- MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2
- Season 3 Episode 50 - (We are getting divorced)
Jason had classes in the daytime and stayed in the school apartment during evenings. Sometimes he would just sit there for the whole night.
He had been feeling tired both physically and mentally recently, so he no longer went to the company anymore.
He was not the only son. If he didn’t go to work, someone else would take over things.
Fu Group wouldn’t go bankrupt just because he was absent for a week.
Ambitions differ from person to person. Jessica’s happened to be landing great achievements, but she unfortunately lacked the ability to pursue them. So she passed the torch to her husband and made her own ambitions his.
However, Jason loved the pleasure of an ordinary life.
All he wanted was to hold his wife in his arms for a lifetime. And if they would be blessed with children in the future, it would be another great joy in his life.
Even if they remained childless, he would be content as long as he had his wife.
All he wanted was to hold his wife in his arms for a lifetime. And if they would be blessed with children in the future, it would be another great joy in his life.
Even if they remained childless, he would be content as long as he had his wife. But she didn’t share his outlook.
Jessica had always hoped for Jason to stand at the pinnacle of society and attain a position of universal attention. Only then could he stand beside her.
She was, after all, from the prominent Shi family, a truly rich and powerful family.
“Isn’t that Professor Fu from the school of literature?” Passing students began to whisper among themselves. They threw discreet glances silence over the couple from time to time, not daring to stare so openly.
“Yes, that is Professor Fu. Why did she hit him?”
“Don’t you know who she is? She is the professor’s wife.”
“So what if she’s his wife, how could she just hit him in front of so many students? Women may have to assert their self-esteem sometimes, but men also have their pride. If those two have a misunderstanding or disagreement, they should have talked about it at home.”
“Perhaps Professor Fu cheated on her?”
“How is that even possible? Every person in the world could probably be engaged in an affair except for the professor. He would never do something like that. I have a friend who takes his class. He often talks about his wife, you know. My friend said that if she could get herself such a husband in the future, she would be willing to die for him.”
“Then why did his wife hit him? She’s so pretty, why is she so violent? Hmm…”
The student who last spoke was immediately cut off when another student covered her mouth. “Do you want to die? Professor Fu’s wife is Mr. John Shi’s sister. You know who he is, right?”
The student who got interrupted widened her eyes as realization hit her.
Understanding how prickly the situation was, they bowed their heads and left in a hurry.
If they ever earned the ire of any members of the Shi family, they just might find themselves thrown out of Lexingport City. In worst cases, they might even be unable to live in any of the other large cities in the country.
The whispered speculations and the curious looks of the students didn’t bother Jason, but the slap in his face continued to sting. His heart went cold for a moment.
He turned to look at his angry wife, and gave her a smile. It was gentle, but it lacked its usual warmth and tenderness.
“How many years have we been married?”
To Jessica, his question had nothing to do with what she was mad about, and only served to fuel her fury even more. “Five years.
Don’t go trying to change the topic. I’m asking you, why did you lie to me? Is this what you said you were so busy with?
You only have four classes every day and some research projects. But you haven’t gone to the company to take care of business matters these days.”
Jason heaved a weary sigh, and when he spoke, there was an abundance of bitterness in his tone. “We have been married for five years, yet only now did you learn of my class schedule.
I know you go shopping every day, have afternoon tea with your friends, and occasionally go to see your own fashion brand. I always think that your routine would constantly tire you, and I’ve always felt sorry for you because of it.
But you have never once cared for me.” Jason’s words were as heavy as his heart.
He had spent these past few nights thinking things over and over, and he had arrived at a conclusion. There was indeed something wrong with him and Jessica—they were never equal from the beginning.
He had loved Jessica since they were children, while she had loved commanding him in that same amount of time.
He loved her so much so that he always thought he could do anything for her. No one was willing to give anything without getting something in return.

At least that was how it looked to Jason.

He couldn’t deny that they had been happy in the past five years, but at the same time, it was a hard life that he had to live.
He didn’t want to give up his vocation of being an educator, but he was forced to follow his wife’s desires to work in Fu Group and chaperone her to high society affairs.
He never even had time to spend on himself.
Something in his expression tugged at Jessica’s heart and made it ache. She froze in place for a moment, then her stance turned offensive and her eyes blazed with grievance. “Are you blaming me for all that?”
Her husband had never done such a thing. In truth, he had always tolerated her, no matter how far she went. But today, he had actually gone and laid the blame on her.
“You weren’t like this before. You were very kind to me and you never judged my actions. It’s your fault that you lied to me, why are you making me look like the bad guy?” She burst into tears.
Jessica felt wronged.
Why was everyone turning against her?
Even her husband, who had always supported her, was now changing sides.
Seeing her tears pained Jason, and he couldn’t stop himself from going to her and wiping them away. “I don’t mean to blame you,” he whispered softly as he held her.
It was just a statement.
He had loved her for so many years. How could he bear to see her cry?
“Let’s head back first.”
“No.” Jessica pushed away from him and swiped the tears from her face. “We have to settle things now. Why aren’t you attending the company or going back home? Is it because you’re seeing another woman behind my back?”
Bitterness surged in Jason’s heart once again. Could she really not see the depth of his love for her?
How could he even look at another woman?
To be honest, though, this was not the first time Jessica harbored such a misunderstanding. Before, Jason had wondered if he perhaps failed in providing her a sense of security. Now, however, he was wondering if it all came down to her never trusting him in the first place.
“I don’t have any woman except for yourself.” He gazed at her intently as he said this. His voice, however, still lacked warmth and was laced in pain instead.
“Really?” Jessica’s voice finally softened. “Then go to the company now and finish all your pending work. I’ll wait for you at home.”
Jason’s eyes darkened, and he said nothing for a couple of moments. He mulled things over, then finally spoke his true thoughts. “As a matter of fact, honey, I don’t want to go to the company.”
Jessica’s eyes twitched, and her eyebrows knotted into a frown. “You don’t want to go to the company? Then what do you want to do? Continue being a university professor and study all these useless subjects?”
“That is indeed what I have in mind.” Jason stood his ground. He was not changing the topic to accommodate his wife’s temper, or yielding to her whims. He was finally giving voice to what he really thought and felt.
Jessica shrieked, “What’s the point of studying them? How can you be so spineless?”
It was just as Jason had thought. He lowered his eyes and said nothing further. The setting sun cast its last rays over them, but he felt no warmth. If anything, he felt even colder.
Chester had been watching them from the distance, and the entire time all he could see was his aunt continuously pushing his uncle farther and farther away.
He was shaken out of his reverie by another outburst from his aunt.
“Jason, do you want all my friends to laugh at me? They would say that I married an unknown university professor. They would think that I lack taste and would mock me behind my back.”
Jason scowled, and his ice cold fingertips twitched.
When he remained silent, Jessica took it as his acquiescence. She steeled her voice as she threw an ultimatum at her husband.

“Make a choice, Jason. Do you want to be with me, or do you want to be a university teacher? If you choose me, then you’d better quit your profession right this instant, pack your things, return to your office in Fu Group, do your job as general manager, and achieve great heights in the business world. If you choose to keep teaching…”
Jessica paused for effect, then before dealing the final blow through gritted teeth. “Then we’re getting divorce.”
Divorce?
Jason looked up at his wife in disbelief.
