MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 66
It was still early. There were few people in the park.
The air floated in a thin layer of mist, and in that mist loomed Leon. He walked steadily, like a man on a heaven-mandated mission.
When Leon saw his sister in John’s arms, his face darkened. His cold eyes drifted to John, and when his eyes fell on Nina, the expression on his face softened.
“Come here, Nini.”
It was impolite for Nina to cling onto John in front of her brother.
She moved her body and prepared to get off John.
However, John held her even tighter and said, “Don’t move.”
His voice was neither loud nor low, just enough for Leon to hear.
It was as if to declare that Nina was his.
The two men’s eyes met, like two armies in a standoff.
Nina was afraid that they would fight right then and there.
A quiet and weird vibe hung over them like a cloud during their entire trip to the restaurant.
Their table was like a border separating two opposing powers, keeping them from ripping each other’s throats.
Nina sat beside her brother and ate the breakfast that the waiter just brought.
From time to time, she would glance at John and Leon, the two most important men in her life.
One was like a human emperor, and the other was like an immortal.
The two of them sitting together was particularly eye-catching.
One had a natural imperial temperament, calm, indifferent, and fierce. The other was like a celestial being, gentle, elegant, yet scheming.
Ten minutes had passed, but the two men still remained silent.
They looked calm and showed no inclination to start a polite conversation.
Nina sipped her milk and continued observing the two men. Finally, her brother moved his lips and spoke.
“You are like a pig who wants to steal the cabbage in my family.” The more Leon looked at John, the more dissatisfied he felt.
He thought that John was mediocre.
Nina almost spat out her milk.
Fortunately, she reacted quickly and swallowed calmly. Then, she wiped the corner of her mouth with a tissue.
The metaphor made John a little unhappy.
However, Leon was his brother-in-law, so he just frowned and bit back his retort.
Besides, what Leon said was right.
All the same, he felt the need to correct him. “The cabbage is already mine,” he said indifferently.
Nina was speechless.
‘He gets compared to a pig, and he is okay with that.
Well, of all the pigs in the world, mine is the most handsome. And the smartest, too.’
Nina could not help chuckling.
She really did not expect that John could actually turn insult into humor.
However, what John said annoyed Leon. Seeing that her brother was about to lose his temper, Nina said in a hurry, “Leon, cabbages are not beautiful.”
She batted her eyelashes at him, looking a little aggrieved.
Realizing what his sister meant, Leon changed his words.
“Nini, you’re a beautiful flower on a heap of cow-dung. We don’t need cow-dung.”
Getting compared to a flower instead, Nina was satisfied.
Cabbages were made for people to eat.
After they were full, they quickly forgot the cabbages. They were not fitting metaphors for women.
Women should be likened to flowers, beautiful and elegant. They should not be ordinary but radiant, attracting the ones they loved at a glance and making them fall in love forever.
John said calmly, “Cow-dung can provide flowers with nutrients.”
He could take care of his wife and help her grow.

Indeed, he needed to protect her well and let her live freely.
Nina looked at her husband with wide eyes.
‘What’s with him today?
Doesn’t he want his dignity?
Why is he agreeing to being compared to a pig and a heap of cow-dung?’
Leon was also stunned.
According to the information, John was the proudest man. But since he had started insulting him, he just sat there and responded calmly.
‘Is the rumor false, or does John really like Nini that much?
But Nini is still young, and her life has just begun. It’s too early for her to be married.
And to a much older man no less. Nini can’t be with a man ten years older than she is. When John turns forty, she will only be thirty years old.
They just won’t match. I don’t like this!
What if John dies ahead of Nini?
Nini will live as a widow,’ Leon pondered.
After thinking for a while, Leon still thought that this was not a good idea.
Nina was too young. She had better things to do than deal with marital problems.
“So what? You can’t protect her from wind and rain. I’ve been protecting my sister since she was a child. She’s still so young. I don’t want to give her away to an old man.” Leon smiled defiantly. “I’m afraid no one in our family will like it.”
The words “an old man” were indeed a thorn in John’s heart.
His little girl was really very young.
He could not help frowning.
Nina could not bear seeing John sad. Whenever he frowned, her heart rippled and cracked.
“You have good eyesight, Leon. I didn’t know that John is thirty years old at the beginning. I actually thought he was just in his early 20s. Mimi also thought so,” Nina said with a smile.
As a result, the smile on Leon’s face gradually stiffened.
His sister was not praising him. It was obvious that she was praising John for being youthful and handsome.
They had only been together for a short time, but her sister had already learned to speak for her husband.
Leon sighed and felt a headache slowly creep in his temples.
With a smile on his lips, John looked at Nina’s fair face and received a playful wink from her as well as a proud and pure smile.
It almost killed him.
He wanted to hold her in his arms and kiss her right then and there.
“I’ve already become a pig and a heap of cow-dung. I don’t mind becoming a big tree as well. I’ll provide her shade from the scorching sun and shelter from the wind and rain. She can come to me whenever she feels sad or overwhelmed.
I’ll be there for her. She can even vent her anger on me if she likes.” When John’s deep eyes fell on Nina’s face, his tone became a little domineering. “But I should be the only big tree in her life. I’ll be faithful as long as she is.”
John’s low and deep voice always had the magic to bewitch people. What he said was simple, but Nina felt and tasted the love behind the words.
It turned out those words of love tasted so sweet.
No wonder many people liked to hear them.
Nina leaned forward slightly, put her elbow on the table, and rested her chin on her left palm. She tapped her fingers on her cheek to the beat of her heart. A mischievous smile slowly spread across her pretty face.
“And if you dare let another woman take shelter under you, I will cut you down.” Nina smiled, but she did not seem to be joking.
John felt relieved. He leaned back, his eyes soft, and his voice took on a unique laziness. “I’ll even hand you the ax myself.”
“Then we’re on the same page.” Nina smiled wider and winked at her husband once again.
For others, it was just a gentle, innocent smile, but John found it quite charming.
He saw the same smile every morning when he woke up with his little girl in his arms. That smile could really kill him.
“Ahem…” Leon cleared his throat loudly, his eyes darting back and forth between the two.
He was still here. Could they be more impolite?
Leon thought that he was not that important to his sister now, so he threw some cold water on her.
“Nini, you got the marriage licenses with John listed as a resident of Spring City, but don’t forget that you’re the princess of C Island.”
