- MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2
- Season 4 Episode 48 - (Preparing for pregnancy)
Holding a book in her arms, Michelle walked beside Richard and whispered, “Is Nini pregnant?”
Richard was not Henry. Richard was a man of few words and he seldom gave any responses.
Michelle thought that Richard didn’t hear her, so she asked again, “Is Nini pregnant? Back then, Uncle John would carry her in his arms. Now he carries her on his back instead.”
Noticing that Michelle kept talking, Richard replied, “I don’t know.”
“Oh. Okay.” Michelle was sure that her best friend was pregnant.
She decided to go back and check what pregnant women shouldn’t do.
After two years, there would be a cute toddler following her.
Thinking about it made Michelle happy, she could not help but put on a bright smile.
The four of them had dinner at a restaurant.
Michelle had been staring at Nina’s belly, tilting her head and wondering if the baby in Nina’s womb was only the size of a grain of rice.
John’s gaze became intimidating. Perhaps it was because he caught Michelle staring at his wife for too long. “Michelle,” he called out coldly.
The warning was obvious.
Michelle shivered all over. John’s eyes were ominously cold.
Michelle was terrified, so she looked away.
“Mimi, what do you want to eat?” Nina had ordered what she wanted to eat and handed the menu to Michelle.
Michelle took the menu and looked at it. She then took out her phone and searched for food that pregnant women should not eat.
Michelle put the phone in her pocket and checked the food that Nina ordered. “Nini, we shouldn’t order these dishes. This one’s too spicy, this is too greasy, and that one is too cold. We should order some other dishes.”
Michelle chose some light dishes for Nina.
“Can’t you eat?” Nina asked. ‘Mimi is not a picky eater. She eats anything except bitter food.
What’s going on?’
“Mimi, are you sick? Why didn’t you tell me? Did the doctor tell you to avoid certain foods?” When Nina was about to stand up and sit next to her friend, John reached out and pulled Nina to sit down. Every time Michelle was there, his wife’s mind was not on him.
It was really annoying.
Nina anxiously stared at John and said, “I’m worried about Mimi…”
“I’m fine.” Michelle shook her hands. “It’s not me, it’s you. You are pregnant. You can’t eat spicy, greasy, or cold food. You can’t eat seafood either. Do it for your baby.”
“Baby? What are you talking about?” Nina was surprised and stunned.
‘What is going on?
Who said I was pregnant?’ she pondered.
Nina said firmly, “I’m not pregnant. How could I be pregnant? We always use…” She trailed off as she remembered something.
Nina glanced at John and he remembered it too.
Last time in his office, they had sex without using condoms.
“Thank you,” John said to Michelle.
Michelle giggled and said, “I have the foresight, okay? You two haven’t had a baby yet. I’m sure you don’t know about this.”
“You have a baby?” Richard asked.
All of a sudden, they all looked at Richard. It was one of those moments too precious to let go.
Why would Richard take the initiative to ask?
A very rare occurrence indeed. Richard’s eyes met with theirs. “Is there anything wrong?” he asked.
Michelle shook her head and said, “No. I don’t have a baby. I just checked it on the Internet and they said pregnant women shouldn’t eat spicy, greasy, or cold food.”
“Wait. How are you so sure that I’m pregnant?” Nina asked in confusion. “I don’t feel anything wrong. It was only a few days ago that we had sex. It’s impossible for me to get pregnant so soon.”
“What? You think it’s too slow?” John glanced at Nina and gently stroked the back of her hand.
The touch made Nina’s brain go haywire.
“What do you mean?” Nina withdrew her hand.
John took out his phone and sent a message to his sister-in-law.
“Angela, how do you know whether a woman is pregnant or not?”
Angela was excited. “Is Nina pregnant?” she asked.
“I don’t know. How can I know if she’s pregnant?” John replied.
“Check her menstrual patterns. If her period is delayed for a week, she might be pregnant. You can buy a pregnancy test stick. If it shows two bars, then you should go see a gynecologist,” Angela suggested.

“The premise is that her period is delayed for one week, right?”

“Yes. Because if she’s pregnant, she won’t have her period.”
“Yes. Because if she’s pregnant, she won’t have her period.”
John raised his head and looked over at Nina. There was still more than half a month before Nina’s next period. It was still too early to jump into a conclusion. He asked again, “How can a woman be pregnant?”
“Huh? Why are you still asking me that? You still don’t get it? It depends on you!” “I’m working hard,” John replied.
Angela was blushing with all the texts she received. “It’s not dark yet! Ah, it’s good to be young.”
John replied, “You misunderstood it.”
“Ask Nina to pay more attention to her diet. I know that she likes seafood, but seafood is not good for girls.”
When John saw Angela’s suggestions, he put away his phone.
When they finished ordering, John took the menu to confirm that all their dishes were friendly for a girl’s stomach.
“I just remembered that you often eat seafood. You rarely eat the authentic dishes from Lexingport City. You’re really missing out. I’ll take you to taste more,” John said.
“All right.” Nina smiled. “I ate the local food once. It’s delicious. Lately, my alcohol tolerance has become low. Before, I could drink three glasses of wine. Now I can only drink one.”
Nina raised her index finger.
She felt a bit ashamed.
She had never thought that her drinking capacity was getting worse, while others’ was getting better.
Besides, she had never seen anyone who would hit people like her.
The people close to Nina felt the same way.
John’s slender fingers fell on top of Nina’s hair, making his fingers appear paler.
He tidied Nina’s hair.
She was unique.
The type of unique that he’d sell his soul for.
After the dinner, they dropped off Michelle to the dormitory before returning to North Yard.
A dog and a child were sitting on the stairs near the gate, waiting for John and Nina.
As soon as Nina and John passed by the garden, Nine stood up and ran towards them ecstatically.
Chester also stood up. For the first time he threw himself into Nina’s arms like a normal child would. “Aunt Nina, why are you so late?”
He sounded like he was longing for Nina.
Nina’s heart skipped a beat. She realized that she became careless to forget that there was a child waiting for them at home.
Nina crouched and hugged Chester apologetically. “I’m sorry, Chester.”
When she saw Chester, she would always think of John’s childhood. John felt neglected and alone without his mother by his side.
Would he want to wait for someone to have a meal with him?
Nina felt sorry for Chester, but even sorrier for John.
“I’m sorry.”
For the first time, John did not get mad about Nina hugging Chester. He was once in that situation, he was not as brave and as lucky as Chester.
There was not a person like Nina in his childhood. He had never asked Sam why he had come back so late.
“We haven’t eaten yet. Let’s go eat,” John lied.
Nina did not try and debunk John’s little lie. She held Chester’s hand and said with a smile, “Let’s go to dinner.”
“Okay, let’s eat!” Chester had no clue. He happily held Nina’s hand and tugged on John’s sleeve.
John pretended not to know, but slowed down a bit.
They were like a typical family of three followed by a happy dog.
‘Uncle John, Aunt Nina. I will be filial to you, just like how I am with Mom and Dad.’
That night when John was taking a shower, Nina touched her belly and rubbed it.
The reason why John wanted a child was that he wanted a complete family.
“I want a complete family. It’s something I’ve always longed for.” With a gentle but mischievous smile, Nina quietly went to Helen and took one of her needles. She found John’s stash of condoms and pricked them one by one.
