- MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2
- Season 4 Episode 34 - (Death and dismemberment)
Adrian was a playboy. Even if he had changed after becoming the CEO of Song Group, people didn’t believe him. After all, a leopard cannot change its spots.
Noah, on the other hand, was responsible and mature. His father, Howard, didn’t take Adrian seriously. “I’m not you. I don’t have an illegitimate son.”
Howard didn’t have an illegitimate son. But his daughter had been born out of wedlock.
And that was Vivian.
Adrian just snorted to himself and didn’t show it. As long as Howard didn’t cross the line, he’d just let it slide.
Dark clouds blotted out the sun. Sheets of rain fell from the heavens.
Outside the window, the rain was streaming and the room was dim. When Nina looked up, she could see the raindrops streaking across the glass window, leaving traces like meteors.
Thick clouds of fog hung outside.
The sudden heavy rain made Nina even more restless.
Then, her phone rang. It was Noah. “Nin, please come to No. 144 River Road.”
When Nina heard Noah’s serious tone, she knew something was up. She got to her feet and said, “I’ll be there soon.”
She hung up the phone, hurriedly took a coat off the rack and ran downstairs. John sat on the sofa and heard her frantic footsteps behind him. He turned his head and looked at Nina.
“Where are you going?”
“There’s a case.” Nina walked to the door and put on her shoes.
John dialed Amy’s number. “Go out with Nina and make sure she’s safe.”
After he hung up the phone, he saw that Nina was already gone.
Amy waited for Nina, holding a big black umbrella. The two of them went to the scene of the crime together.
At No. 144 River Road
The whole street was grey and sober. It was all crumbling buildings, green tiles and gray walls. Rain fell along the eaves, dripping on umbrellas.
The houses on both sides were small stores, and the road in the middle was only a meter wide. The water pooled on the road, creating puddles everywhere.
Nina’s and Amy’s feet were covered with rain and mud. Under the attack of the wind and rain, their clothes were more than a little wet.
The rain was so heavy that it was like a curtain of pearls. They could scarcely see ten feet in front of them.
And the air was filled with the sounds of rain falling on umbrellas, buildings, canopies, and people.
When they were about to get close to their destination, someone stood at the door of the store and waved at Nina. “Nina! Here.”
It was Mr. Black.
He held an umbrella and stopped in front of Nina. His pants were soaked.
The shadows cast by the clouds combined with the rainy weather made his skin even darker. His large, white teeth stood in stark contrast to his skin tone.
“Nina, Captain Ye’s waiting for you inside.” Black started walking alongside Nina.
“What’s going on inside?” Nina raised her voice so he could hear.
Mr. Black frowned and said, “The informant, Beth Wang, opened a laundry shop. An hour ago, she found three severed fingers in one customer’s coat, so she called us. After we rushed over here, we found a severed leg in her shop, only the part below the calf.”
“Death and dismemberment?” Nina’s eyes darkened. The three of them just arrived at the door to Beth Wang’s laundry shop.
Noah and his men had sealed off the area. Mr. Black stopped Amy and said, “You can’t go in.”
“I have to protect Mrs. Shi.” Ignoring him, Amy took a step forward, but he stopped her and repeated his statement. “You can’t go in.”
Amy glared at him coldly.
She only obeyed John and Nina.
Nina turned around and said to Amy, “Stay outside. I’ll be fine.”
“Yes, Mrs. Shi.”

He felt a little upset.
But Amy ignored him.
Mr. Black had never seen such a cold woman. He curled his lips and went inside.
When Nina walked in, her nostrils were hit with the familiar scents of soap and washing powder.
Tom was asking Beth Wang for the details. He was tall and thin, blocking the middle-aged woman.
When Noah came out from the back room of the laundry, he happened to see Nina. Her hair was slicked by rain and dripping, and her sleeves were stained by the damp day.
“Nini.” Noah called out to her, took off his dry uniform and held it out for her. “Put it on so you don’t catch cold.”
Nina quickly donned his coat. It was wide and loose, like a child playing dress-up with their parent’s clothing. She had to admit she was warming up.
“Black told me three fingers and a leg were found.” With a zooping sound, Nina zipped up her clothes, looked around and asked in confusion, “Why would you dump corpses at a laundry?”
When the two were discussing the case, an abrupt voice sounded.
“Come here and take a look.”
“Why are you here?” Beth Wang recognized Nina.
Nina looked in the direction of the voice and saw the person the voice belonged to. It was the middle-aged woman from the hospital. The woman who accused Nina of murder.
No wonder Nina felt the scent of soap familiar.
The two looked into each other’s eyes. Pointing at Nina, Beth Wang said in a trembling voice, “You… you are poli…”
Beth Wang didn’t say the last word. Her eyes were full of horror, as if she had seen a ghost.
When Nina saw her, she remembered what had happened to Julie’s unborn baby. She pursed her lips and said nothing.
Beth Wang took this as acquiescence. She trembled more violently.
“Why? Why me?” Beth Wang sat on the chair and cried.
Since Nina and Noah were busy with other things, someone else would have to calm her down.
Noah looked at the severed fingers and leg in front of him. “The lividity is obvious, and these parts are rotting. The corpse has been dismembered for quite a while now.”
“But no one has reported a missing person in the past thirty days, and no other parts of this body have been found,” Tom said. “They haven’t been found yet.
Why are these parts in the laundry store, though? As long as Beth does the laundry, the body parts would be found.”
This question also troubled Noah and Nina.
Of course, it would also be a breakthrough point.
“Where did you find these parts?” After Nina asked the question, Tom brought a coat and a box.
“Beth Wang found the fingers in the pocket of this coat. The severed leg was found in this box. There was a dirty piece of clothes in this box.”
Nina took the coat and looked at the Logo on the box. It was a high-profile luxury brand.
If a person could afford this brand, there should be a servant who specialized in washing clothes for them. Why would they send the clothes to a low-end laundry shop?
“Have you asked who own this coat and this box?”
“Yes,” Noah nodded. “I’ve sent someone to investigate. We’ll get the result soon.”
Putting down the coat, Nina walked towards Beth Wang and asked, “Do you know who own the coat and the box?”
“Yes.” Beth Wang had no reason to lie.
“These two people are plasterers. My husband works with them. A week ago, they asked someone to send the dirty clothes here. My husband is in the hospital, so I didn’t have time to wash them. I happen to be free this afternoon, and I wanted to wash the clothes. Who knows…”
“Plasterers?” How could plasterers afford such expensive clothes?
Something was definitely amiss.
