MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 51
With drowsy eyes, Nina turned around to face John. “Honey, we won’t do morning exercise today.”
John smiled and wrapped her in his arms. “Then sleep a little longer.”
“Okay, honey.” Nina said that in a monotonous tone. It seemed she expected to hear something else from John. He laughed and gently kissed her on the forehead.
They slept early last night. The sun had not yet risen when they woke up, so the both of them decided to go back to sleep before heading downstairs for breakfast.
“My final exams are coming. It will be difficult for me to go to the campus from here. I should stay there for a few days and come back after the exams, what do you think?” Nina tore a small piece of bread to eat. She glanced at John as she put it in her mouth, almost playfully.
“How many days?” John asked.
“Six. The exams will be held three days from now, and they’ll last for another three days. So a total of six.”
That was too long for John.
He could not stand it. He wanted to have Nina close every second of the day. “I’ll go live with you then,” John said decisively.
Nina almost spat out the milk she was drinking. “Honey, it’s only six days. It’s not even a week. Do you really have to live in my apartment with me?”
“Is there a problem with that?” John reached out to wipe the milk from the corner of her mouth.
“Uhm, yes.” Although she sounded hesitant, she nodded heavily. “There is a big problem. If you go with me, I won’t be able to concentrate on studying. I won’t be able to sleep at night. That means I might not do as well as I could on my exams.”
What she said was true. John also knew it.
She could focus on anything without being affected by whatever external factor, but John was an exception.
His handsome face really distracted her, even his smell, or just the fact that he was in the same room.
As long as she sat next to him, she would never be able to put her mind on anything but John. The urge to admire him was too intense.
“I won’t touch you,” John said sternly.
Nina looked like she did not believe him.
Men lied all the time.
No one would believe a man’s words, especially when they said things like what John just said.
“I’m afraid I can’t control myself.” Nina blinked her eyes. “You don’t know how fascinating your face is, not to mention your figure. You know I won’t be able to hold myself back.”
Without looking at her, John lowered his eyes and smiled.
He knew that he was handsome.
Her words did please him. He also knew that she was just flattering him, but he still gave up to compromise. “Do your best in the exams. I’ll pick you up right after.”
“Yes, sir,” Nina said in a serious tone and then smiled.
“Say it again,” John demanded.
“Yes, honey.” Nina submitted.
John peeled a boiled egg for her. He cut a small piece with his spoon and fed her. “Have breakfast, my little girl.”
The two of them were having breakfast happily when Chester came in. It was about half past seven.
“Good morning, Uncle John and Aunt Nina.” Chester sat next to Nina. He was neatly dressed and looked as if he was headed somewhere else.
Helen brought in Chester’s exclusive breakfast.
“Chester, I’m going to stay in my apartment near L University for six days. Pack up your things after breakfast and come with me if you want.” Nina reached out to pat his head.
John was stunned. He raised an eyebrow.
It surprised him that his wife asked Chester to live with her while she tried hard to dodge his request of staying with her there.
“Got it! I’ll pack my things quickly after.” As Chester finished speaking, he seemed to feel a stream of cold air.
Nina continued, “But I have to prepare for the exams during the daytime so I won’t have much time to accompany you. Play with Nine instead, okay?”
John tilted his head. He was listening intently while trying to look like he was focusing on his food.
‘So she’d take the two but not me.’
John let out a sharp exhale.
Squatting in front of the sofa, Nine also felt a cold gaze.

Nine turned to look at John’s face and was so frightened that it turned back quickly. It accidentally pressed the remote control with its paw; the TV flashed morning news.

“At eight forty-five last night, an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale struck C City…”
Hearing the word earthquake, all of them looked sideways to glance at the TV. They saw the ruins on the screen and instantly frowned at the sight of it.
“Hmm, that is so unfortunate.” Chester lost his appetite. He walked to the sofa from the dining table and sat down to watch the news report.
He felt deep concern for the victims. Seeing young people cry made him even sadder.
Nina was also worried.
As she let out a deep sigh, her phone rang to signal a video call from James. “Aunt Nina.” James sounded and looked tired, as if he did not have a good rest. “Haven’t you gone to see Emma?” Nina asked. “Why do you look like you got robbed?”
“No. I haven’t.” James touched his beard, ignoring Nina’s remark.
With a disgusted and teasing look on her face, Nina said, “I thought you asked where she’d be.”
“Yeah, I did.” James sighed. “When I got off the plane the other day, I asked if she was still there, but it turns out they already headed to another place. I just wanted to take a good rest here before we met so I could at least show up with a pleasant look, but I lost contact with her last night when I tried to reach out.” “Hmm, you said you lost contact with her?” Nina felt a little uneasy. “Why is that?”
“I don’t know. Last night, she wasn’t answering on WeChat, not even phone calls. I thought maybe she had no signal or battery. I called her again countless times when I woke up this morning but I still couldn’t get in touch. I’m starting to get really worried.” He was anxious about it. “Can you help me locate her, Aunt Nina?”
“Of course, just give me a second.” As soon as Nina said that, John had already stood up to bring her a computer.
Within a moment, Nina found the location of Emma’s phone.
“It says here that she’s on Maple Road in the T District of C City…” Nina’s pupils suddenly shrank. “C City!”
She thought about the news.
Then Emma might…
Raising her head to look at John, Nina bit her lips tightly. She was frightened.
He held her in his arms and brushed her shoulder.
It only sank in to James. “C City!” He also knew the news about the earthquake. James felt nervous. “I’ll look for her. I have to hang up now. Maple Road, right?”
He had a good memory. He could remember almost everything that he read or heard even just once.
This one in particular, he knew he couldn’t forget.
Nina stopped him. “James, don’t go alone.”
“I have to! My girlfriend is still there. Who knows what could have happened to her?” James said firmly, but the hint of anxiety was still obvious. “I’m hanging up.”
He dropped the call immediately. Nina knew there was no way she could stop him.
“I’m going to C City. Don’t let Mimi know yet that Emma is there, okay?” Nina stood up with a firm look.
John pressed her shoulder gently and let her sit down. “No, honey, I’ll go instead. I’ll go with Richard.”
“Can you bring some medical and other supplies there?” Nina was taught to care about the people of C Island since she was a child. That was why there was a deep connection and melancholy feeling when she saw the ruins in the news due to the earthquake. People were devastated.
John did not do anything for charity, nor did he care about other people’s lives at all. He only cared about people around him. However, it seemed that Nina has influenced a change in that attitude.
His drive to go to C City was to help James.
He knew how kind-hearted his wife is. She always exerted effort to extend help to other people.
“Okay.” John nodded in agreement. He admired his wife so much.
James rushed from B City to C City at an almost impossible speed.
Emma’s crew did encounter an earthquake but they were shooting in a square at that time. No one from their crew was injured.
That was what they thought. No one noticed there was someone missing.
It was not until everyone was settled down in the morning that Director Xin realized that Emma was missing.
“Where’s Emma? Did anyone see her?” Almost everyone shook their head. “No, sir.”
However, there was one person who did not say a word. She was a nameless actress.
With a glass of warm water clasped in her hand, she lowered her eyes and did not even dare to look at Director Xin. Her body was still trembling slightly.
Last night, she ordered Emma to buy milk tea. That was when the earthquake happened, and she did not hear from Emma since then.
