MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 29
The neurology department was located downstairs, where Nina was going to get an MRI scan of her brain.
It would take less than a minute to ride the elevator down there.
But Julie didn’t want to take the elevator. She asked Vivian to help her walk downstairs. As Vivian’s gaze brushed across the staircase, she grew fearful. If something happened to Julie when she helped her downstairs, Vivian would take the blame.
But if Vivian didn’t do something, her plans would be ruined.
Maybe it could wait till next Thursday.
Vivian decided to risk it and carefully helped her mother downstairs. Julie walked slowly. She had a baby in her belly to think of. It would normally take two minutes to descend the stairway. She took five.
She felt much better after she got a walk in.
Julie had been bedridden for a while. Because of her baby, she didn’t even put her feet on the floor. All she had to do with relax. Even her meals were brought to her. But she couldn’t stand it anymore. Julie had to get up and move around. She smiled and said, “How about one more floor?”
“No.” Vivian immediately shut her down. “Think of my brother. Today we’ll do one flight of stairs. You can walk more later. We’re taking the elevator back up.”
Julie thought what she said was reasonable. She didn’t want to overdo it. Supported by Vivian, she walked towards the stairway leading to the neurology department.
The elevator was all the way at the end of the corridor. Vivian couldn’t see the lift going up or down, she just heard a “Ding.”
She saw people milling out of the elevator.
Then Vivian heard a familiar voice.
“I’ve had multiple brain scans and each time we find nothing wrong. Maybe we are overreacting,” said Nina. She only had nightmares two times. She thought it was normal.
She wondered if she had made a mountain out of a molehill, because she’d been to the hospital once a week for several weeks and no one could find anything wrong.
Kanner Hospital was a high-level hospital with advanced medical equipment. Mistakes were almost unheard of.
John held Nina’s hand and said firmly, “Just in case.”
The man was a pragmatist. He wasn’t one to keep working on a project and see no benefit. He was renowned in the business world for discarding processes and practices that didn’t work. But this was Nina, and he resolved to be careful.
Nina leaned against him and said with a smile, “You’re right. Just in case. I feel good when I see the exam results, and the doctor tells me I’m fine.”
“It’s nothing. You’ll see.” John was not afraid of anything.
“Okay.” Nina nodded with a smile. The two of them walked forward, ignoring a middle-aged woman in plain clothes. She glanced at Nina from time to time and then walked forward.
It was like she was awaiting orders.
With a wicked gleam in her eye, Vivian held her mother’s hand and asked, “Mom, are you hungry? Or should we wait till later? I’ll have someone bring it to you.”
“Not really. With all this medicine your father’s given me, my appetite has hit rock bottom.” Julie patted the back of her daughter’s hand. Vivian was a sensible girl. She’d never hate her brother.
Vivian had taken good care of Julie and her baby.
Julie was happy her daughter was so sensible and was determined to have her marry a rich man.
A man like Adrian. He wasn’t as much of a catch as John, but he was rich and famous. The Songs were not poor by any means. And he turned heads—a lot.
She had plans for her daughter. She just had to make those plans come to fruition.
Julie had her own agenda, and so did Vivian. She helped her mother turn a corner, and they bumped into Nina and John, just like Vivian planned.
When Vivian saw John’s crew cut, she was startled for a moment, and her face flushed.
‘John is so hot. I don’t think there’s a better looking guy anywhere!
Unfortunately, I can’t get a guy like that—yet.’
There was hatred in Vivian’s eyes when she looked at Nina, but it disappeared in an instant.
The four of them were silent for a moment.
“Mr. Shi? What are you doing here?” Julie broke the silence and looked at John with a smile.
But she ignored Nina.
Nina took away her daughter’s happiness.

At first, Julie thought she’d be John’s mother-in-law. But after Nina hooked up with John, those dreams were crushed. It was all Nina’s fault.
So what if she was the princess of C Island? Julie didn’t care about that. What was so great about Nina? It was sheer luck she was born into a good family.
Julie was jealous. If she asked even the most innocuous question, John would glance at Nina, like he were asking her permission to answer.
“Why are you looking at me? She’s asking you.” Nina rolled her eyes at John. ‘John always throws trouble my way!’
John said indifferently, “Do I have to answer other people’s questions?” Julie’s smile froze on her face.
“If you don’t want to answer, just leave.” Nina glared at John again. Couldn’t he see Julie was pregnant now?
He just had to be difficult right now. If Julie got angry, Nina would never be able to defend him.
The two walked forward without looking at Julie and Vivian.
Julie and Vivian were standing in the middle of the hallway. If Nina and John wanted to go anywhere, they’d have to pass them.
Vivian seized the opportunity and winked at the middle-aged woman.
The middle-aged woman nodded and silently approached Nina. This was the hospital. There were many people coming and going, and Nina didn’t pay the woman any mind.
Julie was ignored by John and Nina, so she was quite angry. She ignored the woman too. The middle-aged woman looked behind her. ‘Good. There’s no one there.’ She palmed something as she removed her hand from her pocket.
Applying a little strength, she broke the thing. The scent of soap filled the air. Soapy water flowed out from her fingers and dripped on the floor, creating a puddle. The water reflected a cold light.
Nina stepped right into the soapy, slippery puddle.
As soon as she did, she slipped and flailed her arms, fighting for balance.
In a flash, Vivian pushed her mother aside on purpose and let go of her hand.
Before Nina could react, she fell, brushing Julie’s arm. Because of this, Julie lost her balance and fell backwards.
Nina was able to regain her footing soon.
John took advantage of the opportunity and grabbed Nina. Julie lay prone on the floor.
“Ah…” Julie’s pupils contracted suddenly. Without thinking, she tried to protect the life growing inside her, but that didn’t stop her from hitting the floor.
In an instant, blood flowed out from Julie’s legs and stained her skirt.
Both Nina and John were startled at the sight.
“Baby, baby, my baby…” Julie’s face turned pale and her eyes widened when she saw the red, thick liquid.
Vivian knelt next to her in a hurry. “Mom, what should we do? Somebody call the doctor!”
She shouted herself hoarse. Tears welled in her eyes. She lowered her head with a triumphant smile.
With that much blood shed, the child was as good as dead.
And the best thing was that she could blame it all on Nina. Vivian’s father thought the world of that child, even if he weren’t born yet. He would definitely take revenge.
Nina tried to think of something, but with her thoughts racing, it was impossible. She walked over and helped the pregnant woman up. Fortunately, there were nurses and doctors flocking to her side in an instant. Nina helped lift Julie onto the stretcher.
Nina’s hands and clothes were stained with blood.
She stared blankly as the attendants wheeled Julie away. She felt guilty.
It was her. She bumped into Julie.
At this time, someone beside Nina said timidly, “What the hell were you thinking? Why did you try to steady yourself using a pregnant woman? You made her fall.” Nina stared at the middle-aged woman in shock.
This woman was hired by Vivian to cause this catastrophe.
When Nina didn’t respond, she raised her voice. “That was a lot of blood. If she loses her child, you’re a murderer!”
Nina felt like she’d just been hit by a tidal wave, and rumors of her involvement spread like wildfire throughout the hospital.
