MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 57
Upon hearing this, Isabella felt terrible as her face turned pale.
“Nonsense!” she roared, attempting to stand up but failed as the nurses pressed her down.
She was still weak from having suffered for half a month. As the nurses continued to press her down, she was unable to resist.
Unable to muster the strength to struggle, she glowered at everyone in the room, seething. “I don’t believe it. You’re all lying to me. You’re all horrible people. Everyone’s lying to me. First, you accused me of being involved in Kristina’s death, and now you’re telling me that my parents committed a crime. Impossible!”
Her voice was sharp like knives. Hearing this, John frowned slightly as he raised his hand to touch his ear.
Seeing this, Henry immediately understood what he meant.
Henry knew that John liked it quiet. He didn’t like when his surroundings were noisy.
“Stop her from talking.” As soon as Henry gave the order, someone stuffed a piece of cloth into Isabella’s mouth.
She widened her eyes as she attempted to speak, only muffled sounds coming out.
John raised his head and shot Henry a meaningful look who then promptly handed the newspaper to Isabella. The front page showed the news about Amelia and Glenn.
The news was about the chairman of the Fang Group who was arrested for kidnapping. Her husband was involved in a fraud case at the Ye Group. Both are currently under investigation.
Photos of Amelia and Glenn were also plastered all over the newspaper.
Only then did Isabella believe what Henry said to be true.
She had never expected that her own parents, her only hope, would be in prison.
She shook her head in disbelief.
‘Why is this happening?
Dad and Mom are in jail. Who will save me?
What should I do? What should I do?’
Her mind was an utter mess as she tried to explore her options. Her parents were in prison and John was here.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out that most of the hospital staff present had been sent by John.
She knew that John wouldn’t let her go. ‘What should I do?’
She panicked inwardly, her arrogance suddenly dissipating.
“This is your only chance. Tell me everything you know about the Memory Charm and I’ll spare your life.” John drummed his fingers on the table as the entire room fell into a thick silence.
Apprehension filled Isabella’s chest. Out of nowhere, she thought of a solution.
‘I know how to save myself.
Currently, I’m the only one who knows about the Memory Charm. When Nina’s memory was modified, only Albert, Dr. Wendy, and I were present.
Ford knows that Nina took the medicine but he doesn’t know which part of her memory was modified.
Albert is dead. Dr. Wendy has already flown back to her country. It’s nearly impossible for John to get a hold of her now.
That’s why John is here.
Yes, I can still save myself.
The Memory Charm is my bargaining chip.
I can’t just give him the valuable information that only I have so easily. The minute I tell him everything, it’s over.’
She struggled and whimpered as she vigorously nodded her head. Henry then reached out to the pull the cloth stuffed in her mouth.
She exhaled sharply.
“I can tell you about the Memory Charm but first, you must let me go.” She braced herself as she negotiated with John.
“Since Albert is dead, I’m the only one in the world who knows about it. Unless you give me your word that I’ll be fine, I’m not telling you anything.”
“Let you go?” John glowered at her. Not once in his life had he ever negotiated with anyone.
No one was allowed to bargain with him. “Yes,” Isabella said firmly. “You need to let me go. Otherwise, you’ll end up with the short end of the stick with Nina’s disease. When that happens…”
‘She’ll forget about you and think Noah’s her lover.
What are you going to do then?’
She purposely stopped mid-sentence in an attempt to spur the turmoil in John’s heart. She figured if she got John’s word that he would let her go, she would be safe.
John frowned as he fixated his gaze on Isabella.
She brazenly stared him down, strategically avoiding his eyes.
She knew very well just how much John cared about Nina. He would never give up on Nina and finding out everything he could about the Memory Charm.
‘It must be frightening to only know a part of the truth.

John already knows that the Memory Charm can modify people’s memory. I know for a fact that he’s worried about Nina’s memory.’
With this in mind, she was sure that John was going to let her go.
However, what she didn’t know was that John had never negotiated with anyone in his entire life. Whomever negotiated him was bound to be tortured and punished.
Nina had gone to Kanner Hospital on a weekly basis for her regular examination. Kanner Hospital had the most advanced medical equipment in the country as well as world-famous neurosurgeons.
According to her examination reports, there didn’t seem to be any issues with her memory.
Her memory did not have any lapses, nor did she have a memory disorder. In addition to that, the Memory Charm hadn’t been fully developed yet. No one knew whether or not it really worked. Despite this, John still wanted to be fastidious.
This was how he decided that he wasn’t going to let Isabella go. Instead, he would keep her under his watch. He cast a cold glance at the director and deputy director standing by the side. In a calm voice, he said,
“Remember, mental hospitals only have mental patients.”
‘So treat your new patient well,’ he thought to himself.
Since the director was a smart man, he immediately understood what John meant. He nodded and bowed. “Got it. We’ll take good care of the patient.”
He discreetly pulled the sleeve of the deputy director’s coat to urge him to respond. The deputy director seemed confused as he stammered, “I understand.”
Just as Isabella was about to retort, Henry stuffed the piece of cloth back into her mouth. Muffled sounds came as she widened her eyes in protest.
Then she was dragged away.
John stood up and left.
“Goodbye, sir.” The director bowed.
Before leaving, Henry reminded the director, “Make sure she doesn’t go crazy. Keep asking her about the Memory Charm.”
“Got it,” the director answered.
He watched as John and Henry left.
By the time John returned to North Yard, it was already 11 in the evening.
Nina was lying in bed, using her phone when she heard the footsteps come from outside. She knew that John was back.
She instantly put her phone down and buried herself in the quilt, shutting her eyes close as she pretend to be asleep.
Recently, John seldom went to sleep on time. She was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to sleep if he saw that she was still awake.
She figured John wouldn’t be able to disturb her if she was sleeping already. After a few moments, she heard the door open. She heard the footsteps head to the bathroom. The next thing she heard was the sound of the running water.
Every time she heard this sound, she was brought back to the night she had slept with John.
Then, what she was thinking came true.
Around noon the following day, Nina sat in front of her vanity table, applying concealer to her neck as she sighed to herself.
When she thought back to what had happened the previous night, she couldn’t help but think how misguided and stupid she was.
She foolishly thought that nothing would happen if she just slept already.
However, John said, “Go on and sleep. I’m busy with my own thing anyway.”
In her anger, she began wrestling with John.
As it happened, they ended up making love throughout the night.
John had left hickeys all over her body.
She didn’t know how she was supposed to go to the airport with all these hickeys all over her body.
Michelle was scheduled to come back from the training. Her flight was at three in the afternoon and was set to arrive at six in the evening. Nina had promised to pick her up at the airport and treat her to dinner.
At that moment, Nina received a WeChat message.
It was from Michelle.
It was a voice message.
“Nini, I think I’ve gone delusional from missing you so much. I saw this person today on the streets and I thought it was you! I almost ran up to that person but luckily, my master stopped me. The person was a man so it obviously wasn’t you.”

Then Nina received another voice message from Michelle. “But he looks exactly like you. Nini, did you ever consider that maybe you’re not an orphan? What if you have a brother?”
After listening to the voice message, Nina was so shocked that she dropped her phone on the floor.
A mixture of surprise and doubt blazed in her eyes.
This man who looked exactly like her could be her brother.
Nina thought to herself, ‘Could it really be my brother?
Is he coming to look for me?’
