MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 32
Brian didn’t respond—he only smiled and watched Jessica leave.
When he pushed the door open and entered the office, he was greeted by the sight of two preoccupied people.
Brian thought that there was something wrong with the examination report, so he picked it up from the table and looked at it carefully. He couldn’t find any flaws in the report.
“Mrs. Shi? Is there anything wrong?” Brian looked down at Nina, who was sitting there staring absently at nothing. Nina raised her eyes and asked, “Really? Did the woman miscarry?”
“Huh?” Brian hesitated for a moment, thinking that she overheard the conversation between him and Jessica outside the door. “She lost the baby.”
With tears in her eyes, Nina nodded and said, “Okay. How is the situation looking right now?”
“Mrs. Ye is emotionally unstable. Her husband is on his way here.” That was all Brian knew.
“I see.” Nina slowly stood up and steeled her back, determined to take responsibility for this matter.
She held John’s hand and said, “Honey, come with me.”
“It has nothing to do with you,” John replied calmly, raising his hand to tenderly tuck a strand of Nina’s hair behind her ear. “I’ll deal with it.”
Nina knew that John had several methods he could employ to deal with this issue, but in her heart, she knew that she could never disregard her role in the accident.
She couldn’t say that she had a clear conscience for what she had done. In the end, she had killed a little life.
“No…”
“Be good.” Before Nina could voice out her refusal, John interrupted her, squeezed her hand, and left Kanner Hospital with her.
As the car pulled out of the parking lot, it drove past Howard’s car.
In the VIP ward
Pale-faced, Julie sat on the bed with tears falling unceasingly from her red, swollen eyes. Her pale lips trembled.
“My son, my son! Give me back my son!”
Vivian was aghast at the miserable figure that her weeping mother made. It seemed that her mother’s soul had left her body. Vivian didn’t expect her mother to cry for so long.
Wasn’t a daughter like her enough?
Ever since she was a child, Vivian had never disobeyed her mother. She had worked hard to gain a foothold in Lexingport City and obtain a high status in society for her and her mother.
Couldn’t Julie see all of that?
How could Julie weep so desolately for an unborn child?
Even so, this was her mother and they had a common interest. With mixed feelings, Vivian stepped forward to comfort Julie.
“Mom, it’s okay. It’s okay.”
Vivian tried to hug her, but Julie pushed her away. The words “It’s okay” seemed to have turned on a switch inside Julie’s head. The grieving mother seemed to go berserk.
“It’s okay? How could it be okay? That’s my baby we’re talking about. I was four months pregnant. Without him, everything is over. Don’t you know that?” Julie gripped Vivian’s arm tightly, her nails digging into Vivian’s skin. Vivian frowned in pain.
Even so, Vivian still tried to comfort her mother. “Mom, calm down. As long as you take good care of yourself, you can get pregnant again.”
Dr. Zhou reminded Julie dutifully, “Miss Ye, your mother is already middle-aged and has suffered a miscarriage. Another pregnancy may put her life in grave danger.”
Vivian returned the doctor’s stare without saying anything.
Julie grabbed her daughter’s arms, leaving red marks, and shook Vivian violently. “The doctor said I can no longer have a baby in the future. My baby!
Since my baby is gone, there’s nothing for me to live for.” Julie got up and suddenly grabbed a pair of scissors to stab herself in the neck.

“Mom!” Despite her shock, Vivian was fast enough to grab the scissors from Julie’s hand before she could injure herself. The doctor and nurses beside Julie were surprised into action and hurried forward to help.

Some of them made a grab for the scissors, while the others bodily restrained her in fear of the distraught woman actually succeeding in taking her own life.
If anything happened to Julie, all of them would be in big trouble.
Howard arrived to chaos inside the ward. His wife was waving a pair of scissors madly, while the medical staff were trying to control the situation.
“What the hell is going on?” Howard rushed over as soon as he heard that his wife was in the operating room. The thought of the baby’s death made him feel restless.
Seeing this scene, he became so furious that his head ached. His face turned ghastly pale.
Hearing the loud admonishment, everyone froze in silence. The silence lasted for only a moment. Julie, who was overcome once again with the pain of losing her baby, remained irrational. Once again, she started brandishing the scissors.
Vivian, who was standing the closest to Julie, subconsciously acted out to protect her mother, throwing out an arm.
“Ah!” Crimson blood shockingly bloomed on Vivian’s arm all of a sudden. A long gash made by the scissors’ track kept blood streaming down her arm to the clean floor.
“Vivi!” With a deep, worried frown on his face, Howard strode forward and pressed on the wound with his large hands. “Stop the bleeding!” he yelled frantically.
The well-trained medical staff of Kanner Hospital reacted quickly and pulled Vivian aside to stem the bleeding.
It was a deep wound, and it took the medical staff some time to stop the bleeding.
A loud clatter signaled the scissors dropping to the floor.
Julie’s hand trembled violently.
She stared blankly at her daughter, whose face was pale and dotted with sweat. Vivian suffered in silence.
“I…I…” Julie stammered out, seemingly snapping out of her grief-induced episode. “I didn’t mean it. I didn’t mean it, Vivi…” Julie walked over nervously, shaking all over.
Howard was extremely angry, but he felt sorry for his wife. He wrapped his arms around his wife and scolded her, “Well, don’t get involved anymore. The doctor is already taking care of Vivian’s wound.”
“Okay, okay…” There was a tremor in Julie’s voice. She leaned against her husband’s chest and felt a little warmth seeping into her body.
Howard changed the topic. “What’s wrong with you? How did you have a miscarriage?”
The question made Julie feel more agitated. She sobbed out, “Howard, the baby is gone! Our son is gone! It’s all Nina’s fault. She pushed me. If she hadn’t done so, how could I have a miscarriage?”
At the mention of Nina’s name, Dr. Zhou gave a start of surprise, and her fingertips trembled slightly.
John’s wife? How could it be?
Vivian actually dared to use Nina?
Dr. Zhou stopped what she was doing. Fear flashed through her eyes, and she had a bad feeling about the situation.
‘I’m screwed!’ she thought to herself. “Dr. Zhou.” Vivian interrupted her thoughts by calling her name in a low, meaningful tone.
“I will finish it soon.” Dr. Zhou’s mind was in a mess.
Howard was about to give in to his anger, but he suppressed it as soon as he heard Nina’s name.
Even if he weren’t afraid of the Shi family, he did not want to incur the wrath of C Island.
Nina was the princess of C Island, and he couldn’t offend her just like that. He had to know the whole story.
“Why did you meet her when you were supposed to be in bed?” Howard demanded in a loud voice. “Don’t lie!”
“I’m not lying, I swear! How could I lie about what happened to my own son?” Julie was so angry that she nearly fainted, and her chest heaved violently.
“Why aren’t you on my side this time?” Vivian explained, “Dr. Zhou said that since the baby’s condition was stable, Mom could do some light exercise. I helped her walk, and we happened to meet Mr. Shi and Nina. I don’t know what happened to Nina, but she slipped and pulled Mom down.”
