Suddenly, a triumphant smile spread across John’s face. He said in a cold voice, “Since she’s sick, she should be locked up. Amy, take her to South District Psychiatric Hospital.”

“Right away, sir.” Amy, who was capable and efficient, walked toward Isabella. “Miss Zhang, let’s go.”

Isabella was scared. She held onto her mother’s hand tightly, unwilling to go with Amy.

She felt that she would be taken to a terrible place.

She knew that John would not just let her go without making her suffer.

“She’s sick and can’t understand people’s words. Just drag her away,” Nina said. She did not like talking too much. She preferred action.

“Nina… you…” As soon as Isabella started to speak, Amelia covered her mouth, fearing that she would give away the truth that she was not mentally ill.

In truth, all the police officers present knew that Isabella was only pretending to have a mental illness, but they could not take her away because Amelia had prepared some evidence that proved she was mentally ill.

Then, she held her daughter in her arms and comforted her. She whispered in her ear, “Don’t be afraid, Isabella. The deputy director of the South District Psychiatric Hospital is my friend. He will take good care of you. We’ll get you out when things cool down.”

Taking her mother’s promise to heart, Isabella went with Amy reluctantly.

Amy and the others surrounded her as they walked, preventing her from running away.

After Isabella left, Amelia and Glenn prepared to leave as well. “We’re done here. We’re leaving now.”

Glenn ushered his wife to leave.

Lena was coming toward them followed by some people carrying a stretcher. On it lied a man with neither hands nor feet. He looked filthy and dressed in rags. It was a pitiful sight.

“Sir, Ellison’s here.” The men put the stretcher down, and everyone could see who was on it.

“It’s you!” Nina recognized the man at once.

It was Ellison who kidnapped her and tried to rape her.

He used to be a burly man, but now he was emaciated with a sallow complexion. His eyes rolled toward Nina’s direction, his face full of fear.

Amelia saw Ellison, and her face drained of color.

‘Why the hell is he here?

Did John take him and chop off his hands and feet? Why does he bring him here now?

Has Ellison betrayed me?’

Amelia’s palms started sweating. She could not think with her heart pounding so hard against her ribcage. She did not look at Ellison.

Noticing that something was wrong with his wife, Glenn took her hand, and the coldness of it surprised him. He asked, “Why is your hand so cold?”

“I don’t know. Maybe because it’s cold.” Panic was starting to overpower Amelia that she stumbled with her words.

If Ellison told the police that she ordered him to kidnap Nina, she would be arrested.

She barely got her daughter off the hook. She could not be in trouble now. She would have no way around it.

“Let’s go home, dear. I’m not feeling well.” Amelia grabbed Glenn’s arm and almost dragged him to leave.

Noticing that Amelia was acting strange, Noah asked, “Do you know this man?”

“No, I don’t. I haven’t seen that man before in my life.” Amelia shook her head violently, avoiding eye contact with Noah.

It was difficult for people to lie when they were nervous, and if they did, it was easily discoverable.

Both Noah and Nina knew that Amelia was lying. They guessed that Amelia not only knew Ellison but also hired him to do things for her.

Nina now understood what John was driving at. “It was you. You hired this man to kidnap me and rape me.”

Hearing Nina’s words, Amelia became more anxious, but she quickly raised her head and challenged, “That’s a serious accusation. Do you have any evidence to support that?”

“It’s okay, honey. I understand.” Glenn spoke softly as if he was exhausted. He looked at Amelia with tears in his eyes. “I won’t remarry. I will take good care of Isabella.”

He knew that he would lose the support of the Fang family without Amelia. Isabella was the only one qualified to inherit the Fang family fortune.

Therefore, he would try his best to protect his daughter.

“I’m afraid you’re not going to be able to do that, Glenn.” Everyone turned their heads to John who just spoke. He said to them, “Glenn is suspected of economic fraud. The evidence has been handed over to the police.”

Nina stood there with her mouth hanging open. She could not help staring at her husband with admiration.

She knew that sooner or later, John would take revenge on the Zhang family. However, she did not expect that he would go to great lengths just to make sure that none of them escaped punishment.

The place went still. The next moment, Richard returned.

“We’ve acquired the South District Psychiatric Hospital, sir. All the people associated with Amelia Zhang have been dismissed,” he reported.

Amelia felt her knees wobble. Her vision darkened, and she fainted.
