Isabella kept her head low.

She wouldn’t look at the tombstone. But it was not up to Isabella. That decision lay with John and Nina.

John gave Richard a look. Richard picked Isabella up, and tossed her in front of the tombstone.

“Look carefully. This is the tomb of Kristina and Albert.” Nina stepped forward and gripped Isabella’s jaw, forcing her to look up.

Isabella looked up, and saw the black and white photo of Albert and Kristina. She stared at them with fear, shock and doubt in her eyes.

“No, it’s impossible. How could that be?” Isabella shook her head, but her eyes were fixed on the photo. Cold tears poured out like a burst dam.

When Nina let go of her hand, Isabella began to step back, crying and laughing in disbelief.

“How could this happen? How could Mr. Song die? You’re lying to me. Liars!”

Isabella suddenly stopped. She put her hands on the ground to support her weak body.

She sat there listlessly, staring at the tombstone, as if all her strength had been drained from her.

She seemed to be trying to come to grips with it.

There was a breeze occasionally stirring the lake. There was no sunlight on the lake, and it was dark.

At the same time, John and Nina stood under the oak tree, staring coldly at the girl sitting on the ground.

She deserved all of this. It was her own fault.

If Isabella hadn’t gotten Kristina to commit suicide, Albert wouldn’t have killed himself.

After a long time, Isabella finally came to the conclusion that Albert was dead.

She couldn’t help laughing at him. “You even died for Kristina! You died for a bitch!

Albert, where’s your ambition? Didn’t you say that you would be the ruler of the city? Didn’t you say that you wanted to be the top guy?

Why did you die for Kristina? Why?” Isabella roared and slapped her hands hard on the ground. She was so angry that her face turned livid.

“Why?” She let out a primal, animal scream. She cried so hard she almost couldn’t breathe.

She crawled on the ground and kept pounding her fists on it, until her hands were covered with soil and blood.

Isabella had never thought that a selfish person like Albert would be willing to die for Kristina.

But what she didn’t know was that Albert’s main goal was to give Kristina a better life.

Albert even gave all his tenderness and love to Kristina. But he hurt her and caused her to die in the end.

“I’ve done so much for you. I did it all for you. Why didn’t you take one more look at me?” Isabella kept crying and complaining, until she was choked with sobs and her body trembled.

It was a painful thing to love someone but not be loved in return.

Her parents walked up to her while she was crying her heart out.

After Isabella disappeared for more than two weeks, Glenn and Amelia had been anxious that whole time.

No matter how many people they sent to search for her, they couldn’t find her. Their fears were infinite.

In Lexingport City, only three families were able to make a person disappear without a trace: Ye family, Shi family and Song family.

Glenn and Amelia couldn’t afford to offend any of them.

The Zhang family had gone bankrupt after angering the Shi family. Their business holdings were bought out in the end.

In the afternoon, Glenn and Amelia finally got news of their daughter and rushed to Blue Lake.

When they got there, the area was guarded by John’s men. Glenn’s and Amelia’s hearts sank.

They knew that their daughter had pissed off John again.

The two of them were resentful, but that was their daughter. They braced themselves for the worst and walked towards the lake.

They could hear their daughter crying from a distance. When they walked closer, they saw the woman they raised was a mess. There were scrapes and cuts all over her body, and some of them were still bleeding.

A daughter was the flesh of the parents. Feeling sorry for their daughter, Amelia ran over and hugged Isabella.

“Isabella, Isabella, what’s wrong with you?” Feeling sorry for her daughter, Amelia brushed Isabella’s messy hair away, revealing her tear stained face.

When she saw the wounds on Isabella’s arms and legs, she was so distressed that tears rolled down her face.

“How could this be? How did you get hurt like this? Who did this to you?” Amelia didn’t dare touch her daughter for fear of hurting her.

Isabella was numb. She didn’t come to her senses until she heard her mother’s cries of concern.

“Mom, Mom, Mom, help me, help me.” Isabella threw herself into Amelia’s arms and grabbed Amelia’s clothes tightly, as if she had grasped a life-saving straw.

Amelia’s nose was full of an awful smell, which made her want to cover her nostrils.

This was how Isabella smelled. Amelia felt sorry for her daughter, so she held her and patted her on the back, as if comforting a child.

“It’s okay. I’m here. No one can hurt you. Don’t be afraid.”

Amelia’s words set Isabella’s mind at ease. In Isabella’s opinion, there was nothing in the world that her mother couldn’t do. No matter how many bad things she had done, her mother would clean up her messes.

Glenn also came over and saw the mother and daughter hugging. His heart tightened when he saw his daughter in rags. “What’s going on? How did Isabella get like this?”

Amelia stroked her daughter’s back and looked at John and Nina nearby. “Mr. Shi, I don’t know what my daughter did, but did she deserve this?”

Glenn’s body stiffened. Then he realized John was still here.

Afraid that his wife’s tough tone would irritate John, Glenn quickly grinned and said, “Mr. Shi, please don’t mind her. My wife gets crazy when it comes to Isabella. Can you tell me what she did? If she pissed you off, I can certainly apologize.”

He tried his best to keep a smile on his face. He hoped it wouldn’t anger John even more.

“If an apology did any good, then why would we need cops?” John wasn’t angry, but he knew what had to be done. His words struck like a thunderbolt.

When Glenn was still figuring it out, a group of people in uniform showed up. Noah had brought them, as he was the leader of the criminal investigation team.

Hearing the footsteps, everyone looked over and found that it was the police. Glenn’s body froze. Just now he thought John was joking, but he didn’t think he acted on his words.

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and looked at his wife and daughter sitting on the ground. He knew there was a reckoning due.

Nina said coldly, “Now you have a choice: apologize to the dead, or the family of the dead. But I don’t think they’ll accept your apology.

Glenn’s face turned pale and he was sweating.

Did someone die?

Amelia was also a little confused, but her daughter tried to hide in her arms. She knew someone was really dead.
