James looked around, but he still could not find Emma. His eyes were as red as an angry wolf’s. “It doesn’t matter who I am. Have you seen Emma?”

Alice had never met such a handsome and fierce man. Although he looked a little disheveled and stressed out, he still gave off a vibe that she found completely irresistible.

“No, no,” she answered. A splash of color slowly crept up her usually pale face. “Are you a friend of Emma’s?”

James ignored her question and pushed her aside. He yelled in frustration, “Weren’t you together? How could you not have seen her? Are you blind?”

Alice staggered backward with the force of James’ push. She almost fell, but someone came in time to catch her.

The person who helped her was the one who had asked her before if she was sick.

Alice wanted to fall down so that she would have an excuse to accost James, but someone steadied her. She turned around and saw the staff who caught her. “You again? Can you stop ruining my plans?” she said angrily.

The staff let go of her and said nothing. Alice did not appreciate his kindness at all.

Alice stared him down and then looked at James. She recognized the sort of clothes James was wearing. They were expensive, the kind that she could not afford even if she worked herself to the bone for several years.

He was not only handsome but also rich.

“Who is he? What’s his relationship with Emma?” Alice whispered to herself.

The staff who had just helped her splashed cold water on her. “Stop staring at him. He’s Emma’s boyfriend, and he’s already introduced Emma to his parents.”

Emma was from a working family, and James was from a rich family. It was surprising that two people from two entirely different worlds ended up together.

What was more surprising was that James’ family seemed to approve of his relationship with Emma.

How could a wealthy family like the Shi family want an ordinary girl like Emma to be James’ future wife?

Thinking of this, Alice’s face grew gloomy. She stomped her feet hard, and this time she really fell down.

The staff did not help her again.

It was easier to help those who wanted to be helped.

“Where’s my girlfriend, Director Xin?” James waded through the crowd and found Director Xin for whom he still had respect.

Director Xin did not expect that James would get the news so soon. With a guilty expression on his face, he answered, “I’m sorry, Mr. Shi. This is our fault. We didn’t take good care of Emma.”

“What do you mean you didn’t take good care of her?” James’s heartbeat quickened at Director Xin’s apology.

When the director did not answer right away, he hissed, “Answer me, Director Xin. And don’t lie to me. If you lie to me, I will definitely…”

James did not want to finish his sentence. He trailed off at the thought of Emma being in danger. His panic started to envelop his heart like a swarm of ants.

“Don’t worry. No news is the best news. I’ve sent someone to Maple Road to look for her. For now, we’ll just have to wait.”

Director Xin had gone through numerous ups and downs. He had learned to remain calm when things got out of hand. He waved his hand and asked someone to get a chair for him.

James looked up at the direction of Maple Road. The sun was shining, but the whole street seemed to be sunless. From where he was standing, he could not see any sort of movement or any signs of life.

“Where is she?” James stared at the direction of Maple Road as if he could see Emma.

Emma would be fine.

James believed firmly.

With a cold face, Director Xin turned to Alice and said, “Tell Mr. Shi where Emma went.”

Alice, who was startled to be called, felt a chill down her spine and stammered, “I…I don’t know. She went to the Maple Road.”

“Be more specific!” James said in a harsh voice. He was becoming a little impatient. When Alice did not answer, he pressed, “I said be more specific. Are you deaf?”

Alice trembled. Why was this man so mean to her?

“She went to buy milk tea last night. There’s a milk tea shop on Maple Road, and it’s the only one over there. It’s located right in the middle of that stretch of street,” she answered. Her ankle started bothering her from her last fall. She felt extremely aggrieved that no one brought a chair for her.

“Buy milk tea?” James sneered. “Emma doesn’t drink milk tea. Who the hell asked her to buy it?”

No one replied.

Alice held her breath. What a lucky dog Emma was to have such a handsome and rich boyfriend!

“Director Xin, keep an eye on the person who asked Emma to buy milk tea. I’ll let them pay after Emma is back.” With a malicious glance at the crowd, James turned on his heel and ran toward Maple Road.

“Mr. Shi!” Director Xin tried to stop him, but James was already a considerable distance away. He was not even able to touch the hem of his clothes.

He grew so anxious that his eyes turned red.

They were so alike.

James looked exactly like the male supporting role in the movie.

It took Director Xin a lot of time and energy to finish the script of the movie. Compared with the hero, he preferred the male supporting role. He liked the male supporting role’s courage and relentlessness.

In the past, Director Xin was not brave enough to risk his life like the hero of his own story. He lost the woman he loved most.

Now his beloved woman lived a happily married life while he was left behind, alone and lonely.

After she left, he never allowed himself to fall in love with another woman again. Not letting himself be happy was his idea of punishment for letting his beloved woman go.

If he had been as brave as James before, he would have been happy now.

Director Xin’s old, tired eyes gradually misted over, and he slowly put down his hand. He believed that James would find Emma and return safe and sound.

“Where are you going, Alice?” Director Xin caught a glimpse of Alice, who was trying to leave, and then asked the staff to surround her.

Alice stopped dead, terror filling her now teary eyes. Her body trembled slightly as the wind caressed her skin. She just ate a mouthful of dust brought by the breeze.

Emma and Roman was moved away, and a ray of sunshine shone on their faces.

The sudden light blinded them and prompted their hands to block the sun. “Emma, come out. I’ll carry you out.”

James couldn’t see her clearly against the light, but it was indeed Emma. Emma only saw a tall figure. He stretched out a pair of strong hands and hugged her.

“James,” Emma murmured, tears streaming down her cheeks.

They caught each other in a reuniting embrace.

Emma was relieved she was finally again with the greatest support in her life.

He was the happiest thing that came into her life. And now, he saved her.

“I guess you’re right. I hope they come soon. It’s getting a little difficult to breathe in here, and I’m starving,” he said. “Are you an actress? I’ve never seen any actress come here to buy milk tea.

The filming site is a little far away from here. Why did you come? If you hadn’t come, you wouldn’t have ended up here with me, squatting in the dust like a trapped little mouse.” The man was good at dealing with people. He flashed his white teeth and two dimples at Emma.

“My name is Roman Chen, a student of C University.”

Emma realized why this milk tea shop was popular. The man was rather attractive.

When she came all the way here, she happened to come across a group of girls who were sipping their milk tea and giggling among themselves.

Emma gradually smiled.

She was reminded of how adorable her boyfriend was.

Wherever James went, there was always a group of avid female followers. They swooned over him, but every time they came too close, he took the initiative to put his arm around her shoulder and announce their relationship proudly.

He had a girlfriend.
