Nina finally stopped resisting. She believed that John would stop eventually.

Since she left the hospital, she had no spare time to buy a menstrual pad or go to the bathroom. She figured that there was already a lot of blood on the seat right now.

John couldn’t do that thing to her right now.

In less than three minutes, John ultimately stopped.

Once he felt the blood on the seat of the car, he froze.

Bewildered, John asked, “Honey, did you have a miscarriage?”

In front of them, Henry wanted to cover his ears, but this thing was a serious matter. He tried to turn a deaf ear, but it was difficult to avoid eavesdropping, considering that he was just near them.

‘A miscarriage?

I didn’t peg Mr. Shi as someone so fierce.’

“Mr. Shi, should we go to the hospital?” Henry couldn’t help but ask out of concern. He donned a solemn expression and looked at them expectantly.

John’s face was just as stern. “Of course! Let’s go!”

Hurriedly, John stood up and held Nina in his arms. Feeling sorry for her, he gently planted a kiss on her cheek and said, “I’m sorry.”

Giggling, Nina slapped him on the forehead and muttered, “You’re an idiot. Just make me a cup of brown sugar water for me after we get home.”

Hearing the brown sugar, the two men finally realized what was happening. Henry turned around and drove to North Yard calmly.

With a sigh of relief, John furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes in contemplation.

Nina wasn’t pregnant?

How was that possible?

He had poked the condoms with a needle at midnight.

“Don’t think that I don’t know why you got up in the middle of the night.” After fixing her clothes, Nina smiled smugly at him. John felt as if he was just caught red-handed.

He could see Nina’s smirk from the corner of his eye. He cleared his throat awkwardly and feigned ignorance.

The woman beside him didn’t look away. She didn’t believe that he could resist the silent stare.

If it was somebody else, then John would definitely have no problem. He wouldn’t care about their gaze, no matter how sharply they looked at him.

But this person was Nina, his wife.

Nina was also a bright detective, no doubt about that.

John gulped. His palms were sweating profusely, and he felt as if he was sitting on pins and needles. “I was checking the quality of the condoms,” he muttered.

“Oh, really?” It was clear that Nina didn’t believe him. “You needed to poke them with a needle to check the quality?”

“Ahem…” Another awkward cough came out of his throat. John scratched the tip of his nose. Despite his efforts to remain calm, his guilt started to seep out of him like a faucet.

He calmly looked into Nina’s eyes and said, “If they can be easily poked, then that means the quality of the condoms is not good.”

‘Huh?’

How could she forget that John had a silver tongue?

“Well, if the quality is not good, you should throw them away.” Nina stated, waiting to see what excuse he would come up with this time.

Shrugging, he answered quickly, “I forgot.” John blinked at her, keeping a nonchalant tone.

Nina was speechless.

Who on earth would believe that he would just forget something like that?

As she scooted closer to him, Nina put his big hand on her shoulder and gently kissed his cheek. Then, she gave him a sly smile.

“Don’t worry. I replaced all of them.”

It was John’s turn to be speechless. ‘Ah, that’s why!’

John sighed heavily and tightly held the woman in his arms. When he saw the deep crimson color on the seat, he couldn’t help but frown.

“Have you eaten anything cold today?”

John recalled that she had an iced drink on her period last time and had a stomachache for a long time.

He also felt hurt for her.

“No.” Nina shook her head and leaned her head on his shoulder. She took out a tissue and wiped his hand before saying, “Noah took me to a Chinese restaurant. It was excellent.

Ford and Linn run the restaurant with Evelyn. Adrian and Evelyn are siblings. Did you know that?”

“Yes,” John replied simply.

At the thought of Evelyn, Nina felt bad for her. “You should ask Adrian to pay attention to Evelyn more. She needs the company of her family very much. Evelyn seems miserable, you know.”

When Nina saw Evelyn, she immediately knew that Evelyn had autism.

John nodded and took it to heart.

“Pity me too.” John made Nina sit on his lap and began to pretend to be miserable. “I also need the company of my family, and also little ones, you know.”

For some reason, he felt uneasy.

John had been investigating M.C., but he didn’t discover anything useful.

He couldn’t find the research personnel, and Isabella refused to tell him anything.
John was afraid that Nina would forget him one day.

Therefore, he tried desperately to make Nina give birth to a child. Even if Nina forgot him one day, the child was proof that they were a couple.

But Nina was not ready to be a mother, so she was cautious. She couldn’t risk getting pregnant that easily.

From time to time, John buried his head in Nina’s neck and gently bit her, enjoying the warmth of her neck.

However, Nina felt itchy at the gesture, so she drew back her neck, making John accidentally eat a mouthful of her hair instead.

“Stop it.” Nina patted him on the shoulder and pinched a wisp of his black hair. “I think your hair is a little long.”

Actually, John had short hair, and his bang only curled slightly to the sides. His smooth forehead was exposed. He would have his hair cut regularly.

It was just that Nina wanted to casually change the topic.

Frowning, John pulled her closer to him and whispered in her hair, “Oh? And what kind of hair counts as short for you? Something like Noah’s hair, huh?”

“Ha-ha…” Nina couldn’t help but laugh. He was jealous again.

“Don’t laugh at me.” With a stern expression, John patted her on the waist.

Nina immediately shut her mouth and pursed her lips tightly, but she just couldn’t stop giggling. Her eyes curved like two crescent moons as she continued to laugh.

“Sorry, it’s just that I don’t know how to respond to your jealousy.”

“Okay, be honest with me then. Do you want my hair to be cut shorter?”

“No, you are handsome now. Your hairstyle makes you look very young. It suits you.” Nina had always thought that John wasn’t actually thirty years old. In fact, she even believed that Sam made a mistake about John’s age when Sam registered for residence.

Sam could have chosen John’s least attractive photo for the marriage licenses. So it was possible that Sam made a mistake about his son’s age.

“What about Noah?” John was still jealous, it seemed.

A chuckle came out of her mouth. “Noah is not as handsome as you.”

When he heard this, a smirk appeared on his face for a second. Then, it turned stern again. “I was asking about his hair.”

Was John going to continue to talk about the hair?

Nina honestly didn’t know whether to cry or to laugh at this point. She had to tell the truth. Sighing, she answered, “Noah has a good crew cut. He looks particularly strong and good-looking, which highlights his features better. He looks very fresh.”

She described in detail this time. She was afraid that if John thought she was sugarcoating, then he would not let her go.

John’s face darkened, and he repeated coldly, “Handsome, strong, fresh.”

“Yes.” Nina was confused. Why did John repeat it?

For a few seconds, John did nothing but look at her with an expression that Nina couldn’t quite describe. Wordlessly, he just grabbed her hand and kissed it.

After returning to North Yard, John entered the bathroom.

Hearing the sound of water in the bathroom and looking at the dirty trousers she took off,

Nina bit her lips.

When she was about to turn around, the sound of the shower in the bathroom came to a stop. A few seconds later, John came out with a bath towel wrapped around his waist; his hand held another towel that he used to dry his hair.

Droplets of water dripped slowly from his body, he looked like someone from a movie or something. Nina followed the water drop to his abdominal muscles and gulped.

This was her man, so it was okay for her to touch his body.

Just as when Nina reached out, John caught her hand and stopped her. He touched her forehead and said pointedly, “You said that I am a match, and I’ll be on fire you touch me, right?”

Nina couldn’t help but pout. She really wanted to touch his muscles.

Honestly, she was utterly obsessed with his beauty.

“So, stop it.” John patted her head. “Otherwise, you’ll face the consequences.”

Nina was so startled that she took a step back.

She better stay away from him.
