MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 43
The birthday girl suddenly fainted, causing a panic. Someone called the ambulance in a hurry.
Completely oblivious to what just happened to Vivian, John smiled. He understood now why his father had chosen Nina to be his wife.
It turned out that he liked her paintings. He looked at the direction Nina had run to. He imagined that at this time, she was probably caught by his men.
It was time for them to leave and go back to North Yard.
At this time, Nina had reached the western gate of the Ye family estate. That part of the place was deserted. No one was there but her.
She looked back and saw that Nine had followed her after she ran out of the banquet hall. The dog was now sitting next to her and looking up at her as if waiting for her command.
“What are you doing, Nine? I thought we were best buddies. Why are you helping your father chase after me?”
Nine happily barked an answer. Nine ran after Nina because he regarded her as his master.
At the moment, Nina had to escape. She did not have the time to guess what Nine was trying to tell her. If she stayed where she was a little longer, John would eventually catch up to her.
“Go back to your father, Nine. Stop following me.” Nina’s voice had started to crack. She just realized that she was in so much pain. She just ran from the banquet hall all the way here in high heels. Sighing loudly, she took off her shoes. Only then did she start feeling better.
Barefoot, she ran all the way out of the gate and saw two cars pulling over on the roadside. One was an extended Lincoln, and she had seen it before at North Yard’s garage. It was one of John’s cars.
Three familiar people stood by the Lincoln. One was Richard and the other two were maids who worked at North Yard.
When Richard saw Nina, he asked one of the maids to open the car door.
Only then did Nina realize that John had arranged everything beforehand. He had planned to announce their relationship at Vivian’s party in front of everyone and in front of the media.
She had not figured it out until now. ‘Did John lie to me all this time?’ she wondered. In fairness to John, he was indeed a good liar. Nothing that came out of his mouth could be believed.
Thinking of this, Nina grew even angrier.
There was no way she would be going back to North Yard now. She glanced at the open car door and then turned on her heel. She started walking.
“Go get her.” With Richard’s order, the two maids started chasing after Nina.
The two maids had received training since they were young. They ran fast and got in Nina’s way. “Mrs. Shi, please get in the car.”
“No way,” Nina refused coldly and continued walking.
The two maids looked at each other but stood their ground in front of Nina. Nina stopped and said through gritted teeth, “Don’t make me beat you.”
“Mrs. Shi, please get in the car.” The two maids were neither requesting nor demanding. They showed no fear of Nina’s thinly veiled threat.
“And I said no way. If you really want to get me in the car, you’ll have to tackle me and tie me up.” Nina’s anger was about to boil over.
Seeing a stalemate between Nina and the two maids, Richard had no choice but to come over. He told Nina, “Mrs. Shi, you know we can’t do that. We don’t have to make this difficult. Just please get in the car.”
Of course they could not do what Nina just suggested. Otherwise, John would kill them.
Last time, when Nina got so drunk and beat him the entire trip home, John ordered him not to fight back. His legs, feet, and body were still bruised from that incident.
“It’s you who’s making this difficult,” Nina retorted. She could not go back to North Yard, or she would be bullied by John over and over again.
He was a liar. He had been lying to her and making fun of her all this time.
“Get out of my way.” Nina knew that without John’s order, they could not touch her.
The three people in front of her right now were martial artists. She could not defeat all of them by herself.
“Mrs. Shi, please get in the car.”
Hearing the same sentence again, Nina snapped. She was about to unleash her wrath on Richard and the two maids when she heard footsteps approaching.

It was John.
“Mr. Shi.” Richard and the two maids bowed respectfully.
Nina’s heart began racing at the sight of John. She averted her gaze. As soon as Richard and the two maids relaxed their vigilance, she dashed right through them. She ran as fast as she could.
“Mrs. Shi runs away!” Henry exclaimed. “Go after her and tie her up once you catch her.” John frowned. The darkness in his eyes made his face look gloomy.
“Yes, Mr. Shi.”
After Richard and the two maids rushed after Nina, John added after them, “Don’t hurt her.”
“Yes, Mr. Shi.” This would be the first time for Richard to catch someone without hurting them. He anticipated that it would be difficult.
John sighed heavily and turned his head at Nine who was sitting next to him. “Go, Nine,” he said.
But this time, Nine did not listen to him. John continued, “Go. You have to protect her.”
The night wind gently stroked John’s handsome face. From where he was standing, he could still see Nina’s purple dress. She might be running away from him now, but John was confident that he would get her back.
The little girl could not escape from his control now unless someone helped her. John turned around and walked back to the banquet hall.
At the banquet hall, no one from the Ye family was around anymore. All that remained were the bigwigs and celebrities they had invited.
John sat in a corner and brooded. Now that everyone in the city knew that Nina was his wife, no one would risk their lives to help her escape his clutches. John was a member of the Shi family, and nobody crossed the Shis.
Still running as if her life depended on it, Nina thought of everyone that could possibly help her. Her friend, Michelle, was in Spring City; James would not dare go against his uncle; and Albert could not be fully trusted. She had no one to help her now.
After making sure that she had lost Richard and the two maids who were chasing after her, Nina slowed down.
Leaning her hands against her knees, she found herself getting choked up by the looming realization that she could be coming back to North Yard whether she liked it or not. Where else would she go otherwise?
It seemed that John had made and executed the perfect plan this time, but he forgot to factor in one more thing.
“A car! Great!” Right then there, a car came cruising by. Nina looked at it and shielded her eyes from its headlights. Then, she hurled herself in front of it.
Noah immediately stepped on the brakes. Before he could process what just happened, the woman was already banging on his window. “Please help me. I need to get out of here. I will pay you. Please.”
Noah slowly rolled down the window and took a closer look at the stranger. “Nini?”
“Noah?” Nina was stunned for half a second and then almost sobbed on the spot. She had never felt so happy in her life. “Thank God you found me! I’m saved! Open the door, please. I’m being chased by some people.”
Nina patted the car door, sweating and looking around anxiously. It was just a matter of time before Richard and the two maids caught up with her. There were not really too many twists and turns to lose them in.
“Get in.” Noah opened the car door, and Nina got in quickly.
“Nini, where are your shoes? Why are you barefoot?” As soon as Nina got in, her feet were the first things Noah noticed.
He just saw Nina run out of a small park, which was paved with stone roads. He wondered if her feet were injured.
“It doesn’t matter. We must leave now. They’re going to catch up soon.” At this nervous moment, Nina was in no position to pay attention to her feet at all. Her eyes were fixed on the road behind that was dimly lit.
“All right. Buckle up.” Noah stepped on the accelerator as Nina fastened her seat belt, and the car lurched forward like an arrow off a bowstring.
When Richard and the maids finally reached the road, Noah’s car just turned a corner. They could only hear the sound of the car driving away.
“Someone helped Mrs. Shi run away.” Richard felt embarrassed. There was three of them, and they could not stop a twenty-year-old girl from running away. “What do we do now?” The two maids looked at Richard.
“You two follow that car and capture its license plate. We can get something out of that information. I’ll go back and report to Mr. Shi.”
Richard summoned up his courage and went back to report to John. As soon as he was in front of him, he said, “We failed to get Mrs. Shi back, Mr. Shi. Someone helped her escape. We were incompetent. Please punish us.”
