MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 37
Noah smiled when he heard what Nina said.
“Oh? What do you mean?” Nina turned to look at him, her eyes gleaming. “I want to be your sister. Not just like a sister to you.”
A stiff smile formed on Noah’s face. His eyes glistened as he gazed into Nina’s eyes. He could read what she was thinking.
She knew he felt lonely.
She wanted to be his family.
“Thank you, Nini.” The smile on his face gradually softened. He was at a loss for words, not knowing how to describe the emotions that surged inside him.
“What are you thanking me?” Nina asked knowingly, expecting to hear the answer she wanted.
Noah didn’t treat the Ye family members as his family.
“Nina, I’ve always seen you as my sister. I’ve considered you family ever since you started calling Aunt Kristina your aunt.” Noah reached for the dry towel in Nina’s hand and stepped forward to dry her hair.
Letting him dry her hair, Nina smiled and called, “Brother.”
Noah stopped what he was doing. Upon hearing Nina call him her brother, he knew he couldn’t confess his feelings for her anymore.
That was good, though.
They were family now.
As long as Nina was by his side, he was okay with it.
“Nini, will Leon get mad since you call me as your brother?” Noah joked, grinning. He kept drying her hair.
Nina smiled back. “No, he won’t. He just wants people to treat me well. But his hostility towards John has only worsened as each day passes.”
“He’s afraid that Mr. Shi will take you away from him.” Noah put away the towel. “Let’s go. I’ll dry your hair with a hairdryer.”
“No, no. I’ll just let it air-dry. My hair’s going to be damaged if I subject it to too much heat.” Nina combed her hair, tucking it behind her ears. She couldn’t care less that her hair was a little messy.
Amy sat on the sofa, keeping her eye on the balcony where two people were talking. She took her phone out and sent a message to John.
Amy typed, “Mr. Shi, Mrs. Shi and Mr. Ye are talking on the balcony.”
John responded, “Take her back.”
After receiving the order, Amy stood up and said to Nina, “Mrs. Shi, Mr. Shi wants you to go home already.”
“It’s still early. Don’t worry. He and Chester can have dinner alone.” Nina didn’t even turn to look at Amy as she kept her gaze on Noah. “Go on. Was Aunt Kristina always like that even as a child?”
“In other words, arrogant and domineering? Aunt Kristina had always been like that, but no one hated her for it. In fact, she was well-liked.”
“What about you?” Nina couldn’t help but be interested in what Noah was like as a child. He probably had more freedom than she did.
Lost in his memories, Noah began to narrate, “I always followed Aunt Kristina around. Anytime I would get into a fight, she would encourage me. I fought with others so badly that their mothers wouldn’t even be able to recognize them.”
Nina laughed and leaned forward. “Looks like you were a tough child too!”
Noah nodded. “Yup. I was a naughty child.”
“What?” Nina was shocked. “I didn’t realize that. But that makes sense. If I saw right through you in the beginning, then you wouldn’t deserve to be one of Professor Gu’s disciples.”
As Noah looked at the huge smile on Nina’s face, he recalled the past—back when they had just met.
Nina had changed. She talked and laughed more now.
This was a good thing.
‘Nini, I hope you can live happily every day.’
The two of them enjoyed the night breeze while Amy sat on the sofa, visibly restless.
Trembling with fear, Amy relayed Nina’s message to John.
“Mr. Shi, Mrs. Shi said it was still early. She told me to tell you that you could have dinner with Chester alone.”
The next moment, Nina’s phone, which was on the sofa, began ringing.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
John was calling.
Amy easily put two and two together and realized who it was. She called, “Mrs. Shi, you have a phone call.”

“Who is it?” Nina asked.
“Mr. Shi.”
“Oh, give me my phone.”
“Yes, Mrs. Shi.” Amy gave Nina her phone.
Nina answered the phone. “Honey, what’s wrong?”
“Go home for dinner.” After a pause, John continued, “If you don’t, Chester won’t eat anything.”
Just as Chester took a bite of bread, he raised his head.
Mouth agape, he stared at John.
He lowered his gaze and stared at the bread. Could he still eat?
Then John grabbed the bread and threw it in the trash can.
Chester was at a loss for words.
He quickly chewed the bread in his mouth before swallowing it.
He was scared that John would force him to spit it out just to get Nina to come home.
Nina didn’t believe in John. She’d known Chester for so long. Did he really expect her to buy that story?
“Chester isn’t like that. He’s not a child.” Nina held back her laughter. “John, how old are you anyway?”
In a low voice, John muttered, “One year old. If you don’t come back, we won’t have dinner. It’s up to you.”
“So childish!” Nina was exasperated. Then something dawned on her as a serious look flickered across her eyes. “It’s raining tonight. Are you scared of the thunder and rain?”
She recalled that John often had nightmares whenever it rained and thundered.
John was stunned. What he was afraid of was not the thunder and rain, it was water. However, he wasn’t ready to tell Nina that.
“Yes. I’m scared of the thunder and rain,” John admitted right away. This way, he could use the excuse again in the future.
Chester was rendered speechless. Once again, his head shot up and stared at John who was obviously lying.
‘Uncle John, shame on you!’
Ignoring the glares that his nephew was shooting at him, John smiled as he heard Nina say on the phone, “All right, all right. I’m coming back now.”
“I’ll pick you up.” John hung up the phone just in case Nina changed her mind.
Chester had grown more brazen especially that he’d known Nina for a while now. In a serious tone, he reminded John, “Uncle John, I thought you were afraid of the rain and thunder? It looks like the rain isn’t letting up.”
John paused for a moment.
“I lied to your aunt Nina. You didn’t notice that?”
“I did,” Chester answered.
“Then why did you say that?”
“Uncle John, you can’t lie to people. It makes it even worse that you’re lying to Aunt Nina.”
John reached out and stroked Chester’s hair. A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. “You still have a lot to learn.”
“I’m only ten years old.” ‘Isn’t it too early to learn this?’ he thought to himself. John glanced at him and said, “I didn’t ask you to look for a girlfriend now.”
“Okay.” Chester lowered his head. “I’ll find a woman like Aunt Nina to be my wife when I’m thirty.”
“Don’t even consider. There’s only one Nina in the world.” John raised his chin proudly. “And she’s mine.”
John grabbed his coat as he made his way to the door. Before leaving, he warned, “You better watch yourself. If you do anything to Nina, I will personally break your legs.”
Chester broke out into a cold sweat.
‘Uncle John, I’m only ten years old!
Not thirty years old.’
