- Season 3 Episode 89 - (A slave for his sister)
Sam was also a little embarrassed. It seemed that Leon wouldn’t let Jessica go.
Sam could only say to his daughter, “Apologize. Jessica, apologize to Nina. Now.”
Jessica did not want to.
She did not bow down and apologize to anyone in her life.
But at this moment, she had to lower her head and say in a timid voice, “Even though Nina is the princess of C Island, she’s still my sister-in-law. I don’t have to apologize to her.
Besides, she didn’t tell us who she is. We should’ve known. If I had known that she was the princess, I wouldn’t have made things difficult for her.
John is such an outstanding man. Only a lady from a rich and powerful family deserves her. I don’t think I did anything wrong.”
“Enough!” Sam was at the end of his rope. He seethed with fury.
“Your apology will be useless at this point,” Leon sneered. “Do you think you’re better than us? Wherever you go, you have to make a show just to let everyone know who you are.
The way you deal with things is always in sharp contrast to your own ability. You may come from a rich family, but you are a shallow, disagreeable woman.”
Hearing this, Nina was stunned.
She did not know her brother could be so mean.
She had never heard him be so sharp-tongued.
She should learn more from her brother in the future. Being frank with people would her feel comfortable.
Nina itched to try.
Jessica was so angry that her face turned blue. Leon was able to wake another kind of fury in her, searing and painful.
“I just want my brother to marry a woman from a family of equal social rank to ours. You don’t have to insult me.” She took a deep breath, trying her best to suppress her anger.
Even though she wanted to rip out Leon’s throat, she could not in front of so many people.
“Doesn’t the princess of C Island deserve to be a member of your family?” Leon asked in an aggressive tone.
Jessica retorted timidly, “I didn’t know she is the princess of C Island.”
“Then you are as blind as a bat,” Leon replied loudly. He was completely irritated by this unreasonable woman.
“Your brother doesn’t deserve my sister, and you will pay for what you have done to her.”
“I…” Jessica had run out of things to say.
“Get her out of here.” Sam motioned for Jake to take Jessica away.
Leon was a man of his word. Even if Jessica left unscathed tonight, he would still make her suffer one way or another.
“You care so much about a potential in-law’s family background and social status. Am I correct in assuming that you’re happily married to someone who comes from a prominent family?” When Leon wanted to deal with someone, he would investigate them thoroughly. He would find out everything about them from their basic personal details down to the skeletons in their closets.
Jessica stopped and turned to look at Leon. The smile on his face frightened her so much that her heart started pounding against her chest.
‘Does he know?
No, no.
I can’t let all these people know about my divorce.’
Jessica always flaunted how good her husband was to her and said that Jason could not live without her.
If people found out that she was divorced, she would be utterly humiliated.
“I have a good relationship with my husband.” Jessica raised her head and lied through her teeth.
With a faint smile, Leon raised his hand, and Wynn handed him a piece of paper. It contained everything about Jason and Jessica’s recently imploded marriage.
Leon was not just a prince of C Island. He was the favored successor and a well-known businessman who controlled most of the properties in his country. He was cunning and ruthless, and he destroyed his enemies without mercy. He had never fought a war he could not win.
Everyone he had ever dealt with was left in shambles with minimal to zero chance of recovery.
“What have we here?” he sneered. He wanted everyone to know the truth about Jessica’s failed marriage.
Jessica’s eyes were so wide now that they had started to water. Beads of cold sweat popped in her forehead. She wanted to walk over to Leon and grab that piece of paper, but she could not move.
“Leon…” Nina did not know that Jessica had divorced, but she realized it after hearing her brother’s words.
She tried to stop him.

Leon said to her, “You know I won’t let go of her easily.
If I don’t get a satisfactory result here, our government will step forward. The government of C Island has sent people to look for you a long time ago. This matter could upset the harmonious relationship between two countries if not settled my way.
The Shi family may be rich, but against us, they’re helpless.”
In an instant, the atmosphere at the banquet became serious.
If this was just a matter between two families, it could be resolved in private. But this was between two countries now, and the public had the right to know.
The Shi family’s century-old business would be ruined.
Jessica knew the consequences now. Also, there were political people among the guests. This matter would really involve a lot.
For the first time in her entire life, Jessica felt truly scared. She had finally met her match, someone stronger and more powerful than she could ever be.
It was not until now that she realized that she could not afford to offend the princess of C Island, but she had been offending Nina from the very beginning.
Pak!
At that moment, Sam raised his hand and slapped Jessica across the face. Because of the great force, she lost her footing and fell on the floor.
Jessica was stunned. “I…I did not…”
Jessica wanted to say that she did not go against Nina on purpose.
But deep down, she knew that she had been targeting her.
“Mr. Shi…” Jake wanted to say something but stopped on second thought. He turned around to help Jessica up and said, “Ms. Shi, are you okay?”
“Leave her alone!” Sam’s body trembled. “She doesn’t know her place and always makes trouble. She dishonored our family.”
Jessica looked disheveled now in her strapless dress. Seeing her helpless on the floor, Daniel immediately took off his coat and asked his wife to put it around Jessica’s shoulders.
“Here you go, dear.” Angela put the coat on Jessica and helped her up slowly.
Jessica was in so much physical and emotional pain that tears started flowing from her eyes. “Angela, I…I…” she stuttered.
She did not know what to say.
She just hoped that someone would take her out of the banquet hall.
“Let’s go home. We’ll talk about this there.” Angela rubbed Jessica’s shoulders, trying to soothe her. She did not want her to speak anymore. She was already in enough trouble.
Angela’s father was of a high-ranking politician. She had been worried that this matter would escalate to jeopardize the peaceful ties between two countries. She did not expect that Leon would be so determined to punish Jessica for everything she had put Nina through.
This was Jessica’s fault. She had not been wise enough to think up an exit strategy for times like this. None of this would have happened had Jessica just left Nina alone. She did not have to target her every chance she got.
Angela guessed that Jessica was still lucky that Nina was not as vengeful as her brother. Despite all she had done, Nina still respected her out of her love for John.
Meanwhile, Daniel politely reached out his hand and said, “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Lu. My name is Daniel Shi, John’s eldest brother. My father’s not feeling well. I hope you can understand and let us take him home to rest for the evening.”
The two of them looked into each other’s eyes. Leon saw the pleading light in Daniel’s eyes. Thinking that the old man could not be subjected to any more stress, Leon slowly returned the piece of paper back to Wynn.
“You’re James’ father?” The expression on Leon’s face softened. He reached out his hand to shake Daniel’s.
Sam asked Jake to help him out while Angela left with Jessica.
Daniel heaved a sigh of relief and smiled, “Do you know my son?”
“I met him yesterday. He’s an interesting young man.” Leon changed the subject and decided to let go of Jessica for the time being.
At the thought of Michelle setting James up yesterday, Leon could not help smiling. “He’s a good friend to Nini.”
“If my son didn’t behave well yesterday, I hope you can forgive him,” Daniel said with a smile.
Leon dipped his chin slightly and replied, “There’s nothing to forgive. He’s a delight.”
The matter was closed at the banquet for now.
With a faint smile, Leon said to the guests, “The dinner party will continue. I hope you all enjoy yourselves.”
Then he turned to Nina. “Nini, let’s go home.”
“Go home?” Nina was confused and wondered if they would go back to C Island.
Everyone’s first reaction was that Leon was going to take Nina back to C Island.
