MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 72
As Jessica strode inside, Nina did not stop her.
She darted her eyes at the elegant and dignified Vivian in front of her and said frankly, “Are you here to catch me cheating on John?”
Vivian looked at her and said in a weak voice, “You think too much.”
“Do I? Well, go ahead. Come in.” Nina stepped aside and let Vivian in.
Vivian thought that if Nina could calmly invite her in, it only meant either one of two things. One was that her lover was long gone, and the other was that the person she was with was John.
Nina and Wynn were in two different suites.
The latter was more likely.
Vivian clenched her teeth. This time, she really had set herself up for trouble.
“Thank you.” Vivian walked in and quickly followed Jessica. She wanted to prevent her from stating the reason for their unexpected presence.
Meanwhile, Jessica searched the place, leaving no stone unturned. When she was about to enter the master bedroom, Vivian quickly walked up and grabbed her.
“What are you doing, Vivi? I’m trying to find the adulterer.”
“Jessica, I think you must have misunderstood. Nina won’t do anything to betray Mr. Shi.”
The two had their backs turned to Nina. Vivian held Jessica’s arm tightly, and in a slightly embarrassed voice, she said, “We got it wrong.”
“What??” Jessica frowned.
Vivian nodded and replied, “Yes. Nina’s here with…”
She was stopped short. The door to the master bedroom creaked open.
When John came out in a bathrobe, he was a little surprised to see the two of them. He looked up not far away at his wife, and Nina just shrugged at him, indicating that she also did not understand why Jessica and Vivian had come.
John immediately understood. He could not help frowning and glanced coldly at his sister and her friend.
“What are you two doing here, Jessica?” he asked flatly.
Then, he took a bath towel, walked toward Nina, and wrapped the towel around her shoulders. He locked her in a tight embrace, completely ignoring Jessica’s and Vivian’s probing stares. “Sleep a little longer,” John lovingly told his wife.
“But I’m awake now. It’s hard to fall asleep.” Nina rested her head on John’s shoulder.
At the sight of this, Jessica paled and glared at Vivian.
Vivian let her come here with a bit of information whose truth she did not even confirm. What if John got angry with her?
With an apologetic look on her face, Vivian looked at John and Nina who were snuggling up to each other like they were the only two people in the room.
Fury flared in her heart.
But she could not be angry right now. She was not in the right place.
She could only grip her bag with way more force than necessary, turning her knuckles white.
“What do we do now?” Jessica glared at Vivian again. She could not tell her brother the reason that they came here.
John’s relationship with Nina had created a rift in their familial bond. She could not afford to widen that rift because of Vivian’s carelessness.
Vivian came to her senses and said gracefully, “Jessica and I are here to tell you something in person. The Song family will hold a dinner party at Repulse Bay Hotel tomorrow night.”
Jessica turned her head at Vivian and decided to follow her lead. “Yes. Everyone in our family will attend the dinner party tomorrow evening. The invitation is at Dad’s place. You can come pick it up before the party. It’s also a perfect time for you to drop by and see Dad.
Also, this party is quite special. There will be people from C Island. It will be a great opportunity for you to network with them, John. You have nothing to lose anyway.” Jessica felt so embarrassed of her sudden intrusion and said a few more words.
Nina blinked and then whispered to John, “Is my brother going to be there?” John nodded, “Most likely.”

Then, he looked up at his sister, who definitely had another intention, and said, “I see.”
John still talked to her, which meant he was not angry.
Jessica felt relieved, took Vivian’s hand, and left.
As soon as the two of them were out of the hotel, Jessica turned to Vivian and yelled at her, “What the hell is wrong with you? Can’t you check your information before you tell me?”
“I…” Vivian was pissed as well. She did not tell Jessica exactly that Nina was cheating on John. Jessica assumed she was.
Now Jessica blamed her.
Vivian could feel her anger boiling in her blood, but she could not talk back. Jessica liked her to be obedient.
“I’m sorry, Jessica. It’s my fault. I didn’t investigate well.” Vivian lowered her eyes and apologized, but in her heart, she promised that she would get Nina for this.
“But I’m sure the man in the photo is not Brother John. Nina was holding another man’s arm.” Vivian looked at Jessica sincerely, scared out of her mind that she would not believe her. She took the photo out again and showed her.
Jessica was very familiar with her brother. She did not need to look at the photo closely to know that the man in there was not John.
“There is indeed something fishy about this,” Jessica said thoughtfully.
Vivian felt vindicated. “Yes, something is wrong. I suspect that Nina has been deceiving Brother John.”
“That woman is indeed manipulative.
One time, I offered her money to leave John. She didn’t refuse directly. She even demanded twenty million from me and she wanted all of John’s property. John didn’t believe me and insisted on keeping her by his side. Even back then, I was sure that it was only a matter of time before she hooked up with another man behind my brother’s back,”
Jessica replied. “Now, I have evidence of it. I won’t let her off easily this time.” The corners of Vivian’s mouth subtly curled into a smirk. She said in a weak and melancholic voice, “Alas… Nina has deceived Brother John as well as you.”
Jessica took Vivian’s hand and comforted her, “Vivi, I didn’t mean to yell at you just now. Please don’t be angry with me.”
Vivian put her other hand on Jessica’s and smiled. “Why would I be angry with you? We’re on the same team. We just want the best for Brother John.”
Vivian’s eyes were full of worry.
“You’re a good girl, Vivi. I believe John will marry you one day. I’m from the Shi family, and I do everything for the family’s sake.” Jessica had always mentioned her family name when she made promises. It was her way of saying that she was a woman of power and wealth.
When Jason divorced her, Jessica told him, “The end of my marriage is not the end of my life. I’m not afraid. I can find a better man. I’m a member of the Shi family. I deserve someone better.”
After the divorce, she did not allow Jason to tell anyone about it. She might be a woman of her word, but she was also a woman of her face. She had always been terrified of losing her dignity.
Jessica cared about her status because it brought her a lot of honor.
She did not need to do anything or know anything to be flattered.
“I just hope that Brother John can be happy.” Vivian’s voice sounded as sincere as her eyes looked.
But in her heart, she firmly believed that she was the only one who could make John happy.
‘I’m the one who deserves you, John. My appearance, talent, and background make me worthy.
Only I can make you happy.
Nina is just a country bumpkin with a useless beautiful face.’
“Let me drive you home.” Vivian gave Jessica a ride back home.
In Jessica’s eyes, Vivian was a lady from an eminent family, dignified and elegant, sensible and considerate.
Such a woman deserved her brother. Jessica was even more determined now to drive Nina away so that Vivian could marry her brother.
