John had definitely mentioned this to Adrian.

During that time, John and Nina’s relationship as a married couple hadn’t been revealed yet.

Adrian didn’t know the relationship between them. He would occasionally mention Noah in front of John. Every time that happened, John would shoot him a cold glare.

It didn’t take long for Adrian to discover that John wasn’t very fond of Noah.

“Do you have a grudge against Noah? You don’t seem to like him,” Adrian said.
“Really?” John’s expression was stoic. Adrian nodded. “It’s quite obvious. You have a lot of complaints about him when you don’t even know each other. Did he offend you?”

John maintained his calm demeanor. There was no way he would be admitting that he was jealous.

He knew that Nina and Noah were quite close, but he would never admit to anyone that it made him angry.

“No,” John answered.

A faint smirk appeared on Adrian’s lips. Only a fool would fall for John’s answer.
Adrian was bored and tried to bombard John with more questions. In the end, John answered with three words, “Crew cut.”

The corners of Adrian’s mouth twitched.

John stayed silent for a few seconds before adding, “I hate people with crew cut.”

This had seemed to finally convince Adrian.

Adrian actually believed in John.

When he saw John’s new haircut, he was so scared that he thought he had seen a ghost.

John had admitted that he hated crew cut.

Why would John become the type of person he hated the most?

Adrian dropped everything that he was doing and went to find out the truth.

“Mr. and Mrs. Shi, please get in the car,” Henry said.

When John and Nina were already settled inside the car, Henry closed the door and returned to the driver’s seat. The car moved steadily and left for North Yard.

Nina stared at the top of John’s head. It had never really crossed her mind to reach out and touch it, but right now she felt like she wanted to.

“Can I touch it?” Nina looked at John and eagerly waited for a reply.

John raised an eyebrow. “Right here?”

“Yes, here in the car.” She was confused. Did the place matter if she was going to touch his hair?

She suspected that John didn’t want to be touched in public.

Perhaps it was because he paid so much attention to his image.

“Don’t worry, Henry won’t be able to see us. He’s busy driving.” Nina thought of how thoughtful she was. She started to reach out her hand.

“He might hear us.” John grabbed her hand and chuckled. Then, he moved closer to Nina’s ear and lowered his voice. “Besides, you have your period now.”

It wouldn’t be wise for them to do it at this moment.

Henry felt like sweat started to roll down his forehead. On May 20th, it was John who had been in a hurry with his sexual desires. Today, however, it was Nina. He wished that they would have waited to be alone first.

Henry couldn’t turn off his sight and hearing while driving.

With pursed lips, he thought that they should have driven the car themselves.

His face slowly turned red from embarrassment. He had no choice but to endure the entire drive home like that. There was a trace of confusion in Nina’s eyes. “I’m only going to touch it. It’s not like I would bite you or something.”

“I don’t mind if you want to bite me.” John’s dark orbs were filled with mischief as he moved closer to her.

Henry, who was trying his best to concentrate on his driving, swallowed hard.

He kept on glancing at the couple through the rearview mirror. Were they seriously going to do it right now in the car?

“Why would I bite your head?” Nina furrowed her eyebrows.

‘She only wants to touch my head?’

John was silent.

Even Henry was at a loss for words. They had actually misunderstood the situation.

Henry caught a glimpse of John’s embarrassed expression through the rearview mirror. His boss looked disappointed.

John had thought of an entire different thing from the beginning.

Because of this, Henry thought the same as well.

However, it felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

“You want to touch my head?” John’s voice sounded defeated.

Nina raised an eyebrow. “What did you think?” “Nothing,” John answered.

“Just go on and touch it.” So that Nina wouldn’t continue to question him, he grabbed her hand and placed it on top of his head.

The prickling sensation brought by his short hair seemed to have attracted Nina.

It was actually quite addicting. The shorter part of John’s hair was about three millimeters. The feeling while touching his hair reminded Nina of soft grass brushing against her skin.

It was as if she had a massage and it felt so good.

A soft sigh escaped from her lips.

Nina found touching John’s hair addicting. She couldn’t take her hand away from him. Suddenly, she came closer to John and pressed her lips softly on his head.

The kiss was quick, soft and gentle.

John suddenly tensed up. It felt like as if she had just touched him at a sensitive spot.

“Are you done?” Since Nina was still on her period, it was impossible for them to have sex. John grabbed her hand and held it tightly in his as he tried to control the sudden unwanted urge that appeared inside of him.

“Stop touching it already. It might prick your hand,” John said.

Nina shrugged. “It isn’t painful at all.” She still wanted to touch his head, but John’s grip on her only tightened which made Nina unable to break free from his grasp.

After a few seconds of struggling, she finally gave up. “Fine, I’m not going to touch it anymore.”

John let go of her hand and Nina sat obediently. A faint smirk formed on her lips. It didn’t matter if she wasn’t able to touch his head now. She could easily do it again at night when he was asleep.

The moment they arrived at North Yard, Chester came to welcome them along with Nine.

However, as soon as Nine spotted them, the dog immediately rushed over and started barking at John.

It acted like it was wary of him.

“Nine, what’s wrong?” Nina crouched down to hold the dog in her arms and pet it.

John cast Nine a glare and the dog immediately shut its mouth and paused for a moment before barking once again. This time, however, it started wagging its tail and ran around the couple to express its warm welcome.

“Nine, come here and tell your sister why you don’t recognize your dad.” Nina was playing with Nine while they continued to make their way inside.

“You’re not Nine’s sister!” John growled. He narrowed his eyes at the way Nina had addressed herself.

He stopped walking and faced the dog with a serious expression on his face. “She is your mom.”

Nina made an eye roll. She didn’t understand why John made a big deal out of it. This issue had been bothering John for a long time already.

“No, I’m Nine’s sister,” Nina insisted. A light snort escaped from her lips before she led Nine inside the house.

Nina grabbed Chester’s hand as she passed by him before walking inside. “Don’t you find it boring going to class without me?”

Chester gave a small shrug. “It’s fine.” Nina’s warm hand on his made Chester recall his mother.

Suddenly, he felt an inexplicable chill at the back of his neck.

“Uncle John?” Chester slightly furrowed his brows and glanced over to Nina.

“You weren’t able to recognize him, didn’t you?” Nina teased.

“No.” Chester shook his head and looked back at John.

“I didn’t recognize him at first either.” Nina still had a smile on her face. “I didn’t expect him to have his hair cut like that, but it actually turned out good on him.”

The moment John heard this, the cold expression on his face gradually softened.

She always said yes and meant no.

Earlier, she merely said that it was not bad.

John stared at Nina. Seeing an adult like her holding a child with a dog next to her made him imagine what it would be like with his child in the future.

He couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle at the thought.

The more Nina spent more time with Chester, the more likely she might want to have a child of her own.

John casually tagged along with them from behind.

He glanced at his watch and noticed that it was still early for his meeting. After shaving his hair in the office, he had headed to L University to pick Nina up.

He still had a lot of work to do, so he turned around and headed for the study.
Nina went to the man-made forest with Chester. John had a building torn down to make space for it. He also had a man-made lake placed inside the forest as well.

The quiet road leading towards the lake was surrounded by wild flowers.

There was also a swing by the lake. Some vines had crawled up on its bars and intertwined with each other. The flowers surrounding it had also started to bloom.

However, one thing was lacking and it was the elk.

In John’s eyes, Nina was the elk in North Yard that he was raising.
