within the first three minutes of the news going live. Everyone was saying that she did not deserve John. The other comments were even worse.
John must have ordered the comments to be turned off. After all, everyone was attacking Nina because of the news.
Knowing John, Nina knew that he would not let others insult her on the Internet. She also found that all the accounts with extreme comments were blocked.
Nina felt complicated in her heart. She remembered telling Henry that she would divorce her husband once she found out who he was. She would tell him to either let her go peacefully or she would beat the hell out of him until he agreed to sign the divorce papers.
But now, she just wanted to find a place to hide.
She was a little reluctant to divorce him.
