- Season 4 Episode 24 - (You are getting better and better)
“Nina, Emma, you’ve really misunderstood me. It was so stupid of me to have said something so wrong,” Sheila said hurriedly. She kept apologizing to them.
Other customers were starting to look at them. Emma reached out to touch Nina’s arm and said with a smile, “It doesn’t matter.”
What Sheila said was true anyway. Emma didn’t really care much about it. But the same could not be said about Nina. It was true that she didn’t care about what other people thought of her either.
But she couldn’t accept it that Sheila mocked Emma, saying she was not good enough for James.
“A slip of the tongue is never a coincidence,” Nina said slowly. “You just said what is on your mind.”
“Sheila, did you say that to Emma on purpose?” Michelle asked.
She cocked her head to the side as she asked her question, and her eyes bore an innocent look.
Sheila’s face turned pale at first, then flushed with embarrassment. She had to take a moment to calm herself down. Nina was John’s wife, and was James’ aunt.
She could not afford to offend Nina.
“No, I really didn’t mean that.” Tears began to stream down Sheila’s cheeks. “You really misunderstood me.”
Then she stood up abruptly and gave them a very low bow. “I’m sorry. I said something wrong. I’m leaving now.”
She ran away as soon as she was done speaking.
“Nina, did you misunderstand her?” Looking at Sheila’s back, Emma frowned.
“It’s quiet now,” Nina replied, unperturbed. “Let’s continue to have afternoon tea.”
“Great!” Michelle picked up her spoon and began to eat again. She noticed that her cousin was distracted. “Emma, since Nini believes Sheila said that on purpose, then she did. Nini majors in psychology, you know. She solved several cases.”
Once she began praising Nina, Michelle couldn’t stop.
Although Nina also wanted someone to praise her, there was always Michelle alone. The key point was that Michelle just had those few sentences that she talked back and forth. Nina could imitate Mimi’s tone to say those sentences now.
“Mimi, eat more.” Nina pushed a piece of cake into Michelle’s mouth with a smile, effectively putting a stop to her chattering.
Michelle widened her eyes at her friend to express her annoyance. But then as she finished chewing, her praises were diverted to the food in her mouth. “This cake is delicious.”
She followed it up with another bite. That made Emma smile, and she finally put aside the matter of Sheila.
They spent their entire break talking and laughing, and didn’t notice as tea time flew past them. In the blink of an eye, the sun was already setting. John had already called several times, coaxing Nina to head to Time Group.
“It’s time for Mimi and me to go back to school. You can go ahead and see your husband. If you’re not there with him soon, I have a hunch that he will be coming to you anyway,” Emma said with a smile.
“That’s right, Nini. Go back quickly. Don’t let him wait for too long, or he will bully you again.” Michelle winked at Nina with a wicked grin.
Although she knew about sex a lot, she was still a virgin.
Nina put a hand to her forehead.
Why did even Mimi tease her now? Was it because she was too obedient these days that made John push his luck?
They walked out of the tea house to see a Ferrari parked on the side of the road. James was leaning on top of its hood, his legs crossed in front of him. He looked around leisurely as he toyed with the sunglasses hanging on his index finger.
He had been here ten minutes ago, but he knew well enough to leave the three women alone and wait for them to finish their business.
“Emma, James came to pick you up.” Michelle let go of Emma’s arm and held Nina instead.

Since Emma’s boyfriend was here, she thought it was better for the two of them to hold hands.
Emma was a little embarrassed and shy.
“I didn’t tell him I was here,” Emma explained, her eyes locked on the handsome boy who had come for her. Right that moment, James looked over and smiled at them. “Hi, babe.”
The girls approached him.
Emma sidled up closer and asked, “How did you know we’re here?”
“Sheila told me that she met you here this afternoon. I thought you would finish your afternoon tea soon so I came to pick you up.” Out of habit, James stepped forward and put his arm around Emma’s shoulder. When he looked at Emma, his eyes were always full of tenderness and smile.
“Sheila?” Nina asked. “What did she say?”
“She kept apologizing and told me she said something wrong this afternoon and offended you. She asked me to apologize to you on her behalf.” James didn’t really care much about what had happened among the girls. He didn’t care about Sheila’s apology, as long as she didn’t cross the line.
“I told her that if she knew she made a mistake, she should correct it. I also told her not to do it again.” James pulled Emma closer. “I did the right thing, didn’t I?”
Ever since they started going out, James made a habit of fishing for compliments from Emma, especially when he did something he considered praiseworthy. At first, Emma was not used to it.
Unexpectedly, James retorted, “My girlfriend is a talented girl. I can’t be a drag on you. I want to be a better man. Otherwise, what if others say that I don’t deserve you?”
Emma’s eyes turned red upon hearing that.
It should be that she didn’t deserve James, a man with such a pure mind and knew how to respect her.
Her family background was not good enough either.
Every time she thought of what James had said and done, Emma would be moved.
“Good” was the most common comment from Emma to James, but she wanted to say something more today. “James, you are getting better and better.”
James was easy to please, especially when it came to Emma.
“I am just that awesome.” James raised his chin proudly. “Your boyfriend is so smart.”
Seeing that he was happy, Emma smiled too.
“Well, let’s go. Bye, Aunt Nina. Bye, Mimi.” James opened the door and assisted Emma into the passenger seat. He waved at the two people on the side of the road and drove off.
As they watched the car disappear into the highway, Nina couldn’t help but think back on what had happened back at the tea house. She was feeling a little worried.
No wonder John had said that James was so stupid. He didn’t even notice Sheila’s feelings for him.
“Nini, let’s go.” Michelle took her arm. They were about to leave when a black Lincoln screeched into a halt in front of them.
John quickly exited the vehicle, his face dark. He pounced on his wife and carried her back into the car without saying anything. In the next second, the car was off as well.
Michelle stood in place, stunned.
‘Sure, you all had someone to pick you up, but what about me?’
It suddenly occurred to Michelle that she no longer wanted to be single.
