MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 38
After hanging up the phone, Nina shook her head and sighed, “John’s ridiculous. He said he was one year old.”
Noah just smiled. He thought back to the conversation between Nina and John just now and asked her casually, “Is he afraid of thunder and rain?”
“Yes,” Nina confessed. “Noah, I’m not sure if I can go out with you on rainy days anymore. I think I’d like to just be with him.”
“I will sort out the information and e-mail it to you. The more you analyze, the better you will be at profiling,” Noah said. “Its’ a little cold out here. Let’s go inside and have a seat. Is he coming to pick you up later?”
“Did you hear that?” Nina was a little surprised.
Noah shook his head. “I took a guess.”
Noah knew that John wasn’t afraid of the thunder or rain, it was the water that scared him. Very few people knew about that though. He assumed John would have told Nina by now but it seemed not.
Maybe John didn’t want her to worry about him.
After all, it was between John and Nina. Noah knew that it was none of his business.
The only thing he cared about was whether Nina was happy or not.
He assumed it would take John a while to come here all the way from North Yard and he wanted to make sure that Nina wouldn’t go home hungry. “Nina, do you want me to cook something or order some food to eat? Even though I’m not around here very often, Kelly restocks my fridge a few times a week so there are things to eat.”
Nina had noticed that the fridge had been constantly running. She shook her head and said, “You can just make dinner for yourself. John just said on the phone that we would go back home for dinner.”
Nina was at a loss whether to cry or to laugh.
John was a thirty-year-old man but he still got jealous all the time.
“I’ll cook after you leave. It’s far too embarrassing to eat by myself while you watch,” Noah admitted.
Nina nodded with a smile and said, “That makes sense.”
It was almost seven o’clock when John finally arrived at Noah’s apartment. He didn’t stand on ceremony and took Nina away almost immediately.
Noah wasn’t going to even offer them to stay. He stood at the door, looked at John, and said somewhat sincerely, “I accidentally overheard your conversation with Nini. I heard that you were afraid of thunder and rain.”
Hearing this, John tightened his grip on Nina’s waist. His gaze became colder as his deep eyes seemed to peer into Noah’s soul.
He seemed to be warning Noah not to expose his secret.
In order to not arouse suspicion, Noah added, “She specifically told me that she is going to be with you on rainy days from now on and asked me not to—”
“Brother!” Nina turned around and glared at him.
She couldn’t let John hear what she said. Otherwise, he would be over the moon. “Really?” John chuckled.
He patted his hand on Nina’s waist and said slowly, “I like rainy days.”
Nina rolled her eyes and kept quiet.
The obnoxious arrogance seemed to start already.
John whispered in her ear, “Remember your promise.
You have to stay with me every rainy day.”
“I’ll stay with you all the time, okay?” Nina patted him on the shoulder. “We have to go back home quickly. Chester hasn’t had dinner yet and I’m hungry as well.”
“Didn’t Noah cook dinner for you? What a mean man! Don’t come here anymore,” John said cheekily.
Nina opened her mouth but no words came out.
Noah was also a little stunned.
They didn’t know how to respond.
“I’ve got some stuff in the fridge. I can make dinner for you now if you want.”

Noah raised his eyebrows slightly. He stood there, waiting for John’s response.
John said, “It’s too late now.”

Noah smiled and nodded. Watching them disappear left his heart aching. John and Nina drove back to North Yard.
They came back to a delicious feast on the table. Nina licked her lips and said, “I’m so hungry. Chester, are you hungry too?”
“Yes.” Chester was practically drooling. He had to wait for them to get back before he ate.
“Have some soup first.” Nina handed Chester a warm bowl of soup and touched his head. “John asked you to wait for me to have dinner. You must be hungry.”
Chester looked at John and shook his head. “He didn’t.”
“I know he did,” Nina said. ‘Your uncle can’t hide anything from me. I know him too well.’
She didn’t say it out loud as John was a proud man.
Everyone in the room was well aware of it anyway.
John was eating quietly looking very content. His wife was home, and that was all he cared about.
The rain outside was gradually calming and subsiding while Nina sat with John in the study.
“I won’t let Vivian go,” Nina said in pure aggravation. She told John what Beth had said today.
“Okay,” John said calmly.
He had already had his plan in the works.
Suspicious of his nonchalant attitude, Nina questioned, “I want to get revenge on your childhood sweetheart, and you just don’t care?”
“What? My childhood sweetheart?” John asked.
Nina never forgot about John and Vivian’s history.
“I don’t have a childhood sweetheart.” John held Nina in his arms and sat down.
He continued to work as if nothing had happened.
“John, I’m jealous. Don’t you understand?” Nina looked at him in disbelief. “You have to make a girl feel special when they’re jealous.”
“What?” John glanced at the woman in his arms, slightly confused and then continued typing. He was a little busy to be dealing with his work right now.
He planned to finish his work as soon as possible and go to Spring City with her. “Fine.” Nina understood that he was busy with his work so she struggled out of his clutches. “I’ve comforted myself. Don’t worry.”
“Thank you so much, honey.” John let go of her. “I’ll sort Vivian out.”
“What are you going to do?” Nina pried. John usually handled things with brute force, but Vivian was different from other women.
Before Nina, the only woman who was even allowed near John was Vivian. This was a well-known fact and this really sparked rumors throughout Lexingport City
Nina knew that John didn’t have any feelings for Vivian but she couldn’t help the jealousy that crept in.
Nina didn’t know anything about John’s life before they met. It was an area that Vivian knew much better than her.
“Two days. You’ll know in two days,” John said intriguingly.
He gave Henry two days to decide whether he would go back to Ye family.
“Okay.” Nina wasn’t expecting him to be so mysterious, letting the suspense build.
For the next two days, she investigated the dismemberment case with Noah while waiting to see what John’s scheme was.
Noah and Nina had cracked the case. It was reported everywhere and it should be as a result of it being such a massive breakthrough.
However, the limelight soon shifted to some hot topic about a rich family.
John’s assistant turned out to be the illegitimate son of the chairman of the Ye Group.
