MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 39
Nina didn’t pay attention to any kind of entertainment news. There were only two things she would bother doing on the Internet: searching learning materials for herself and gain unauthorized access to classified data about others.
It was James who reposted the news in the group chat of the Beggars’ Sect.
Nina and James were playing with their phones on the sofa while John was busy with his work in his office. Seeing the news, the two of them were stunned.
It took them a while to get back to their senses. After that, James sprang onto his feet, and with wide eyes, called John’s attention. “Uncle John! Uncle John! Your assistant is Howard’s son!” But John acted as if he didn’t hear anything. He continued to busy himself with his work.
“Uncle John, did you hear me?” James knew that John was not the type to dwell on the Internet often, so he thought that John still had no idea about their discovery. James rushed to John to shove his phone on his face. “Uncle John, look! Look! Your assistant is a member of the Ye family! Henry, he is…”
But his voice faded into silence after his persistent attempt to draw John’s interest. He put his phone down the moment John raised his head and looked at James in his eye. James felt intimidated with his aura.
“Forget it. How could you not care about your assistant at all?” James scoffed as he turned his back on John.
He suddenly felt a chill on his spine when he said those words. It fueled his sudden anxious feeling, so he walked back to the sofa, sitting like he was a rat trapped in a corner.
As soon as he sat on the sofa, he relaxed and lazily rested his head on it. He even stretched and crossed his legs on the tea table leisurely. It was a quick change of character.
“Can you believe it? Henry is a Ye.” James turned to check Nina who was still in a daze. He waved his hand at her and snapped, “Aunt Nina? Aunt Nina?”
Nina finally came around. She looked at the man who was trying to keep himself occupied despite the news. “Did you do it?”
Nina recalled what John told her. He declared that he would take the issue about Vivian into his own hands.
The result was far from her expectations. It was a surprise to her that Henry would come back to the Ye family to acknowledge his kinship.
“Yes,” John answered without giving a second thought. “When Vivian used you, she should’ve been prepared that she wouldn’t get whatever she wanted.”
It was indeed painful to be slapped by reality that she couldn’t get what she wanted.
Vivian plotted her own mother’s miscarriage so she could inherit the Ye family’s properties. But Henry was a hindrance to her plans—he was then the new rightful heir to take over the Ye Group.
All of Vivian’s efforts would be in vain. With Henry’s identity exposed, she would no longer be able to push through her schemes.
It was all thanks to John’s efforts. He made that happen. It was no wonder that the people of Lexingport City respected and feared him.
“That was awesome!” Nina praised him, nodding her head.
Each time that John saw his wife being proud of him, he couldn’t help but feel pleased. “You have a good taste in choosing a husband. What would you expect?” he smugly remarked.
Nina smiled awkwardly at him.
He was indeed a man who would amaze anyone. But then, it would go into his head and be conceited.
“Am I missing something here?” James had no idea what the couple were talking about. He looked back and forth between the two people.
He still couldn’t figure out what was going on.
“Are we still talking about the same thing? I’m talking about your assistant. Oh, he is not your assistant now.”
James looked outside the office. “No wonder I didn’t see Henry today. Did he go back to the Ye family?”
“I suppose so,” Nina blurted. “Brother Noah told me this morning that his family asked him to have dinner with them this evening.”
“That strongly implies that Henry already returned to them. There may be more things to be announced tonight.” A tinge of pity appeared in James’ eyes. “I will never see Henry in your office again.”
Seeing how James would miss Henry, Nina suggested, “You can go and see him in the Ye family’s house or Ye Group. He would be happy with that.” Nina felt it was a pity too. She met John’s eyes and contemplated, “Henry was the best assistant that you could ask for. He was more than that. It’s a pity that he will be replaced.”
His wife cared so much about him, and John appreciated it. He said shortly, “Richard.”
“Uncle John, you cannot take advantage of Richard like that!” James gasped. “He’s already your bodyguard, and now you want him to be your assistant? Are you out of your mind? It is a draining job to be your personal assistant. Why would you make him juggle over two jobs?”

“Got a problem with that?” John put his pen down and swiveled his chair. His leg was resting on his other leg, crossed, while facing James and Nina.
“No.” James had his tail between his legs. He felt pressured with John’s action. “I have no problem with it.
Richard doesn’t seem to be against it.” A considerate look was received by Richard, who was standing next to them. He calmly said, “Thank you for your concern.”
“No worries.” James sighed. “Good luck to you.”
He witnessed how Henry worked day and night. He even noticed the bags under his eyes. He even doubled his efforts when John had to accompany Nina and leave his work behind.
‘Too bad. What a shame to lose him,’ James thought.
Nina broke the silence and said, “Henry doesn’t look like Brother Noah.”
‘Since when did she start calling him Brother Noah?’
John wondered.
The expression on his face changed slightly.
“Yes, they don’t look alike.” James agreed with Nina. “If they would stand next to each other, no one would ever think that they are biological brothers. But it was even on the news that a paternity test determined their kinship. It must be true.”
Noah and Henry were brothers but from different mothers. They grew up in different environments, and pursued different career paths. It shaped them to be who they were then, which resulted to their distinct temperament and upbringing.
The calm one was Noah. He had a stern appearance, complemented by his neat crew cut. He gave off that image of a policeman.
On the other hand, Henry was the type who exuded with a gentle and sophisticated scholar vibe. He had long hair and wore glasses that covered his eyes. His fashion sense even contributed to his style, and he would work in a well-fitted suit.
They were total opposites. It was hard to find a connection between them.
It was said that Howard was a faithful husband who only loved his first wife. They said he married Julie just because he didn’t want spend the rest of his life alone.
No one expected that he had an illegitimate son.
Rumors spread like a wildfire. Some were true to the story, and some were plain bullshit.
“Will they get along with each other? I hope that they do.” Nina was worried about Noah. She wondered how he would feel when he knew he had a brother.
“Of course they will. Noah is not interested in the family’s property. If he was, then he would have taken over the family business. Besides, he isn’t short on money. He is even the top on the rank of richest people. Uncle John is only temporarily at the second place,” said James.
“I can’t believe you still have the time to read such list. You seem to have a lot of free time. Anyway, I hope for them to be good brothers,” Nina added.
If there was no conflict of interests, there should be no friction between them. Nina believed so.
All that Nina could wish for was for Henry to treat Noah well.
John stared at his wife intensely. He couldn’t digest the thought that she began to care about another man again. Just the thought of it made him upset.
“Where is Emma?” John asked as an excuse to send James away so he could be alone with his wife. “You two don’t date? Maybe you need money for a date. How much do you need? Here you go.”
“What?” Before James could react, John had already taken out a blank check and placed it on the table.
John searched for James’ eyes and hinted that he should take it and leave as soon as possible.
With that gesture, John couldn’t wait to ask his wife what was bothering him.
No one else should know what he would ask her.
