MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 4 Episode 15
Nina became more and more curious as she neared the college gate.
She had always thought it was normal for women to talk about attractive men; she didn’t expect men to do the same. They were even sighing with their longing.
“Is that guy by the gate also a student of our college?”
“I don’t think so. If he did attend this college, all the campus girls would have gone crazy over him a long time ago and James would never rank first as the school hunk.” “You’re right. I guess he is from another college.”
“But what is he doing here? If he’s after a girl, he’d be better off to the normal college. Our college has few girls. It’s hard enough for us to score a girl; if he joins in in the competition, we’d definitely lose out on chances.”
“Indeed! Just look at those girls over there. Their eyes are practically glued to him. Don’t they have any sense of their surroundings? They’re going to trip on their own feet at this rate.”
“Nobody paid any attention to us back when Albert and James were still single. It’s like we didn’t exist. Now that they’re both in relationships, it should be our turn to shine! But then this guy appears out of nowhere.”
“Fuck! I might not be on top of the list, but I’m still good-looking! Why won’t any of the girls look at me? Is it my fate to be single my whole life?”
These male students kept talking and laughing among themselves.
They threw glances at the gate every now and then. “Well, to be honest, he really is handsome.”
“He looks so cool with his crew cut. I want to have the same haircut. Anyway, summer is coming.”
“Okay, we can go to the hairdresser’s together some other day.”
“No, no, no. I won’t do it. Such a hair style might suit him, but not us.”
The boys erupted in loud laughter.
They walked away soon after that.
Nina stopped in her tracks to give them a curious study. It was true that they were quite attractive by their own rights, but none of them could compare to her husband.
Just as expected, whispers from the girls soon reached her ears. “He’s so handsome!”
Really, now. All these comments were just grating on Nina’s interest more and more.
She hadn’t seen the person in question yet, but he must be really handsome if he could elicit such reactions not only from the girls, but from the boys as well.
Something clicked in her mind then. John had always been satisfied with his looks.
This might be the perfect opportunity to knock him off the pedestal he had thrust himself upon.
Nina chuckled and took out her phone to send a WeChat message to her husband.
“Honey, are you at the gate of the college?”
“Yes,” came John’s reply.
“Did you see a handsome man in that area? I heard a lot of people talking about him just now.”
“It’s me.”
Nina scoffed. ‘John you are so narcissistic. I’ll show you later that someone else is more handsome than you.’
“Where are you? Are there many people around you?”
Around this time of the day, students would usually be carrying out plans to eat dinner and have some fun with their own cliques.
That was why a lot of people would be coming and going past the college gate.
John stood on to the left of the entryway, his face a mask of cold indifference. Almost everyone who passed by was glancing at him, some discreetly, others openly, but none of them dared to approach him.
There was even a gaggle of female students who went back and forth through the gate several times just to have reason to stare at his face some more.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed one student raising his phone, about to take a photo of him without his permission. He glared at the boy, and the poor student was so startled and frightened that he dropped his phone and it shattered at his feet.
None of the other gawkers dared to take their own stolen snap photos after that. Despite his obvious aloofness—or perhaps because of it—the girls were even more drawn to him.
Paying them no attention whatsoever, John typed a reply to his wife’s message. “Nobody here.”
“All right, wait just a minute.”
“Okay.”
Nina’s plan was to take a photo of this extremely handsome man that everybody had been gushing about. This was the weapon she needed to put John in his place.

When she was at the gate, she looked to the direction of the students’ gaze, and saw a figure in black. He was indeed eye-catching, even with his back to her like this. He had broad shoulders that tapered off to a rather slender abdomen.
He was wearing a casual black suit, a white T-shirt, and a pair of white shoes, with one hand in the trouser pocket. His hair was six millimeters long.
Nina could already tell that the man had a vibrant charm.
‘He would be a total catch if his face is also good-looking,” she thought.
Then she cocked her head to the side. “He’s nearly as tall as John.”
She lowered her head to type another message to her husband. “Honey, wait for me for just one more minute.”
“Okay. Take your time and walk slowly. Don’t run.”
“Okay,”
Nina replied hurriedly and exited the messaging up. She was already at the gate, of course, but she had a secret mission to carry out before she met her husband.
It would only take less than a minute. Nina joined in among the throng of people who were gathered nearby and acted as if she were part of the group.
She opened her phone camera and glanced at her target once more.
She could see his profile now—a sharp jaw line, a protruding Adam’s apple, and a firm neck.
His nose was high, his eyelashes were well-defined even from a distance, and his lips were thin.
The more she studied his profile, the more familiar he seemed.
But that would be impossible, of course. What she said last night was only a casual comment.
Only when John went crazy would he shave his head.
Besides, he had told her that there was no one around him, and the college gate are was crowded at the moment.
While Nina was immersed in her thoughts, a girl sidled up next to her and spoke in a low voice. “Don’t be so obvious. Someone was about to take pictures of him just now, and his phone was broken.”
‘Is he really so fierce?’
Nina had already aimed her phone at the man, but she paused. She narrowed her eyes at the profile on her screen. He did look rather intimidating.
“All right then, I won’t take any photos.” She was just about to put her phone away when the girl beside her suddenly stiffened and started to elbow her. “Oh no, he’s looking over. He’s looking over here!”
The girl’s frantic movements startled Nina, and her finger slipped and somehow pushed the camera shutter button. She took a photo of that handsome and intimidating face.
“Oh! He’s so handsome! He’s looking at me!” The girl beside Nina twittered excitedly. She grabbed Nina’s arm and kept shaking it as she hopped in place.
She was so energetic, in fact, that pretty soon Nina began to feel dizzy from being shaken, and her arm started to feel sore.
Not that she minded much. This pain was nothing, she’d had worse.
“Okay, okay, calm down,” she said helplessly to the girl.
“Ah! I can’t calm down. He’s coming. He’s coming over here!” The girl shook Nina’s arm again, even more furiously this time.
In the frenzy, Nina raised her head just in time to get a good look at the man. And she promptly stopped breathing.
It was really John.
John had really shaved his head. Nina could think of nothing to say.
All that came to mind was what those other girls had said.
‘He’s exceedingly handsome and manly.’
Nina’s eyes were fixed on that god-like face, her eyes unblinking.
Seeing that his wife seemed to be in a daze, John only looked down at her with a faint smile. Then he caught sight of the phone in her hand, and his eyes eventually traveled along the length of her arm, which had grown red and tender.
The girl beside Nina stopped breathing, too, and her face was gradually turning redder by the second. She could not believe that a man with such divine looks was standing before her.
“Let her go.” John spoke in a cold voice that hinted at danger, as though he was issuing a threat to someone who offended him.
