MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 37
Noah rushed over to the pavilion in the center of Blue Lake.
Ford had called him so he ran over in a frantic panic.
The gauze curtain in the pavilion was slightly raised. The thin sunlight penetrated the thick clouds and sprinkled on the lake, reflecting the sparkling light. The ice coffin in the pavilion could be seen faintly. Beside the coffin, there was a person leaning against it. His eyes were closed, his face was pale and there was a defeated smile faintly taking over his mouth.
Ford stood outside the pavilion, lost in thought.
He knew that Albert was going to kill himself so that he could be with Kristina.
It turned out, he was actually expressing his last will last night.
Even though Ford assumed that he was going to do this, he would never try to stop his boss from doing something in the pursuit of happiness.
Albert lay dead, with the sun rising over his motionless body. A gust of wind blew, carrying the pungent smell of blood through the air.
“Captain.” Tom looked worriedly at Noah beside him. Noah had been drained lately. He had deep bags under his eyes and he clearly hadn’t shaved in days.
With all that was going on, his appearance was the last thing on his mind.
Since the death of Kristina, he was inconsolable. To add to the torture, his best friend was dead too.
The two most important people in Noah’s life had died.
Noah lifted the curtain and saw Kristina in a black wedding dress lying in the ice coffin and Albert, in a bridegroom’s suit, leaning against it. To see his lower body stained in blood felt like a knife in Noah’s heart.
He stared in disbelief.
The thin sunlight couldn’t compare to the coldness coming from the coffin.
Noah staggered backwards, as if all his strength had been drained. His eyes glossed over, looking at the harrowing sight before him.
Finally, Noah stood still, quietly brooding
His mind flooded with memories of Albert and Kristina over the years. He could remember every little smile and joke, each more bitter sweet than the last.
Half an hour later, Noah calmed down and asked Ford, “What was his last wish before he died?”
Ford, “Bury him and Kristina together. He wanted to be buried together with her right next to the oak tree by Blue Lake.”
Ford pointed at the oak tree across the lake. In spring it bloomed with magnificent green leaves, acting as a beacon beside the lake.
The wind occasionally blew some leaves off, decorating the lake and making it look like some kind of oil painting.
Noah remembered that Kristina’s favorite poem was “To the Oak.” The love story described in there seemed to match her love impeccably.
“If I love you, I will never be a clinging a trumpet creeper, using your high boughs to show off myself. If I love you, I will never follow a spoony bird, repeating a monotonous song for the green shade. I must be an oak tree by your side, our roots entwined underground, our leaves touching in the clouds…”
All these years Albert was thought of as a business giant and a stern man but the only thing he ever wanted was to be with Kristina.
Two lines of tears streaked down Noah’s cheeks. He felt the coldness even under the sunlight. He looked at the tree and said, “Bury them there. Auntie likes roses as well. Plant roses around the lake.
What’s more, we can’t let the public know of their deaths. We should announce that they have been married and are travelling around the world. Ford, you can do it. There is a photo of them at No. 2, Lanting Road. Show it to the public as their wedding photo.”
If the public knew that the CEOs of the Ye Group and the Song Group died, the companies would be in disarray. The shares and the profits would fall.
The two of them worked so hard for their family businesses. Noah couldn’t let that all be in vain.
Ford nodded and turned around to get on the job.

It was causing quite a stir in the industry. Everyone was scurrying to find out who would be the heads of the two families now.
After Kristina’s accident, Vivian was in charge of all the company’s business. With help from the vast amount of reporting that the media did, she swiftly became the richest and most famous woman in the country.
Everyone put their money on Vivian becoming even greater than Kristina. She was already accepted as another female CEO in the business circle.
As for the Song family, everyone guessed that Adrian would take over the family business.
Adrian enjoyed a great reputation on the surface, but all the shares in the group were given to the twelve-year-old Evelyn in Albert’s will.
“What was Albert doing? Why did he give the 60% of the shares to Evelyn?” Albert’s mother, Ella, flew into a blind rage. She picked up the cup on the table and smashed it on the floor, glaring at Evelyn with a ferocious scowl.
Evelyn hid behind Ford. Her body quaked in fear as her face became more and more flushed.
Ella always had four children. Her eldest son, Adrian, was her favorite because when he was the only child, Ella was at her happiest.
When she fell pregnant with Albert, her husband began to fool around with many other woman and since then, she hated Albert with a burning passion.
She didn’t expect Albert to evolve into the man he became though. He grew up to become a ferocious man, taking over all the power throughout the Song family, leaving Ella with no status whatsoever.
After Albert died, Ella thought she could take back her shares and regain her position. She had no idea that Albert would give all his shares to that child, Evelyn.
Evelyn and Toby Song were Ella’s two youngest children. Toby was more conniving than he looked. He knew Ella wasn’t fond of Albert and didn’t dare to get close to him as a result.
In the end, it worked. Ella loved her youngest son.
Evelyn cried nonstop as a child. To Ella it sounded as if Evelyn’s soul was being ripped from her body, constantly. She had a headache throughout the whole of Evelyn’s childhood.
She was the reason Ella’s husband never came. What made it worse was that she clung onto Albert. As long as she was with him, she seldom cried.
Back then, Ella often fantasized about strangling Evelyn. At this point she didn’t even think of Evelyn as her own flesh and blood.
Ella was more wary of her the older she got. She seemed to be getting closer to Albert and only ever addressed him as her sibling.
Every time Ella tried to shout at her, Evelyn just cried uncontrollably. It was like that was her only emotion.
Ella despised her. As long as Albert wasn’t around, Ella had free reign to do whatever she pleased with Evelyn.
Evelyn had developed such a timid personality from her hostile environment. She knew that if she ever left Albert’s side, she was going to get the brunt of the abuse.
Now that her brother was gone, Evelyn cried till her eyes swelled up and her tears streamed like waterfalls. She didn’t dare make a sound though because Albert wasn’t here to protect her anymore.
“Ford, is my brother really gone?” With tears in her red and swollen eyes, Evelyn pulled Ford’s hand and pouted helplessly.
She refused to believe that it was true.
Ford and Albert were the same age so Evelyn always thought of him as her brother too. He was the only other person that could make her feel safe.
Ford squatted down, wiped Evelyn’s tears with his brawny fingers and said assuredly, “Miss, I promised your brother that I would stay to protect you until you can protect yourself.”
Evelyn shook her head, tears streaming down her face. She sniffed and said, “Ford, I don’t want any shares or property. I just want my brother back.”
Crossing her arms over her chest, Ella said with a faint smile, “Well, since you don’t want the shares, transfer them all to me, or to Adrian.”
“Mr. Wu, you heard that. My daughter doesn’t want those shares. Just transfer 30% to me and 30% to Adrian.” Ella turned around and smiled maniacally at the lawyer.
