Adrian came with a basin of hot water and handed it over to Henry. After wiping his hands with a paper towel, the two men entered the office.

“Here’s the hot water, Mr. Shi,” Henry said. After placing the basin next to John and Nina, he stood aside. Adrian immediately followed Henry.

The both of them stood side by side at the door like bodyguards.

John had no time to spare. He grabbed a towel and dipped it in the hot water before gently wiping the mud off Nina’s feet. Then, he lowered his head and blew at them softly to relieve some of her pain.

The truth was that even though Nina had barely felt any pain, she would still end up telling John.

It was because she liked how John showed his concern for her.

John continued to gently wipe her feet. His hands were light and careful and Nina felt how tender his touch was.

His feather-like touches tickled Nina, causing her to suddenly pull her feet back.

“Does it hurt?” John asked. He paused for a while and looked at her with concern.

His expression seemed to be filled with remorse.

“No,” Nina answered. “It just tickles a little bit.”

A smile appeared on John’s face. “Are you ticklish over here?”

“A little.” Once her feet were all clean, Nina withdrew them and sat on the sofa.
John took out a box and revealed a pair of white slippers. There was a white elk on the tip of each slipper and it looked very fluffy.

“It’s so soft,” Nina murmured. After slipping her feet in, she raised her legs a little bit to admire them. “They’re beautiful, John. It’s a pity that I can only use them at home.”

John remained silent. Instead, he flashed Nina a soft smile.

“Mr. Shi, we will be leaving now.” Since Henry was John’s assistant, John’s personal affairs were included in his job. He didn’t need John to remind him what he should and should not be doing. During that moment, he knew that he should take the basin away.

Henry was about to pick the basin up when Adrian placed a hand over his. “What are you doing? Is this part of your job?”

Henry didn’t know what to say.

He stared blankly at Adrian, wondering if he had any problem with it.

“You shouldn’t be doing things like this anymore,” Adrian said. Then, he looked at John. “Mr. Shi, Henry will be my assistant in the future.”

Adrian held up his head in a confident manner. After all, it was John who had asked Henry to be his assistant for a while.

“No,” John answered firmly.

“Why?” Adrian’s brows furrowed.

He thought that Henry was wasting his talents working as a CEO’s assistant. He knew that Henry was very capable and decided that he needed him when he started planning to invest in different promising industries.

He had to get Henry.

“I need him.” John didn’t bother coming up with any other excuse.

Adrian scowled. “I need him as well!”

“Ahem!” Henry cleared his throat and pushed his glasses up.

“Don’t cough over there. I’m serious,” Adrian said. “Mr. Shi, I really need him.”

“Me too.” John stood his ground.

Adrian, however, didn’t want to give up. “Just recruit another assistant. You can do that easily. Henry is irreplaceable to me.”

John looked unfazed. “Anything is possible.”

“But I only want him,” Adrian argued. He didn’t take his eyes away from John. He was determined to get Henry.

A blush crept on Henry’s cheeks upon hearing the comment about him.

The scene in front of Nina felt weird for her. The two men were fighting for the same man. “Why don’t you guys ask Henry’s opinion instead?”

Adrian raised his eyebrows. “You’re actually right. We should ask Henry. He will have the final say on this. Henry, do you want to stay here or go to Song Group with me?”

“I…” Henry felt hesitant to answer.

“It’s up to me,” John said. Even though he sat there with Nina in his arms, he still had that intimidating aura around him.

“Why do you get to have the final word?” Adrian still wore a scowl on his face. He felt very displeased with John’s attitude.
Adrian had never dared to talk back to John in that tone before. However, he had to act tough this time.

After all, this was about his happiness.

“I’m his boss,” John said matter-of-factly. It never occurred to him that Adrian would act so bold because of Henry.

Everyone in Lexingport City knew that Adrian was a coward and never dared to offend anyone.

John raised his eyebrows at the man. He was a bit surprised that Adrian actually had the courage to stand up to Henry now.

“So? I pay his salary every month.” Adrian raised his voice, but his eyes didn’t meet John’s.

“Everyone knows that I pay his salary. The money given to him came from my account.” John spoke calmly. Adrian was unable to find any fault in his words. Adrian clenched his fists.

He thought that it was shameless.

John was so shameless to say such a thing.

“I remember someone being late,” John said. Henry immediately knew that John was talking about him.

“Please punish me,” Henry replied.

“No way.” Adrian glared at John. “It’s not his fault. It’s mine.”

“Alright then. Work overtime for a month,” John said.

“Yes, sir,” Henry said obediently. Having to work overtime didn’t matter since he worked overtime it every day.

Adrian opened his mouth to say something else, but he immediately closed it again when he saw John glaring at him.

John shot Adrian a cold glare that told him to shut up or else Henry would continue to suffer.

Adrian let out a loud huff and stormed out of the room.

“Henry, aren’t you going to follow him?” Nina asked in a soft tone.

Henry blushed before he thanked Nina and left.

“Since when did you know about their relationship?” Nina poked John’s arm the moment they were left alone inside the room.

John easily caught Nina’s finger. “Adrian always made trouble for Henry.”

“What?” Nina tilted her head to the side and looked at him.

“Just like what I did to you.”

When a man always made trouble for another one, he was trying to draw their attention.

Nina pursed her lips. “So, you really liked me from the start.”

She gave him a teasing smile and thought that John must have been attracted to her beauty.

“It was actually you who had expressed your love to me first.” John smirked. “Well, that doesn’t mean that I was the one who liked you first.” Nina rolled her eyes.

“It doesn’t mean that I was the one to like you first either.” John always thought that Nina was attracted to his handsome features.

A snort escaped Nina’s lips. No matter what he said, she still believed that it was John who liked her first.

The two of them continued their discussion for a while. Nina gradually started to relax.

Nina smiled at John. She wanted to stay beside him no matter what he did. It didn’t matter what he was doing. She would not disturb him and would just quietly stay by his side.

When Nina went to school, she would make a video call and watch John through it. She didn’t care if he didn’t say anything. As long as she could see him, everything would be fine for her.

The others didn’t know about M.C. They just thought they were showing off their love. James and Emma were jealous of the two.

Michelle, on the other hand, had been busy every day trying to make up for her missed lessons. Occasionally, she would mention Leon.

Unfortunately, Leon and Michelle didn’t exchange contact information with one another.
